When people say TTPD all sounds the same I honestly feel like they're gaslighting me. I mean everyone is entitled to their opinion but there's no way loml and ICDIWABH could be accused of being the same, and I could randomly pick any rub of three songs from the tracklist and they'd be completely different from each other
I will be the guilty one and say I felt that way at the first listen. And then the second listen, I was like....ummmmmmmm I need to rethink everything my brain thought earlier and reevaluate my recent life decisions. I don't want to talk about the 3rd or 4th listens. haha!
I think that you (along with 90% of the rest of the world’s population) are taking Taylor’s lyrics too literally. Taylor is an artist, not a documentarian. Her music is “diaristic” and “confessional” in the sense of inspiration, but that doesn’t mean that people should think they are exposing “reality” when they try to pinpoint who any particular song is “about” as if the song was a chapter in her autobiography. She’s conveying emotions rooted in personal history and she sprinkles in real life details but her primary goal, as an artist is generally not to tell us “true stories”, as such. TTPD has become my favorite album. Not just my fave Taylor, but my fave of all time. I agree with some swifties who have said this album is a “grower, not a shower.” That has been my experience. I liked it when I first heard it but, as of now, I’ve grown completely obsessed with it. More obsessed than I’ve ever been with any other album. After over 30 listens, I’m still entranced. I still listen to it every day.
This is such a vulnerable, personal and emotional album. It wasn't written for the fans, but as a way to process, then put behind her a variety of emotional highs and deep lows. The first listen through is difficult, it's painfully focused on the lyrics, and the music is a vessel to carry her messages with much less emphasis on hooks and beats. This whole album, and it's second part, are really growers.
She said she is giving the album to her fans. Written first for herself, but gifted to (or dumped on - lol) the fans. FWIW, I love all of it minus Robin, which I exclude for philosophical reasons. A grower and a stayer.
clara bow is a song about females in the spotlight. Three names were dropped: Clara bow, stevie nicks, Taylor swift. Every 50 years, people just wants someone new
But "only when [their] girlish glow, flickers just so"... She is also talking about the absolutely horrific things a female star has to put her body and mind through to get those "big breaks". Like you also have to break and sacrifice your bones to the beast that is beauty on all fours 😭
It is her sad songs that make me stay a fan of her's lolm is a masterpiece to me...but I think knowing the back story helps understand, but the lyricism is poetry.
i understand maybe you don't like sad songs... but honestly i can tell apart taylor's sad songs because i love them they are my favourites honestly and i hope she never stops doing them
The comments you said at the end of lomI, think you are just saying what most of the "haters" of this album said (and actually you talked about it at the beginning): "it´s more of the same" "they sound like songs she already has done" "they're repetitive" ... and it is because most of her songs are connected, once you get the context, that is gonna change... and i'm sure this album will also grow up in you as it did with many of us. Cheers!
I think he made up his own mind; I’m just sorry he focused on the sound rather than the lyrics, which I think are stunning. I also think they didn’t want the production to be a distraction-can you imagine all the layers of “I Can Do It Either a Broken Heart” for that one? 😬
@@iteachlit That's why "King Of My Heart" is one of my least favorite in reputation album. I wanna process the lyrics but the sounds are so messy, chaotic and busy.
I think he was focusing on his dog more than the whole album. Granted, his dog is cute, but at least try to act like you’re paying attention to the album. The yawning throughout the entire video was annoying as well. Get some sleep already!! If I’m going to watch a reaction video, I expect people to be focused on the music and lyrics. You can like it or hate it, but at least be awake and focused. That was really annoying, tbh.
who's afraid of little old me....mostly the media; also she didn't sue; during this time. There was a lawsuit during her Red Album age 22-23 ish. she was sexually assaulted by a Radio Dj. He got fired and then sued her for millions of dollars, and she countersued for $1. She won, but it is a sad story. Ok moving onto present time, her old record label screwed her over, abusive etc. sold her Masters to Scooter Braun (Not a very well liked person these days as many people are leaving him)....anyway, since she writes her own music, she is in the process of re-recording her 6 albums from former label. She has re-recorded 4/6. She does give credit to Kelly Clarkson who simply suggested she re-record her albums since she writes her own songs. So for every album she has successfully re-recorded, she calls it Taylor's version lol. Fans try to stream only Taylor's version. Also she sends Kelly Clarkson flowers every time she releases a re-record. I have also read that Bryan Adams was inspired by Taylor and he is re-recording his own songs to own his own version/masters. Ok That was alot. someone else please feel free to make any corrections if I have given any mis-information.
if taylor stop making song like loml, i'll never listen to her ever again. its her best type of work. like cold as you in debut album, white horse in fearless, last kiss in speak now, sad beautiful tragic in red, you are in love in 1989, new years day in reputation, soon you'll get better in lover, all of folklore really, champagne problem plus evermore in evermore, youre losing me, and all of the anthology. thats the soul of taylor. come on!
