why not just switch to oils?
Because sometimes you don't want to wait two days to keep on painting
Next Juanhidalgo video "Brush Licking full explanation with Brush Licking ASMR (2 hours)"?
Viral idea
@@JuanHidalgoMiniaturesI'd watch that
Not gonna lie these technique videos are far more important to me personally than any ‘Eavy Contrast video you’ve done in the past. Not to say I also don’t watch the hell out of those, but these really cover things which I believe a lot of painters don’t cover too well. Love this stuff.
Thanks mate
Thanks Juan !!! ❤
Happy to help
Love this tutorial man, great work as always!
Thanks!
Great video, thanks for going into detail, definitely had a light bulb moment after watching this. Reminded me of the old P3 painting videos where he always used 2 brush blending. This seems better as long as you keep the area small and workable. Thanks again and have a great day.
Yes with a single brush you have to work smaller and faster but I personally prefer it
Picked up this technique from one of your earlier videos, using it on my tyranid scheme with some success. Thanks again!
Happy to help
Yet another banger! Thanks Juan.
Thanks mate 😘
Another way to do it is to also with 2 brush blending, i have been using it alot, and its great.
Of course, I personally don't like to use two brushes but if it works for you keep doing it
Helpful, I'll use it for sure. Thanks for posting!

I’d really like to see more videos like this. Great job!
Thanks, I have a full playlist of them. Check them out
Great technique. I definitely started using it more, since I discovered your channel. I like this idea for a series as well.
BTW, I use needle droppers for my contrast paints - they have a long blunt syringe tip. They let me develop the habit of clearing the needle of paint with a gentle squeeze against a paper-towel. And now I no longer have the clogged/dried dropper stoppage issue. I had found the short plastic dropper tips just wouldn't let go of the paint and were always getting clogged.
That's a nice idea
It’s funny that I just watched the transferring citadel paints video before this one haha! Being new to the hobby I’ve had this happen a lot more than I’d like to admit. The other night it happened with some Vallejo plastic putty as well. Exploded all out of the back of the tube.
Lol, it's part of the experience
Thank you , Juan .

😘
❤ thanks man.

3:23 : I was like, wth just happened. After I saw the meme. I laughed very loud

Love this technique!! Can't wait to try it for myself. Any benefit of adding Contrast Medium to the paint before applying it on the model when feathering?
No, I only use medium if the colour is too Intense and I need to make it lighter
Is magic spoon any good for basing if you drop bits on your painting desk? Great vidoe as always even witht the premature errr paint placement!!
Magic Spoon is amazing and I'm sure they will work well as basing too
Looks like Hive Fleet Typhon colour scheme. I too have found this scheme most appealing.
It is indeed, I made a whole video about it
Ah! you amazing paintologist......... Two more screen grabs for my screensaver, there must be a market for a brush licking calender. On my 4th WWII 6mm army at the moment but these nechniques, I feel will get my Flintloque stuff on the table more quickly than my usual technique. Result!!
Happy to help!!
Another great video, thank you! Where can I find that werewolf model? Just those few steps and it looks awesome
It's from the game Cursed City
I nearly jumped out of my seat at 3:28
Happy to help 😘
Le has dado tanto cariño al bote que se ha emocionado y viendo ese momento pincel no es de extrañar 🙈🤣
Jajajaja
3:21 That is a thechnique i'm very well acquainted with
😘😘
Feathering is a technique I need to use more. It's such a smooth result that only really requires a little speed.
Temperature is a real factor with this, but another one is humidity. A room with dry air is gonna cause the paint to dry faster than a more humid room will. Good climate control can help a lot in places with hot weather.
For sure, a good climate control will help massively here
Feather it brother!
YES!!!
For the dropper explosion: I had that happen at the old place we were renting, but it was a full on explosion of Dark Reaper color. It went EVERYWHERE. It was all over the walls, the curtains, my desk, my painting lamp. It was horrific.
Lol
I like the tips on your dropper bottles - they are so much finer than mine. Do you ever have problems with clogg... Oh. Never mind.
Lol
Always find myself laughing out loud (especially at your modus operandi which now seems to be a brush-licking interlude every video) at your videos as well as learning some great tips Juan! Hope you're well brother
I just found it amusing, specially for these technique videos to showcase the brush licking part of the process 😂
@@JuanHidalgoMiniatures I found it highly amusing too, right up until the point where my girlfriend watched a few seconds over my shoulder and immediately booked a one-way flight to Bilbao.
You owe me a follow on IG now 😂
I had issues with contrast paint drying before I could blend it out, so I mixed Vallejo retarder into it to try and give myself more time.... but it completely destroyed the consistency of them. They'd no longer blend or behave like contrasts and became worse than just using thinned down regular paints.
Yeah you can't mix other chemicals into them, it changes them too much.
Sometimes, depending on the weather this technique might not be really feasible sadly. You can try to do it with two brushes and see if that works
I held eye contact. ;-)
What a champ!!
laughed so hard xD
Happy to help 😘
can we please have a brush licking tutorial? the internet needs it
I'm more than happy to help with that
There is a correct way, the Juan way lol.
The only Juan
I actually gave this a like at the point where he said, "with not contrast paints."
😂😂😂😂 thanks
After Two thin coats you should create your line of colours, the "Not Contrast Paints"
I already have one, it's called Xpress Color
Gotcha

