Thanks for the info! I really didn't know that turtles could get fungus! And I just noticed that Shadow looks like he has a moustache! Ha! Ha! Love your video! :)
So I just want to double check, but with other turtle breeds you'd basically do everything the same except the brackish water right? Say for like a red-eared slider.
At what age would a hatchling no longer be considered a hatchling? I'm asking this because I have a box turtle who has just reached her year mark! And I was wondering when should I stop feeding her every day and switch to every other day?
I'm actually not as experienced with box turtles, I'm referencing aquatic species here however I think box turtles still should eat daily even at the one year mark
Sure! It's basically water that is too salty to drink, but is technically not "ocean" water. Brackish water has a specific gravity of about 1.008-1.015 (these numbers are very rough)
Hi Bryan, what species? Usually soft shell means calcium deficiency. Purchase some "Repti Cal" that comes in a powder, sprinkle on his favorite food, and in a month or so it should strengthen. Also, dont push too hard on their shells especially when young.
I notice your pond doesnt have a very good basking area. If u get them something that they can get all the way out the water to bask that should help with the shell rot
Wow I never knew about some turtles need brackish water until your videos thanks... You shouldn't make a video on what turtles need freshwater and brackish water and how to make brackish water.
Excuse me, my turtle's eyes can't open.I think infection of its eyes. Can u recommend some medication to my turtle? I really appreciate ,by the way, thanks for your videos on TH-cam. Yours turtle's are very beautiful and cute.
Thank u for ur advice, get a basking light and increase water temp. Also use ointment, it's getting better, I really like ur turtle so I bought a new one, very small and expensive ,but it's worthy. Your fans ,Andy
Hi there! A pond is not required to be heated for all turtles. I just made a video recently on brumation actually! (Turtle hibernation). The pond was dirty at first, however I cleaned it out so by the end of the video the turtles had a nice place to spend winter sleeping! Thanks for watching :)
Cool to see how you treated the fungus! Hoku had some when I first got him, but it was fixed up nice and quick by some bumped up water temps :)
Little Bean had a bit as well when I got her! Dry docking and anti fungal did it for me 😊 Thank you!
The turtle girl in the chat 🤣
Its ok that you took a break! I'm sure people wont care. Family and school is more important than TH-cam😊❤
Thank you! 😊😊

I hope you did well on your finals!! I have terrapins, thank you for the video
I did thank you 😊 Terrapins are simply the best
DanTheGuppyMan wish they weren’t illegal in my state, but fortunately, I’ll be moving in less than 2 years and will be able to get one
@@MichaelCleveland-by7jx That's good news though!
DanTheGuppyMan it is, and in hoping if your turtles lay eggs, you make a video over them
@@MichaelCleveland-by7jx I will!
Awesome vid Amigo!
Thank you!!!
Sweet that your mom loves the turtles too!
I'm very lucky 😊
Great vid as always Dan!
Thank you guys 😊😊😊
This was very interesting!!
Thank you so much 😊😊 I'm very glad you enjoyed it
Nice vid Dan.
Thank you!
Nice Videos , greetings from Germany ( Berlin)
Thank you so much!
Excelent and informative video. What type of salt did you use? Are you going to keep the brackish from now on?
I used water softening crystals. And I will keep them slightly brackish from now on 😊
@@DanTheTurtleMan_ good to know what can be used. One more just them three or all your lovelies will be kept brackish ?
how long can they be dry docked why treating , do they have to be re-hydrated through the process???
So I just want to double check, but with other turtle breeds you'd basically do everything the same except the brackish water right? Say for like a red-eared slider.
Do you have a video covering brackish water? If not, can you make one?
I do!!!! Check my channel or I can get a link
I have an orange fungus that looks the same in large patches on my yellow belly sliders? Will this method work with them as well?
Your turtles are well
Behaved. Mine try to bite me lol.
😂😂I actually trained them! I can make a video on it perhaps
@@DanTheTurtleMan_ yess plz do

DanTheGuppyMan Alrighty! I’ve looked allll over the internet for this question and I can’t find it anywhere! Thanks for your input :)
@@thingswithjade No problem!!!
59 is very cold
Not comparatively to their northern counterparts where the water can dip into the 20's and be frozen!
Can you please explain what brackish water is? I don’t get any results when I look it up
Sure! It's basically water that is too salty to drink, but is technically not "ocean" water. Brackish water has a specific gravity of about 1.008-1.015 (these numbers are very rough)
Saltwater has a specific gravity of about 1.025, and fresh I believe is 0-1.002
DanTheGuppyMan thanks man
Dan...where can i buy DBT??
What can I do to my baby turtle that have soft shell
Hi Bryan, what species? Usually soft shell means calcium deficiency. Purchase some "Repti Cal" that comes in a powder, sprinkle on his favorite food, and in a month or so it should strengthen. Also, dont push too hard on their shells especially when young.
Hellow my turtle is a baby red eared turtle her shell is soft
@@bryansomera4473 Calcium or cuttlebone!
@@DanTheTurtleMan_ thanks for that information
Hi! Isn't the ideal temperature for DBTs around 78 degrees?
Usually yes, but I am hibernating/brumating my Terrapins because it assists in breeding cycles 😊
I notice your pond doesnt have a very good basking area. If u get them something that they can get all the way out the water to bask that should help with the shell rot
Thank you! When it's winter time I usually pull out most of their wood and decor and basking areas, but as it warms up I add them back
Hey hello i just wanted to sau that you should get a yellow spotted amazon turtle they are awesome

I want to drink all of that pond water so badly
Do it.
Don't you think the cold could be a cause of the fungus?
Possibly, but I would find it unlikely given how non wide-spread it is
hey bro do softshell turtle need UVB?
Yes they do to my knowledge, however they don't bask too often
