Okay, not only a very useful tutorial, but you took me back some. I have a classic headshot photo of my grandmother from when she was young, and she had hand-tinted it herself. A woman of many talents and a woman I miss dearly every day. Thank you for this. 🤍
Great lesson. If I were to be a bit more picky, I would create layer masks of each section first so that I have better control on selections before colorizing them.
I spent a long time figuring out all this layer stuff thinking there was a magic button at the end that would merge and fix it all up neat. I had more fun using the first few steps...then mix and match all tools transferring colour and smudge or spray to blend in /combine all and experiment.
I just recently started playing with Gimp and your videos have been incredibly helpful to me! I was wondering if you only use a mouse or if you have a digital pen pad and what do you recommend?
hey i have faced this problem. when i use the paint brush and then leave my mouse pointer and when i color on top of the previous brushed areas, the color changes and gets light. i have this problem please give the solution.
For some reason, the best kept secret in TH-cam is how old a video is. If someone can enlightmen me, please do. This video has to be ancient, at least 10 years old.
Good question, it's called Key-Mon. Its free and open source, and is only available on Linux. I'm also a fan of ScreenKey. I have a video showing a similar windows software here, called PXkeyStokes: th-cam.com/video/jHnE62k-DFw/w-d-xo.html
I am a beginner trying to colorize a photo as a modern work of art. I stumbled here but didn't understand anything. The screenshots are blurred and secondly I could not follow what you clk on etc. A good tutorial but for beginners it won't do. I want something simpler to start with. Any suggestions?
Great lesson. You have a positive attitude and always a great mood. Good luck

How do you get the small thumbnail pics at the top of your screen !

good
whe i try and draw the colour nothing happens
So, how do I export all those layers? You said sperate layers for face, hair and clothes...
Good question. All visible layers will be combined and exported in a single image (.png, .jpg, etc...), when doing File > Export.
@@TJFREE Thank you.
