I have an 1982 capri RS that I'm almost done rebuilding. I hope to have it as nice as this one some day. I'll do everything in my power to never part ways with it because of how rare they've become and how much fun they are. Thanks for the content
The 82 rs was the best body of any fox body. The full length hood scoop and non bubble hatch, when combined with nicer wheels than stock, just a mean machine.

My step-brother had a 1980 Mercury Capri with the 3.8 V6 and 4 speed manual trans in the late 80's, His was the dark silver/pewter with black and dark red interior. I'm a GM guy but IF I could find one of these Foxbody Capri's halfway on the cheap I'd buy it in a heartbeat, we had alot of fun in that car and the ladies loved it.

Very nice to see they kept the factory bubble back hatch! Usually that is the first thing to go when people buy the 83-86 Capri's. I have a heavily modded 1984 RS Capri with a 347 that has been in my family since new. These cars are so rare these days due to the limited amount of the RS Capri's made. My year car there was just over 3,600 RS 5.0 Capri's built. Because they were not as popular as the Mustang a lot of them went to the scrap yard instead of being saved. You will rarely ever see one on the road. I have people come up to me all the time when I take mine out. Most people don't even know what it is! If you look up 1984 Mercury RS Capri on most search engines my car usually comes up within the first 10 pictures. It is white with red, orange and silver stripes with Centerline rims. Very cool cars!
An old roommate had a '86 complete with louvers that covered the back glass, and I absolutely L O V ED I T!... I really like what they did with this car!👍

I loved the front end but I was always a notchback guy so ignored them. This is bringing back fun car memories of us all playing around in our cars thanks

Clearly the right person got it because now it’s one of the coolest Capri’s out there.
I absolutely LOVE the look of the Capri! People rag on the rear end but I think it's sweet AF with those solid red tail lights with the black horizontal lines.
I ordered a 1982 Capri RS 5.0 from the factory in April 1982. I got the recaro seats and TRX wheels. price was below 10k with a factory rebate at the time. it came with a 2 barrel carb, 4 speed manual which was a 3 speed with an overdrive, and factory traction bars. 157 HP for that model year. it was a heck of a car. The Capri had a different suspension tuning than the Mustang. They came out with the bubble back with the weird rear bubble window at the end of the models life so it could be used in some type of racing, i forget if it was IMSA or what the series was. I put 150 thousand on my 82 , put in a used 91 fuel injected 5.0 and drove it another 100 thousand. Great cars that didnt need all the whiz bang stuff the new cars have now. in 1982 the 5.0 equalled the corvette in a 0-60 time of 7.5 seconds. thats as fast as detroit cars were back then.
I enjoyed my fox body mustangs but I’ve always wanted a Capri! Love the uniqueness and the styling with the “squared” fenders and glass hatch into the recessed round taillights
I believe that a 5.0 Capri won the 1985 SCCA Showroom Stock Class A national championship. For 1985 the Capri 5.0 5 speed manual transmission was only available with the 2.73 rear axle ratio because of EPA rules because the bubble hatch made it heavier.
Hey Gearhead 704! I just got a unicorn foxbody mustang project car, it’s a roller but it’s a 1985 t-top coupe with capri fenders front and back put on. It is an original v8 5spd car and I’m gonna restore it and enjoy driving it with the tops off being the first fox I’ve owned that’s not a hardtop! I’ve had lots of foxes but this one is gonna be special👍🏻
Gorgeous they definitely knocked it out of the park with that build I love the wheels they really make it pop everything just stands out and I'm not much for the bubble hatch but it looks really good on that car it looks subtle compared to most of them I don't know if it's the color The tint or what.. interior is pretty cool definitely fits the style! another great video Matt thanks!!!
I’ve got an ‘84 RS Turbo also. My Dad bought it new in ‘84. Mint condition, bone stock. Drove it in my teen years. I’ll inherit it someday. Ultra rare- 1284 built, all charcoal grey. One of the rarest Fox’s.
I bought my wife a brand new 1982 Mercury Capri RS! She drove the s**t out of the car! Within 2 years she had put 63,000 miles on it. Sadly i had to replace the engine and let her go in 1985!

I've always liked the capris almost bought a rs 5.0 when I was in the marines. To me the pre bubble back glass cars look better. A buddy of mine has one it was a flat glass but he put the bubble on. I've thought about buying it as he has given up on the project. He still has the flat glass if I buy it that bubble glass is gone. BUT wife said I gota finish at least one of my mustangs b4 I buy any more projects even the Capri. Are you going to mustang week this year Matt? I'm planning to go it's the week of my birthday and the fox body cruise is on my birthday. What better way to celebrate than to do the cruise in one of my cars.

Imo, the Mercury Capri was actually the better looking of the two Fox ponies. Lincoln-Mercury should have promoted it more than they did. I guess Mom & Pop and luxury land yachts was L-M management's only interest.
You know, I kind of agree with you. I still prefer the Mustang look but their focus was definitely on the land yachts and they should've promoted it more.

It looks like my 84 LX vert under the hood, but it's 5.0 TB and auto/ they made the same LX vert package with 5.0 4bbl / stick , so when looking at product numbers for Triple White / Oxford White LX vert 5.0 by what I know from my car as it 100% stock with single pipe out the back, some of the early Fox bodies can be kind of rare to start modding up.
