Thanks! Why do you think it is a loose wire? :) Anyway, you need to go pretty deep with it. Remove everything till fan will be reachable. The main problem with assembling is where all that cable goes, where all that screws goes? So, prepare a peace of paper where you will place all screws how they was before. You can also make a pictures how the cables were placed. If you took some laptops apart before, you should be more comfortable then someone who does it first time. Have a good luck!
Hello, thanks for comments! CMOS battery is on the other side of the motherboard. You need to do pretty much same what is done in that video, but stop after you will remove a motherboard. It is a pretty complex process and if you will do that for a first time, just find out the basic things - how to and what to do and what not. Does your laptop start without battery, only on power?
If you have to clean your laptop then usually you need only one screwdriver. Axes one. Regular size should be fine. Some laptops are using a fine axe screws, I am not sure that this one have some of does. What I am really recommend is to get some good ESD. Better it will one that you can be grounded. Since you will clean your heatsink (depends how dirty it is) you may remove it from motherboard and then prior to this process you better buy a cooling compound, change it too... Have a good luck!
It can freeze also because of memory or hard drive problem. You may need to run some tests for memory and hard drive, cleaning a fan will be not a bad idea, but than you have to take a lot of things out... any way it is a necessary thing to do, clean a fan... but it can wait until you will confirm that memory and hard is good.
Making sure that your fan is clean is not a bad thing too. So, if you will do that, make sure you will be careful! Watch few different videos and use antistatic device. Make sure you don't mix screws... Have a good luck!

They are a different size. Be careful. There is no problem ones you will take a A4 page and place all screws how they was in the case bottom, than another A4 for palm rest, another one for motherboard and everything inside a laptop. Don't mix them. Have a good luck!
Maybe he dropped it and cable came out ... if some screws are missing chances are higher ... although originally they are sitting well, but the only think can tell you better is open up and look :) You can also check this screen on a different laptop that is working and has similar connector... Maybe LCD is not damaged at all :)

The startup test told me that the primary battery is KO but if I take it out and plug the AC adaptor the laptop starts correctly but in 3 o 4 minutes the laptop lost the power and BLUFFFF... Don't know what it is... maybe motherboard. I've opened the laptop with your instructions but I don't see anything wrong. The laptop don't get hot in any moment. Really strange. :-S

Don't know why HP make things so dumb that you have to practically take everything apart just to get into replacing a simple battery. HP sucks! I have a Toshiba 4 yrs now, not even a problem. No, this HP does not start now with or without the battery and adapter. It's just dead, no light, nothing. I know battery and adapter is fine. hey i have a question im not sure if you would know the answer but my cousin has the G62 laptop and he tried to open it up to clean the fan and when he couldnt get it open he just put it the screws back in and powered it on and when he turns it on you can hear the fan running the hard drive running and he led lights flashing but the screen is just black do you know how to fix this?
My G62 Is not functional at the moment. Blank screen, Caps lock light blinking. According to the HP support website it is giving me Blink code 1 which means CPU is fried. This system is 3 years old is it worth it to try and repair or just scrap it? I am not 100% comfortable in dismantling a laptop even after watching this video but if it is easier than it looked I'm willing to give it a try

Having a loose wire seems to fit the symptoms that when I tip the computer backward, it starts crackling near the fan, like something is hitting it. I'm more concerned that I loosened the fan itself and it will need replacing or something.
Smh....I'm only watching this to find out how to replace the battery. Sadly after the first 10seconds I realize my wife's laptop no longer has the battery release tab. How else can I get to 5his.

The g62 i have is still working. Which is not bad. But i was thinking of folding the display back so it looks like just one solid Desktop. Itll look like a closed laptop but with the LCD facing out. I want to figure out a way so my kiddo wont have to use the keyboard and mouse thats in the laptop instead a USB one. If anyone has any tips that would be cool. Thanks!
Hi guys, I 've got the exact same issue with my HP G62 A10EV. One day I opened the lid of my laptop, fan strarted working but my screen was blank. I connected the laptop to my TV and I could see the Windows interface. I tried to hard reset my computer and it worked for the first couple of times. Now my laptop reacts randomly, sometimes the screen works, some other it doesn't. I took my laptop to a technician who told me that my graphics card is the issue and i have to replace the motherboard.

That screw at 2:32 won't come off! It just gets loose and then it's stuck. I know this sounds ridiculous but ideas anybody? I'm using a PH00 SNCM 2.0 detachable manual screwdriver if this helps.
Nope, nothing. No power going through to the motherboard at all. I tested the adapter and power is fine but computer just doesn't turn on. I just replace a new CMOS battery and still nothing working. Checked out some forums and they all say motherboard damaged. I don't believe it because I was able to turn it on once or twice with the reset and was not able to turn it on again after next day. If it was shot, it would have had problems while I was using it.
Sorry nevermind, it came out. After several minutes of just rotating it finally gave way. The screw was twice the length of the other ones at the edges, probably me just having put back the wrong screw after having opened it before.
No need to be sorry, you do not work for me :P Anyway, yes it is, last time i open up a battery i cracked the whole outer shell on it so it could not be put togheter.

No, this HP does not start now with or without the battery and adapter. It's just dead, no light, nothing. I know battery and adapter is fine. It was working fine after a few reset, but now just won't start.
Only you need to decide, open it up or not :)

Maybe your cousin disconnected some video cable... Do you see anything on external monitor?

if it is overheating, it can be a dirty fan/heatsink
It rotates, but doesn't come out. I can tighten it up and loosen it, but once it gets a little loose it keeps rotating but doesn't go anywhere.

gpu is soldered to a motherboard. CPU is under heatsink.
It can be bad video if there nothing on external monitor, but to tell for sure you may visit someone who can take a closer look to your laptop.
