    Bolts coming loose seems like a massive oversight of not using any kind of threadlocker. Torque really is not enough, just look at wheel lugs for example, they're always raw metal on metal but you're heavily advised to retorque after a few decent drives; though, most shops also over-torque the hell out of them and people never retorque them. Threadlocker on the other hand provides a solution for vibrational loosening, of which various frequencies will have various efficacy of loosening based on several factors, such as coupling, resonance, etc. But I find this oversight odd, the companies have been at desktop CNC routers for over a decade, and even in the DIY world it's been known that threadlocker is a must, so why does this highly preventable problem exist on such a product of quality and company history?
    I'd also be curious what the rest of the 2200 series can do in a well-tuned box, especially the 6 inch or a pair of them.

    Those subs are quite impressive. I installed a single AD2210D2 with a MK600.1 in a high output 4th order bass reflex enclosure tuned to 37hz. Really clean sub, and i could imagine the 8” capability. Test an 8th order bass reflex would be my next test.

  • @PrincipalAudio
    @PrincipalAudio 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +13

    7th order sounds veryyyy subby. Listening on my KH750 sub here. Crazy how much loudness you can get out of it! Although, the -phase shift- time response sounds a bit extreme. Nice for car, but I prefer a tighter sound for monitoring and/or listening. Great build!

    • @NiliMoto
      @NiliMoto 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      You heard a phase shift? Im on air pods so i didn't notice although i probably wouldn't have even with studio monitors. Can you say where in the video you noticed the shift?

    • @PrincipalAudio
      @PrincipalAudio 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

      @@NiliMoto Actually, I think I should've said "time shift", doh! I always confuse the two.
      The bass cabinet takes a few cycles to build up to full loudness, so the attack and punch of the bass is slowed a lot. Sounds like it's swelling rather than hitting.

  • @midnightsunindustries5239

    Awesome video, love the build!
    For fun, to piggy back onto this build in a future video, you could integrate a pair of midbass boxes, like a pair of 8" efficient drivers in sealed and stuffed boxes, especially with DSP for EQ, time, and phase alignment. As you know, it would really light up the upper bass area, 50- 120hz or so, where kick drums and floor toms really shine! We all love that visceral kick : )
    To make it more awesome yet, add folded horns to the front of the 8" dual midbass boxes for better matching acoustic impedance, and way more output, making them efficient enough for another compact class D amp to be plenty of power.
    Could be another fun project on the router!! : )
    I'm drawing up a front loaded horn design for a pair of 12" subs in the cargo area of our family suburban, I just need to find the time to build it.
    I'm really impressed with the killer deep bass you're getting with that awesome build! Thanks for sharing.

    OK, so after that in car demo at the end, a thought came to me - this is what I refer to as "liquidy bass". You said it was slow, or not tight, and OK, I get that. I have heard many different types of subs over the years, and I've owned a few sealed types that were excellent at the "tight, controlled bass", but I honestly prefer the effortless sounding liquid type of bass that this seems to produce.
    So here's my question - I have a home theater setup in the basement. I'm considering building a Full Marty to get that LFE into that "effortless" feeling, but I'm not sure that'll scratch the itch the same way that something like this will. What would you suggest looking into for a 12 ish cubic foot (or smaller, but size matters with the bass and subsonic levels LFE is for) sub? I know the Full Marty is excellent for this, but I'm so in love with the particular sound signature of this sub that I want to ask your thoughts. I mean, I can even go bigger with the sub, but I know that there comes a point where size isn't as important as design, and I'm wondering where that is and how to get solid "liquidy" sub bass and LFE.
    Either way, excellent video and content in general - keep it up and thank you for putting it out here for us!!

      Perfect? To many variables. How loud do you want it to play. Is there a size, min and max.? How low does it play?

    Dude this is an awesome video! Between the comedic breaks with the spy ballon, Peter Griffin and any other show or movie scene you put on. To the performance and overview of the machine, and finally the featured build and test. It’s all so well done! Absolutely amazing! I subscribed 2 months ago and love all the content! Cheers!
    18:27 by far my favorite test track!
