This dirt cheap tuner sports car will never not be a good first car for Jdm fans but is it a good reliable daily driver? I hope you enjoy and if you do, please be sure to like, comment, and subscribe for more!!

    I'm a fairweather Integra driver. I bought my Integra GSR new in 1994 as a daily driver but decided to store it for the winter that year and continued to do so every winter since then mostly because of harsh winter climate and road salt. My Integra currently has 92,200 kilometers on the odometer as it sits in my garage. Although I put around 10k km on it the first year, I put fewer kms on it as the years went by and down to barely 300 to 650 km per year in the last 10 years. I've kept the car mostly stock (after market exhaust) and now I mostly take it out to local car meets.

    You need to experience the B18C5 engine on the DC2R. Night and day difference to the GSR. I bought mine new in 2000. Had zero problems with the vehicle itself. The main upgrade i made is the EWP. Significantly improving the responsiveness of the engine and output by removing the parasitic drag on the engine as the rev increases... remember this is an exponential function. It is the best upgrade! Also significantly improves the heat dissapation especially addressing the idle heat soaking in summer.
    To further improve the handling i have upgraded the suspension to Ohlins dual flow fully adjustable coilover, a vast improvement over the stock, much more comfortable as well. The disc rotors are now running on Project Mu with Endless pads, providing significantly improved stopping power. On the maintenance end. I went through 5 batteries, which is normal life cycle of lead acid batteries.. I have recently swapped in a LFP and connected to a Genasun solar to keep it constantly topped up. Overall the mechanical aspect of the DC2R is Super reliable.
    This year i am swapping ina new clutch master slave cylinders as preventive measures.

    99 gsr 170k on the body. Since I got it one year ago: alternator, battery, spark plugs, spark plug wires, dizzy, alternator again, motor mounts, lower alternator bolt, brake pads, rotors, and calipers all 4, clutch, clutch master, clutch slave, fuel pressure regulator gasket, door handle, sunroof, right side wheel bearing, and coilovers. Owned by my mechanics (well known Honda guy, good guy) friend (female) for 9 years. She took care of it, brand new paint job, engine tuck and shave, battery relocation, had nice wheels on it, good coilovers (got old and seized). Still had all these issues over the year. Maybe I’m just unlucky

    I don't have an integra, but I have an 02 wrx, a 94 Mx5 and 91 CRX, and for me, the biggest cons are probably the rattles, which I'm trying to track down and eliminate, and the 90's car wiring. My crx left me stranded so many times over stupid wiring problems.

    i ended up getting a 94 integra rs which unfortunately doesn't have the v-tec.
    first thoughts were yeah i felt let down by the speed especially when trying to climb a steep hill as i live in a very mountainous area.
    And the current oem exhuast is horrendous its covered in rust and is loose so it makes a constant rattle at half the rpms making it sound like the car is about to fall apart like legos, planning to get an aftermarket exhuast to prepare for future upgrades and also just solve that issue though.
    but those 2 little issues is about as bad as it gets for the car otherwise its done great over the last month or so of driving and im hoping despite the engine and trans being over 240K km on it that itll last 100K or even more or just long enough for me to save for a trans and engine swap when it does decide to kick the bucket

I drive a 2018 however I'm 50 and I feel like it's an older person's car personally but if you really like it who cares! It is very reliable as all Lexus and Toyota are I believe.💯

      @@markroden It's a pain but to be fair, Europe only ever got the Type R. We never got the "lower" spec models like the 1.6's and GSR/SiR 1.8's, nor the 4 door DB8's And those Euro Type R's run between 15-30k Eurodollars/Freedom bucks. Way cheaper than the US for that market's Type R, which is the most expensive worldwide & ironically the lowest , built down to a cost spec of all Type R's. Even though the Euro spec LHD cars are rarer. Sometimes crazy rare like the 200 run of Swiss only R' "2000" in yellow with yellow Recaros.

    I run one as a daily(JDM 98 Spec DC2 Type R in silver) and mostly have done since '05. Other stuff came and went, it kept going, and going. Reliable as granite. Like you say very good on petrol. I drove a JDM SiR(US GSR) for a while and the R is actually _better_ for go juice consumption(most drive them like nutters, so never find out😁). I suspect the less weight comes into play.
    The other _MAJOR_ thing and in my humble the biggest difference in the R; is not the uprated engine, chassis(and no it's not "seam welded"), bla bla, it's the limited slip diff. Makes a _massive_ difference to handling. If I had any FWD car and wanted to make it far better, the very first thing I'd do is drop an LSD into it(not a drug reference. Though that said...).
    Height wise, I'm 5'11" and find it fits pretty much perfectly. I drove a Mazda RX8 and that was daftly constricting, an RX7 even worse. Now granted I'm more leg than torso and run about 1.3 Mickjaggers in weight, so others may vary.
    And yeah it's a plasticky as feck 90's interior(those who lust after an R34 Skyline, they're as bad in standard form, about as reliable as a politician, with turbo lag measured in leap years) and the R version is like living in a sensory deprivation device. Tinnitus on wheels. Mad how you can get used to things. If I give a lift to anyone they're horrified. Handily it also means I can't hear their moaning, so there's that. Mine came minus a radio and speakers. I added them in. Shouldn't have bothered really. 😄
    TL;DR?(don't blame you) good review and lay down of experience, with a nice side order of humour which makes a nice change. Subbed. 👍

      Not everyone wants to or cares about VEeTAcK or going K. It's severely overdone and not nearly worth the money if you're just driving a daily.
      Going K alone costs $4-7k and doing LSV costs $2-4k. Not worth it at all.

    • @lf31wy
      @lf31wy หลายเดือนก่อน

      It’s not that expensive to go k anymore, plenty of good condition second hand parts , anything is better than the factory ls. If it were a gsr or a type r then I’d say leave it as is but it’s not .

    • @StarsetFlight
      @StarsetFlight หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@lf31wy It's just a daily though. B series are insanely cheap and reliable. And to swap your Integra to a K series is NOT cheap. More aftermarket parts now? Yes. "Cheap"? No.
      K engine: $800 (hope it works)
      TSX trans: $1000-1600
      K swap parts: $2000-4000
