- Burnley are back in the big time after promotion to the Premier League was confirmed today. Vincent Kompany's men have strolled to glory in their first Championship season following their relegation, with the Turf Moor team completely reseting in the close season after Shaun Dyche's reign.

Congratulations Burnley. As a Boro fan at the game tonight I was expecting a tough test and we certainly got one. Whenever we tried something they just had an answer for it. Excellent manager in Kompany and good luck for the Premier League!
A huge congrats to Burnley. They have been very impressive. What's just as amazing is how Vencent Kompany has changed the style of play and got it right from day one. I can still remember that away game at Huddersfield thinking how Burnley were almost unrecognizable.

As a Gooner, I never thought I would say this but I have loved watching Burnley games.
Burnley had to replace something like 16 players, they had to spend money to replace them. Most teams waste their money, Burnley have bought very very well.
Best side I've seen in the championship since Wolves. Fully deserved.

Thanks Benjamin - always enjoy your videos! I'm a Burnley fan in Western Canada and I have to say that there can't be many Burnley fans anywhere that could have predicted our change of style. I have witnessed near relegation from Div 4 to to promotion to the PL. The Wembley win over Sheff U was my most exciting memory. We will enjoy this period of fulfillment and, maybe a bit of gloating, but the harsh realities of trying to survive int he top league will become the number one challenge for Vincent Kompany et al!!! COYC and congrats to all the Clarets around the World! Good luck to all the other teams vying to get promotion or avoid relegation. This is what makes English football so exciting and, also, so unpredictable!

I watched the Norwich vs Burnley match earlier in the (calendar) year and Burnley were a class ahead of Norwich which was saying something. A very well deserved promotion.
Great video Ben you have to spend the money well. Not every team does that. So I said a point would be great 3 points even better. Still want to beat the blades revenge and all that. Think they will get automatic promotion though.

Given that they were the only relegated team that got close to survival last year, it's not overly surprising given their position to the other relegated teams

I think burnley spent far less being a parachute team compared to others who went up in previous years.
However this has been one of the weakest championship seasons in quite a while so a big sigh of relief is the order of the day for the burnley board
There may be some truth in this, as going on the sides nearest to their level, Sheffield United have had a chunk off the boil and tend to grind out 1 nils, Boro spent a third of the season in Wilder shit mode and Luton were just a slight step up from physical cloggers who play as a team.
This shouldn't take anything much from them though, a guy new into management getting them to play that way ( even little things like their man-marking is by far the best I've seen) is to be applauded.
Yes, they've had a big budget to give them an advantage over 80% of the league which can't be ignored, but they still deserve congratulations given how they've done compared to say Norwich and especially Watford.

@@tonymillar6942 But it doesn't change the point that whilst Kompany deserves the praise it's somewhat shaded by the parachute money. When you can spend 2m on a 19 year defender and then loan him to teams that don't even have that money to spend on a striker, this tells you a lot I think.
A huge advantage yes. But compare how they've done to Watford...Even though Watford have a complete spud in charge now, that's still some difference.

The situation with parachute money is what it is, but if you think that having a parachute budget that is alone greater than many clubs' entire budget didn't make a massive difference then you are living in fairy land.
