    Hey TTT nice job at explaining the swing path. However, whenever I try this shot I miss the ball. Can you elaborate on the timing of this shot as well as on the speed and posture (e.g. being on your side with all the weight on your right leg?).
    This would help a lot! Thank you so much from Italy!

    • @Massiminesta9568
      @Massiminesta9568 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Also I believe this way of slicing is much more versatile than usual slice, if properly mastered. It allows you to hit faster and higher balls, basically whenever you don't have the time to prepare and execure a normal backhand

    • @Massiminesta9568
      @Massiminesta9568 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      And also, if you can give us some drills or exaggerations to work on this shot would be awesome! (E.g. with the traditional slice all my shots were going high. The drill of purposely trying ti hit the net helped me cutting the ball and keeping It lower).

    • @Better_Call_Raul
      @Better_Call_Raul ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Massiminesta9568 I use a one-handed backhand with Eastern grip. My normal backhand is drive or topspin with Eastern grip. I *never* slice on a neutral rally ball. If I want to mix it up and slice on neutral rally balls, then I will have to switch to Continental grip. From the ready position, as soon as I recognize it is coming to my backhand, I must switch to Continental (instead of my usual Eastern grip). So it seems I have to plan it out well in advance that I'm gonna slice instead of driving it. 🤔

    I'm a 3.5 player, is this Federer technique and slice swing path recommended for intermediate players like me? Is it too advanced perhaps? I don't have a backhand slice at all currently, I only got flat or topspin backhand. Today I focused with my hitting partner on developing a one handed slice and the motion most productive for me was steeply downward like Fed's. But is it too "risky" of a swing path for me? Is there a "safer" path I should master first?

    Hey what is your tennis racket or wich one would you suggest me to use? I am 14 years old and I'm not a beginner but also not a pro. Played this summer with the blade 285gr and pretty hard strings and now I have an injury in my elbow so the doctor suggested to rest for 3 months and get a lighter racket. I have a really good serve for my category and the rest is average.

    • @TopTennisTrainingOfficial
      @TopTennisTrainingOfficial  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I would firstly say that it probably wasn't the weight of your racket but the tight strings that caused the injury.
      If you have access to a pro shop that allows you to test out rackets, that would the best way to choose a good racket. Get your tension down also!

    You mention he gets record level spin, but using that pendulum technique, how does he get power and depth if the swing path isn't 'pushing' the bal across the court? It seems great for drop shots but not a deep slice..Just how?

    Hi Simon,
    How much does the wrist come into play with the backhand slice when compared to the shoulder?
    Do you keep your wrist firm and allow your shoulder to take care of the shot from start to finish or do you maneuver your wrist slightly during the initial prep when you take the racket behind and keep your wrist loose while making contact with the ball?
    PS: Nice video and you've got a lovely court there

    • @TopTennisTrainingOfficial
      @TopTennisTrainingOfficial  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The wrist stays in a neutral position, on 90% of slices.
      On the downward phase, it's more the extension of the arm using the tricep muscle, that's why it's so important to have the arm bent when you are waiting above the shoulder.
      Then the shoulder takes over using the pendulum effect
      All the best
