Re-watching this makes me realise this is one of the greatest wins in the history of the sport. So many overtakes

Greatest wins in the history? Hard to fathom when the champ or # 2 driver (in championship) weren't on the grid. And I support Checo - I was hoping to hear him ask if his son was watching in this video but this is far from greatest wins material.

@@gruiaradu4600 far from it. Like I stated - I was very proud of Checo in the race. But how can this be one of the greatest wins in history when the #1 & #2 guy are out of the competition? Honestly, it's kinda like everyone got a chance to relax because Hamilton & Max were out. There's simply nothing great about that.
@@lateonbrakes they were out because mistakes were made, either crash or mistake from the teams. Winning is winning, it counts as much you like it or not. Everyone makes mistakes, even hamilton. This last race, Hamilton had basically the first place handed when he made that mistake, and he couldn't keep up with Perez with a damaged engine before the red flag. So yeah, stop hating.
I’m proud of Sergio Perez because he continued on, no Flashback or Restart Race used. He just changed strategies and carried on from last to first. What a champ! Gracias Checo!

Perez has done the most masterful driving of the year. Consistency, aggressiveness, concentration and determination. A racing masterpiece that will last and be remembered forever.
I wanted Russell to take victory, but Perez did the drive of the season.
A podium at least but that embarrassing error in the pits with the tyres costed him the race. ☹️

It's not the first time he starts from the back. He's know to manage tires really well and also be in the points as much as possible. He has always had consistency but now he has more speed.

Perez has always been a favourite of mine. Watched him in his McLaren days pulling off aggressive moves and have supported him since. The moment I’ve been waiting for a long time has finally come. Still doesn’t feel real...
I've been waiting for this day since seeing Perez and Kobyashi racing in the Sauber back in 2011 & 2012...
I've been waiting since he came so close in Malaysia 2012
Malaysia 2012 was a crying shame as was Italy (again just behind Alonso).
I remember seeing Perez as an F2 driver at Silverstone in 2010. Saving tyres and still winning by 8 seconds over 20 laps was a statement of intent to see.
@@SIXITHS Perez and Kobayashi line up was something of legends, Kobayashi agressive and kamikaze overtakes, so exiting to watch along with the raw speed and talent of Checo... i was sad to see Kamui go.
This is amazing. I've said it before and I'll say it again. To quote Senna: "if you don't go for a gap that exists, your no longer a racing driver". Sergio seems to have taken those words to heart.
Nah it was Leclerc who took it by heart and launched up the inside of Perez just as Senna did to Prost.

Stroll looked very rookie in that defense.
What's so funny about that? He did this one mistake that really cost him. After that he drove very well. He did struggle to get past Ocon though. Maybe the smell of victory could have helped him past at the end. We'll never know. He defended well against Sainz and the train that gobbled up Bottas.

I was praying in the last 5 laps that the tyres, power unit and everything was ok to win, and when he cross that line with that black and white flag I just start crying, finally was Checos day.

Why you never ever give up in Racing. This race will be remembered like Canada 2011.
Even more because Button had alot of help from a safetycar.
That race was crazy long with breaks in the racing because it was too wet, very impressive talent Button had for finding the grip on a drying track... Perez has similar abilities, but this was all on a bone dry track, even more impressive as he made many drivers look ordinary.
That was technical masterclass from driver as well as team

If u watch the video again, literally NOBODY overtook him in the race lol! He lost all places in lap 1 due to collision which was not his fault & even when he pitted, he didn't lose a place! Incredible tyre management & strategy

IMO, he's the third best driver this season behind Hamilton and Verstappen, and far ahead of everyone else.
Wellllll Gasly and Sainz have been killing it too in all honesty. Is the season, the season of the rejects. All three of them were proving everybody wrong. Even Kvyat is starting to do well now all of a sudden
Naaah, Hamilton is NOT the best driver this season.
What about Charles? I know the car isn’t as bad as it was before, and it’s performance is track dependent, but he got two podiums in the first 5 races and is still, somehow fighting for 5th in the Championship with Norris.
I’m a Max fan, but credit where credit is due.

Check has proven to be consistent and just simply better than most of the drivers on the current grid. Racing point were wrong to leave him.

Mercedes: The one who pre-register and lead all the way.
Ferrari: The old school player, but didn't pre-register and now struggling to chase the leaders.
Renault: Colebrating with other players at first, but lost all teammates after decided to try on he's own.
Honda: The old school player who quit for years and thought he was a pro... And got mocked after dramatic fail, but refuse to give up, until they fight back to be on top once again... Almost, and quit before that 😵 (Honda please stay😭)

I didnt realise he actually overtook so many cars on track.
Yep, I could see him moving up all throughout the race, but the race director didn't bother showing most of them, so some people just thought he "got lucky" with safety cars.. When it was mostly his great driving that got him into 3rd before the Mercs messed up.
And he achieved all this with an old engine and old car floor... Amazing drive! 🥇🇲🇽

Remember seeing Checo at Silverstone in 2010 when he was a F2 driver - all cars nearly the same and, as I recall, he won by about 8 seconds over 20 laps while "saving tires".
Knew then he had the potential to be extraordinary - shame it's taken 10 seasons (and Alonso's retirement) but so glad to see him finally win.