Could not cut out those songs, at all. You do have to understand the concept of this album and look at the lyrics to get it, but those songs are integral to the album, and beautifully written. Loml is one of her best songs. I like the change of pace with the next song( it’s needed), but the sad ones are needed too.
I was surprised to know how many songs here were influenced by Matty, I was expecting more about Joe. But after hearing that even tho matty and Taylor officially dated for 2 weeks (a Fortnight) they were on and off for years. This album is definitely a grower, it took me time to fully digest the songs and the meanings behind them.
i didnt love it at first, i kind of shared similar initial thoughts to many people where things sounded almost too cohesive in a sense regarding production, but after a few more listens, I find that I really like the majority of all 31 tracks. I think I’d say I even like it more than Midnights, mainly because I like how much more of an open, honest and vulnerable of an album it is. Kind of like she’s just putting it all out there for anyone that’s been wanting to figure out whatever she’s been feeling in her life, and cutting out a lot of the need for interpretation
It's basically when you get to a certain age, your friends either have babies or they're partying and they smell like weed. So you're in between two stages of life
Songs 1-4 Matty Healy from the band 1975, song 5 So Long London is Joe Alwyn (6 yr. relationship), on Taylor's Lover album she has a song called London Boy which is Joe.
Intense comment incoming: 🔥 What about with your clickbait, is actually good?. You need to know Taylor is co producer of all this album. I don’t know why people are stripping away the production work of Taylor, she’s been doing since her second album. She’s part of the producers and engineers wing of the Grammys. Those people who said this double album was awful were actually haters who would say anything, like those lyrics, they don’t know anything about lyricism and descriptive language, you actually need to know the language to use it, like literary devices, copywriting techniques. “You smoke and ate 7 bars of chocolate, we declare charlie puth should be a bigger artist” is the same descriptive language as “our fields of dreams engulfed in fire” is just the latter is a metaphor and more poetic but a great songwriter NEED TO HAVE BOTH because we are not poetic and tortured every moment of our life, we talk shit a lot. Hahah
After her breakup with Joe Alwyn after 7 years she dated Matty Healy for a short time. It ended after a few weeks of her concert start. Matty is lead for the band 1975. Most songs are about him. I think she had already gotten over joe. So long London is about Joe
Na, Joe just didn't destroy her with horrific behaviour. Their relationship ending was just heartbreaking. Matty caused her to emotionally cheat. He hooked her when she was heartbroken and vulnerable. He love bombed her and promised her marriage and babies in the first few weeks of getting together again in 2023. Slept with her, lied to her about being sober (he was not), cheated on her and then ghosted her. Ratty Matty is fking horrific. And that's not even starting on what a rcist piece of 💩 he is.
You’d have to be void of “lyrics” to not envelop TTPD. Most beautiful songwriting, without question. You may have to listen a few times to grasp the lyrics.
The album is kinda a reaction to Midnights in the sense that she did momentarily leave Joe but something brought them back together, she left for the tour and he ended things I guess, she was reeling but had the tour and then Matty love-bombed her, promised marriage and kids and then ghosted her. The album is honestly devastating, no one should have to go through that while also dealing with media scrutiny, pressure from fake fans, and a label still expecting her to push out her rerecords, preform and record a new album.
She didn't leave Joe. They were apart at one point because he was away filming and she was in the studio, but they weren't broken up from any lyric she's written about their relationship. You're Losing Me wasn't a breakup song. It was a "we are heading for a breakup unless you pull yourself out of your depression because I can't stay with you in your sadness anymore" song 😭 They mutually ended the relationship and made the final decision when she was on the Florida stop on the Eras tour.
@@laramorrison5973 nope. I've never seen a single indication of that in one single lyric of Swift's. And she says it ALL THE TIME. If she doesn't sing about it, it didn't happen. They were never on again off again. They were together for 6 solid years.
@@emmavink there's many references to it on lover, midnight's and folklore. "And I lost you, The one I was dancin' with" "How the hell did we lose sight of us again? Sobbin' with your head in your hands. Ain't that the way shit always ends?"
