    some sentences aren’t strange for me with for+ing . thanks for helping me for instance - how cna we know when not to use it ?

      Usually, for verbing is used if the event happened in the past. For example, he was arrested for stealing (stealing happened before he was arrested) however, it is strange to say he was arrested for calming the public because the goal is calming the public. Here, you would say "he was arrested to calm the public."

    why FOR+ verbing isn’t correct ? too informal ways to speak? thank you, I’m gonna pass the test in one month and that helps me 😊