Brush-Licking techniques that the Pros use! (Part 7 of 78)
It's all about your tongue game
I cant thank you enough for all the slow motion brush licking.......er I mean the the tips on feathering. My bugs from the Leviathan boxset are 10x better for it.
Happy to help
A new signature move is born, I expect many brushes to be licked in future videos. 😅
Oh I've licked SO MANY BRUSHES already
@@JuanHidalgoMiniatures experience is always key 😀
My forbidden secret glazing technique is to use hot dog water instead of medium.
🤫🤫🤫
This is more to wet wiping technique. For glazing will be extremely diluted paint. Paint it layer by layer feathering up. In order to use both wet wiping n glazing, it only works in cold temperature place while hot n humid place tend to dry up paint v. v. fast.
Different people call it different names but the principle stands
As adults, all joy is sacked out of our lives.
Truest thing I've ever said
As an official newest member of your club I can confirm
I have to say, that 3:13 transition was pretty dramatic indeed ;)

I got introduced to glayering by a pro painter
Careful, the first time it's free but then you have to pay. Never trust them pro-painters
@@JuanHidalgoMiniatures i keep that in mind for my pro painter career. But seriously he talks about glayering in all his TH-cam videos
I know It as "loaded brush" and say it fine by Buddah painting.
That's a completely different technique though. Loaded brush uses paint in the brush when you spread it, in fact it uses two different paints to create the blends on its own
@@JuanHidalgoMiniatures now everything Has to have a name. I did not know I knew so many techniques lol I remember that drybrush was one for like 10 years. Then I found out about glazes. Everything else is in between really. Feathering and loaded brush all are a type of glaze. At least from my perspective.
Greetings from Australia, love your videos,I would take care picking brushes as some paints contain things like cadmium in the pigments and as a biochemist/ biologist I can tell you these things aren’t good for you.
Ah, the hazards of dropper bottles. Richard Grey doesn't use them, and even converts all of his dropper paints to empty flip-top pots. Most people have just bought into the narratives without researching for themselves:
"Less wasted paint!" - When you use a wet palette, you don't waste paint anyway.
"Paint dries around the rim of flip-top pots and then it won't seal!" - It dries in the dropper tip as well, and around the corkscrew grooves of a twist on cap, so it's the same.
"More precise measurements of paint ratios with drops!" - Than what, a brush load? I have just as much control of that as a random drop, and no splash. Also, the dropper tip eventually comes unsealed from the bottle, and one day when you are attempting to put some on the palette, the trip just falls out and paint dumps everywhere. That never happens with pots. And again, with a wet palette, you don't need measurements in drops and you don't waste paint.
Also, the narrower dropper bottles make it more difficult to keep pigment and mediums mixed thoroughly without adding an agitator, which can then lead to the displaced dropper tip mentioned above.
There are pros and cons to both, and no one has gotten it right yet.
It's just a choice, I prefer droppers other prefer pots. Both options are fine
4:00. AGAIN. jesus, Juan.
😘
I wanna see more full 'eavy contrast videos :-)
Me too, but right now they are not compatible with a tight sponsor schedule and two kids. They just take too long to make
@@JuanHidalgoMiniatures Fair enough, kids are more important than anything
The only trick glazers dont want me to know is how to get them out of Man Utd!
LOL
lol juan
😘
Great work as always and very helpful (I feel molested)
Happy to help 😘
Wait, I thought glazing was the one trick that featherers don't want you to know about 😂
The latest video is always the one trick you need to know about
The latest video is always the one trick you need to know about
: )
😘
I thought everybody painted like this - I guess people who have only ever painted miniatures don't automatically know picture painting techniques.
Most people don't and that's why I made the video and why I think this kind of technique videos are so useful
You're disgusting ... But you're the best 😆
That's how I roll
"Because Magic Spoon is made with a milk protein blend, our cereal is not vegan or dairy-free. We don't have plans for a vegan or dairy-free cereal in the immediate future," fuq dat stuff :( i want my dair free of animal cruelty :(
Yeah, sadly that is the case and I really wish they would have a vegan option but since I'm not vegan I have no issues promoting it.
I understand though
Thumbs up for the cringe