London is Joe Alwyn a british guy she dated for 6 years who promised her a proposal and children and a life together and the relationship just fizzled out. She has a ton of songs about him mostly in lover and reputation albumsl. Matt Healy the front man of the 1975 band she dated in the summer of last year a very short relationship has some songs in this album (the smallest man who ever lived) is the biggest one. Travis has 2 songs in this album. I don't like to pick a part who each song is about in this album I am just letting you know her past/present relationships to give you an idea. I am more focused on her mental health when it comes to this album.
Joe never promised Taylor a proposal or babies. They were too young when they started. Ratty Matty love bombed her and HE promised her marriage and babies in the first month of being together. That's why even lmol is about Matty 🤷
Also, it didn't "just fizzle out" with Joe. He was depressed, she was emotionally cheating. It ended because neither of them could get their shyt together to make it work.
It’s definitely a grower. The thing is most people listen to music once and they based their first impression whether they like it or not. Also, it is difficult to let people try listening to the same music more than once especially if the artist and the genre is not their cup of tea.
40:55 exactly my thoughts i think guilty as sin goes deeper than a religious allegory; it's moreso about emotional cheating and the religious implications of feeling sinful in that way at the core of WAOLOM, she addresses and mocks all the rumors that surround her professional and personal life. every single conversation online HAS to revolve around taylor and most of the time it is haters bringing it up.
Ahhh, the metaphors of Taylor's songs and the non Swifties trying to decipher them is probably two of my favorite things! You did great, too! As a long time Swiftie from allll the way back to Fearless, I was able to figure 90% of it out first listen, but that other 10% took me a little while lol
I believe that some songs sounds similar to some of her other songs on purpose. Some songs on other albums are the beginning of a story and some of these songs on this album are the ending of that story. If that makes sense
She just basically purged everything in her mind and heart that she’s been feeling and holding in for the last decade or so… she was quoted as saying something about this album closing the door on those past relationships that ended, she accepted that she had some responsibility in the breakups but that it’s in the past and she’s done. Also told the fans to leave these people that she’s singing about alone.
“Who’s afraid of little old me” is about the media. The things that they have said about her. She did counter sue a man for 1 dollar for sexually assaulting her.
I think out of the double album,31 Tracks Backwards is 13 her favorite #. The Anthology is my favorite one of the 2 I love the Anthology, I think it's the best album is her best so far.
'my friends all smell like weed or little babies.' women of her age are either still single and partying or they're nesting and have babies. very relatable lyric.
The smallest man who ever lived where u said she was talking about prison time and personsl things is rumored to be about Matty Healy from the band 1975. Most of album is about him and London (her 6 yr relationship with Joe Alwyn) hope that helps. And yes there's a couple about Travis. The alchemy and the one u spoke about in the beginning "touch me while your bros play (I forget the game now) but the songs called so highschool in the anthology. Hope that helps #SWIFTIE and it's funny cause the ones u didn't like the slower ones are some of the ones the swifties love the most! But that is my opinion. U asked how people thought of those songs.
Can you react to Beyoncé “Cowboy Carter “, it’s the 2nd biggest female artist album of the year, so surprised you haven’t covered it yet. She’s releasing the official vinyl edition with updated cover art on June 28th so it would be the perfect time. It would also be interesting to see Twenty One Pilots “Clancy” reaction, another recent release this year.
I think it's some of her greatest lyrics! It's hard to pick her best. But golden retriever (loyal, true, faithful, always come back). Love this album and the anthology!!! ❤🎶🎧
Loml definitely doesn’t sound like anything else. If anyone can say what it sounds like, I’d love to know. For me it’s the gut punch of the first half of the album.
If you actually listened to loml without distraction and spent time to think about it and study the lyrics you'd realise its the best and deepest song on the album. This album is an album you need to lean forward and invest time to reap the rewards and enjoy how good it truly is.
1:22:40 more like that's what alot of people already say about Olivia Rodrigo when she blew up in 2021... also Olivia has the edge Taylor never really did, I personally like to interpret it like that cuz it's fitting... the bridge of Taylor's song "nothing new" is speculated to be referring to Olivia as well which is really fitting. Also Olivia's song "the grudge" could be about Taylor .
Dylan Thomas, great Welsh poet of early 20th century; Patti Smith, great singer/songwriter/poet of mid-20th century; Chelsea Hotel in NYC which has housed nearly every great writer/musician since Mark Twain and Thomas and Smith and Bob Dylan, Mick Jagger, etc., etc.
