Wow. Great little selection. Seen them all before but never tire of seeing the maestro’s touch. The opposition was top drawer - must have been so frustrating playing him knowing that your shots would be good enough for virtually all opposition. The stretching returns against Rafa and Berdych were stunning. I think Roger’s slice was the best slice in men’s tennis. Steffi’s was best in women’s obviously. Notable mention for Justine Henin and of course Martina Navaratilova.
I agree with you 100%. If I were to make a collection of the 100 most amazing points ever played by any player, male or female, of all time, this point would be a huge contender for #1. For me it’s the incredible touch and feel displayed at the end of the what had to be an exhausting point playing defense corner to corner. The finesse of this winner really feels like the skill of threading a needle. Beautiful.
Roger je prostě Roger nejgenialnější hráč v historii. Ta jeho lehkost a brilantnost to je dar z nebes. Pro mně vždy nejlepší hráč. Díky Rogere za to, že jsi byl.
Roger is the only player in modern history to finish a point by selecting a shot based on however " the mood struck him at the time" So much mastery that while Everyone else has 1 shot option to end the rally, Roger had a few ! Sorely missed but nobody can play forever.
Yeah these shots were mostly in his prim. Goes to show that later in his career these shots were few and in matches of not as much consequence because djokovic and Nadal were physically capable of covering the court very well and getting to slices But amazing disguise and just purely art and creativity in the shots. Sure the others have their unbelievable shots as well but it's more hard work and physical. Federer does it more easily (or that's what it seems)
My opinion, GOAT status has more to do with an overall game, not just how many slams you have. Djokovic is great and one of the best grinders of all time, but Fed had all the variety, plus the grind, plus the grit to pull out the tough matches. He is the GOAT in my book. Nadal is the GOAT of neurotic tics and clay.
@ksantosh100 I reckon that for most people in this comments' section, Federer is the GOAT. And it has to do more with the magic that he showed while playing; neither Rafa nor Nole has shown that magic, we are talking about sheer talent. However, if you consider just the number of GS and M1000 as the main variable to determine the GOAT, which is valid, then Federer is the undisputed GOAT in grass, and Nole is arguably the third, not too shabby.
@@jorgej9419 I got your first part, Fed is very talented and that took him quite far. You lost me in the 2nd paragraph. Fed lost all finals matchups to Novak on grass and barely holding on to most grass slam count. Not sure how Nole is 3rd on your list?
RFs on the rise back hand down the line winners were always my favourite from his shots but damn these slices are some of the best I have seen, never noticed them this closely before❤
Ah the Federer backhand. Maybe the single most versatile and malleable shot in tennis history. And also the most (unfairly) maligned. Rafa had the cheat code, but honestly I feel like it was incredible for most of his career.
I was thinking the same, RF slice was so deep and low sometimes that almost anyone failed to read it.. Djokovic has 0 problems going low with his backhad to counter that shot.
It's difficult to compare, considering the vastly different racket technologies throughout the open era. They are all masters at slice backhands in their own right 😅
Rosewall had the deadliest underspin bh...won him 23 singles majors pro and amateur combined and 24 doubles majors. All his opponents said the same thing...unerring accuracy dtl pass. Women-Steffi had a lethal bh slice which set up her fh kill. Martina had a killer bh slice approach. Fed....sorry...no one says anything about his slice from the back......
No one says anything about his slice? Lol what? Federer’s been long considered to have the best slice in the world for the last 2 decades. Multiple former & current players & coaches have praised it for how effective it is.

Rosewall has the best underspin bh drive ever. Steffi second.
Roger’s brilliance never ceases to amaze me. Damn what a gem.
Federer the magician
2:14 one of my all time favorite points. The way Fed defended the point and just finished it off like that. Incredible.

Miss your magic Roger

@@1bcordell Nah man, gotta give Novak his due. Undisputed GOAT. Fed is close 3rd, so not too bad. 2nd in non-clay!

Federer was a perfect combination of traditional technique and modern power.
His technique was just beautiful in every motions.
I always try to slice like he did everyday
Love these! Something we no longer see on the tour after he retired.
One of the best Federer vidios i ever seen
GOAT

The Fed didn't win as many GSs as Nadal or Djokovic but he was the most skillful tennis player. Nadal and Djokovic are like machines.
Maestro
I really love Roddicks way of showing everyone that he's like: what the feck dude! Kudos to him
I like ponytail Roger and curly haired Roger. Awesome fighting spirit.
Amazing Roger
Nadie más grande que el Sr. Roger Federer
1:38 Federer loves passing Nadal like that
Come on Roger! Well done! 😊👍👍👍
Que elegancia la de Francia! Te extraño demasiado ROGER FEDERER 😭😭😭
MAGIC!!!
legend!

🎾🐐
Arguably the greatest slice backhand ever.
Only one who had neutralized it was Djokovic.
I was thinking the same, RF slice was so deep and low sometimes that almost anyone failed to read it.. Djokovic has 0 problems going low with his backhad to counter that shot.
No way! Slice have djoko lot of problems ! Watch wimby 2012 semis. He was struggling with it. Only rafa has dealt with it
Lol kids these days... djokovic wouldn`t have a clue with slice if the surfaces still had some bite... watch the shanghai 2014 matchup!!
not true. In many of Fed's victories over Djokovic the slice was a major feature.
However against Nadal's forehand a different story...
@@AbhijeetSingh-ed3lw Don't worry, we are not too far away from total revisionism. One more Wimbledon title will do it.
Miss the baggy shirt era of the early 00s
He hits all these shots like no one has known about them? Backhand slice is so unscientific. How?
is the best slice bachand of All time ?
Leaving berdych on the floor… 😮😂
Best slice backhand: Sampras, Edberg, or Federer?
Federer by far
It's difficult to compare, considering the vastly different racket technologies throughout the open era. They are all masters at slice backhands in their own right 😅

You truly don't know what you are talking about if you don't recognize the brilliance of Fed's slice backhand.
hi
Zzzzzing
Funny how half(5/10) of these are from matches he lost. 🤣😂
He was pretty good but struggled against Novak and Rafa