My friends all smell like weed or little babies, I think it means that she’s at the age where she has some friends who are still partying and smoking and some are becoming parents and getting married
TTPD is a moreb a grower album, more you listen it , more you like it, it take me a few more listen to fully enjoyed the album and I think that its because on this album she goes like verry deep on what she wants tells to the world .For me the first part of the album have most similitudes to Midnights and The Anthology more to Folklore but it’s a good combo .I love his sad songs like loml cause they are the best sad songs ever and are really well writings ,and makes me alyways cry .As you can see most of the songs talks about relationship that she had .One for a relashion ship of 6 years almost 7 , that guy is born on London ( So long , London talks about him and the after break up of their realationship ) , and one guy is a member of a group of 1975 group and the main singer . For doing simple this 2 relationships was pretty close on the time like she ending the story with the first guy to go for the second guy and break-up like very not long after being with him . Some song are talking too about his public life ( his fans , the music industry , the criticism, all the drama she came through(: But Daddy I Love Him,Who's afraid of little old me , Clara Blow and some somgs on the second part of the album I'm not going to spoil this ) ..For me TTPD is on my Top 1 and then Folklore with Evermore ( yes I put them together ) for the Top 2 and Réputation for my Top3 and Midnights for my Top 4 and 1989 for my top 5.
So Long London, LOML and I Can Do It With A Broken Heart refers to JOE ALWYN, British Actor, her boyfriend of 6 years (2017 to 2023) She obviously wanted to marry him. JOE ALWYN was the SLAMMER relationship. the song LOVER was written for him. Matty Healy inspired Fortnight, Down Bad, But Daddy I Love Him, Smallest Man Who Ever Lived, I Can Fix Him, Fresh Out the Slammer The Alchemy and So High School (the anthology) - Travis Kelce
I would argue that most of But Daddy I Love Him is about Kelce. She talks about chemistry in The Alchemist too and Taylor's parents never liked or likely even spent any meaningful amount of time with Healy. Loml is also about Healy, by the way. He was the conman with the get love QUICK scheme who has had 2 music videos in the style of old Buster Keeton/Charlie Chaplin black & white movies.
I Can Do It With A Broken Heart is about Matty, not Joe. Taylor and Matty dated in the first summer of the Eras tour, "if rusting my sparkling summer was the goal". And she needed the crutual evidence in drawers to probe that the suoer short clusterfk of a relationship with ratty Matty actually happened. loml is also definitely NOT about Joe. He never promised her marriage or babies. They started too young for that (no way Taylor ever showed she wanted marriage or babies in her later 20s already) and they would have moved onto that if they had stayed together. Whereas Matty has promised her marriage and babies in less than 2 months of dating... Most likely within the first weeks of that relationship. She never called Joe a coward before. She has just told him she couldn't stay with him in his depression anymore, and if he wasn't going to get help for it, she had to go. In So Long London, she wishes Joe love for the future. She definitely doesn't wish the man in loml future love or happiness. I initially thought loml was about Joe too until I realised that she ISN'T saying that she loved Matty more by saying he's the loss of her life. She is saying that he is the worst breakup she's ever had and she is embarrassed by how he treated her. I think she is saying that she lost a part of her own identity with Matty. Whereas with Joe, is was heartbreak and sadness and all the normal stages of grief. She expresses anger in So Long London... But that moves on into acceptance and well wishes by the end of the song. I've been doing A LOT of lyric analysis in the past 2 months 😅 I hope these arguments make sense to you.
@@emmavink I'd like to hear your argument for why "most" of But Daddy I Love him is about Kelce. The "daddy" in the song is the fans, and its in response to the fans not wanting her to date Matty. It seems clear as day to most. Why would any of it be about Travis?
@@johnbutler5140 because Taylor was angry about how the fans reacted to Matty. But she knows he deserved it (because she wrote songs about him being awful). But Taylor lost her absolute SHIT when those same fans started accusing Kelce of being an abuser after he yelled at his coach once in a game and the coach stumbled back a few steps. Daddy in the song is NOT those fans. Vipers in empaths clothing are those fans. Judgemental creeps are those fans. The wine moms and the Hannahs and Sarah's are those fans. She wouldn't address her fans as Daddy because her other non toxic fans aren't asking her to explain herself. And she knows she doesn't need to ask for fan approval. She purposefully addresses both her parents later in the song as well. I don't think one could reasonable argue that Daddy is a metaphor. Lyrically, I would say in the first part of the song, Matty represents the man who was "chaos and revelry". She could even be linking him to loml through the imagery of "tendrils tucked into a woven braid" and "I'm combing through the braids of lies". But her description of the man in question starts changing quite soon. Also, she literally says, "but fk 'em, it's over"...aka, her fling with Healy. In The Alchemy (which is most certainly about Travis), she says "I haven't come around in so long" and in the second half of But Daddy I Love Him, she says, "we came back when the heat died down, went to my parents and they came around". The man she talks about then she describes as "my wild boy and all of his wild joy" and that he's a bit crazy is another man. Aka Kelce. I think you could even go a step further and connect But Daddy I Love Him to So High School as well. Which again, we know is about Travis. She talks about "the beat of my heart when he touches me" and in So High School she says "touch me while your bros play Grand Theft Auto". And if we were being REALLY cryptic, we could even link the sanctimonious soliloquies directly to imagery of High School (every decently educated high school student should learn the word soliloquy from studying Hamlet) and to the line from So High School, "you know how to ball, I know Aristotle". You know, he's the jock. She's the nerdy girl on the bleachers studying philosophy and English Lit 😊 In the Alchemy, she says "these chemicals hit me like white wine" and in But Daddy I Love Him, she says, "and counteract the chemistry, and undo the destiny". So dual specific references to chemistry. So yes. I would say there is more than enough substantiating lyrical proof connecting Kelce to But Daddy I Love Him 🤷♀️
In "Who's Afraid of Little Old Me," she literally says it's the circus life that made her this way and then she's getting backlash for anything she does. She is what she is because "we" trained her.
In The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived when Taylor say "you tried to buy pills from a friend of friends of mine." She's talking about Matty Healy who is a recovering herion addict also when she says" You kicked out the stage lights but your still performing" She's referring to Matty's history of breaking equipment while on stage. In Loml when she says " You cinephile in black and white." She's referring to Joe Alwyn who is an actor from London and she dated him from 2017 - 2023. When she says " I'll sue you if you step on my lawn. She could be referring to one of two things if not both. She sued a DJ at a party for $1 because he assaulted her but I'm pretty sure she also sued Olivia Rodrigo because how similar her songs sound to taylor. Hopefully that fills in some blanks
respectfully disagree with your take on loml, though I get it, your first impression with new songs is the busy production that grabs you, so I understand. to me loml and I Can Do It are the best of the album.
Ironic that a guy who doesn’t understand the golden retriever fascination is the only commentator I’ve seen to actually understand that lyric lol. Golden retriever guys are usually fun and happy go lucky. Taylor is saying she wants someone like that, but with Tattoos.
Weed or little babies -> that point in your life where all your peers are either married and having babies or still partying and not interested in settling down, but you don’t belong in either group
I love Midnights, but I like TTPD better. I have barely listened to anything else, and I mean out of all music, not just TS's stuff, since the album dropped 2 months ago. It's just so good, for me. I know music is subjective.
There’s a couple bangers: “ so high school “ “daddy I love him,” ““, “ whos afraid of lil ol me”, and “guilty as sin” is excellent, but there’s some bloat on the extended track version. Middle of the road swift album. I’m liking it more over time
There’s nothing wrong with the lyrics or production choices on this album. It’s the album she wanted to present, and she probably had specific reasons for including lyrics that some criticize. Oh well. My thought is that many reviews were canned or based in their own negativity that has nothing to do with the album. You can’t review such an expansive work of art within a day or two of its release. If anyone has a problem they should write produce and perform their own album and see how it sells. For me it’s my favorite of her albums because it’s the first I identify with. It’s adult. It’s raw. It’s painful. It’s beautiful.
To anyone who thinks all the tracks sound the same: A challenge. Take any 2 random songs from the album and compare them. Repeat until you find 2 which you find sound the same. Then come here and tell us which they were.
Taylor never confirmed who her songs on this album are for, The Tortured Poets Department is definitely about Matty Healy though and I think My Boy Only Breaks His Favorite Toys I’m not sure but seems like Matty by how brutal the lyrics were and he fucked her over while Joe is an ex we love. Down Bad is most likely about an alien she loved “They’ll say I’m nuts if I talk about the existence of you” “For a moment I knew cosmic love” “I’ll build you a fort on some planet” And the sounds added to the songs that give an outer space vibe. So Long, London is about Joe 100% the guy she dated for 6 years but he sadly didn’t wanna marry her :(. But Daddy I Love Him is about Matty Healy, she didn’t like that people would give her reasons why she shouldn’t be with him and she’s saying that it’s her choice and the end of the song might be about Travis, I think it is. Fresh Out The Slammer is about her leaving Joe for Matty. Guilty As Sin? Is about her being with Joe but also fantasizing about Matty. It sounds worrying and can sound like cheating but she says “without ever touching his skin, how can I be guilty as sin?” I Can Fix Him (No Really I Can) is 100% about Matty because he’s such a fucked up guy who was showing interest in her then she says “Woah, maybe I can’t” at the end after she realizes he never really loved her. loml is about Joe, she dated him for 6 years and she says “You shit-talked me under the table, talking rings and talking cradles. I wish I could un-recall how we almost had it all” She wanted to marry him but he didn’t want to marry her. I Can Do It With a Broken Heart seems both about Joe and Matty, but mostly about Joe imo. “He said he’d love me all his life” is def for Joe and “I’m so obsessed with him but he avoids me” Could be for Joe since he stopped really showing her love but also Matty ghosted her. The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived is Matty 100000% Again, he ghosted her he really fucked her up. His response to the album was “we were never that serious” 🙄. The Alchemy is about Travis Kelce of course we love him 🫶🏻
People who complain about the "childish" lyrics in So High School are completely missing the point! It's a high school child like feeling so of course the lyrics match
Wes, YOU said you thought some of the tracks were similar to songs on other albums.Would you "care to put your money where your mouth is" and say which songs and which they are similar to and WHY? I am not suggesting that you are wrong, but that it would be very instructive to get your opinion - and even helpful to Talylor should she read this
OK I glanced at the comments and no 1 else seems to be mentioning it so you had some confusion about Charlie puth lyrics And it's something that only long time fans will figure out,Cause you have to realize that person shes singing to,it's during the 1st time they met which was in 2014 when Charlie Puth was not a big artist yet
Tbh I don’t think Taylor was trying to make the perfect album with one, this was her trying to let her get shit off her chest and try to close the wounds within her… wasn’t meant to be commercially successful
When you're the biggest artist on the planet and have been consistantly for over 15yrs, you don't change shit!!! Why would you. Literally is "The Music Industry", no one even comes close, on top of that she's the 5th most powerful woman on earth. Yeah...... she needs to change it up.

First listen it definitely turned into white noise.
I had to sit down and actually listen.
It definitely blurred together in the first listen, I think it was just too many songs at once
This was me too. After about the 4th listen I just became more obsessed each time and could fully appreciate each song better. @ladychelseatheundead
The first two months I felt like all the songs were the same and I’m a fan
plssss do the anthology as well. i loved both albums but the anthology is 100% superior
Only 30 years old understand how relatable the “all my friends smells like weed or little babies “
Pretty sure the parents of 30yo also understand the reference lol
People complain it's too long. No one is making anyone listen to the whole thing at once. Listen to your faves and let it be.
This album gets better with every listen. From start to finish, all 31 songs
Down Bad uses an alien abduction as a metaphor of how he made her fall in love and then left. Hence the spaceship sounds during the track 👽
i think ttpd is her best album i cant stop listening to it
It's all the narcotics 😆
SAMEEE
Factssss
This is the album with the most iconic bridges. Can't stop listening.
Same I’m way more obsessed with ttpd than midnights! It’s everything to me
I think that you (along with 90% of the rest of the world’s population) are taking Taylor’s lyrics too literally.
I agree with everything you said.
Long wait is over, thank you! Waiting for the Anthology 😜
It's the best half of the album for me. It's taken tied #1 alongside Evermore as my favourite TS projects 🥰
It took me about a week to be able to listen to ut without crying. The album detroyed me but healed me too. I love the album its ruining my life.
Another name goes up in lights
Like diamonds in the sky
And they'll tell you now, you're the lucky one
It is her sad songs that make me stay a fan of her's lolm is a masterpiece to me...but I think knowing the back story helps understand, but the lyricism is poetry.
Amen...one of her most beautiful and sad songs she has ever written
Agreed.
The delay between the baby line in But daddy I love him and him understanding it killed me
i understand maybe you don't like sad songs... but honestly i can tell apart taylor's sad songs because i love them they are my favourites honestly and i hope she never stops doing them
The comments you said at the end of lomI, think you are just saying what most of the "haters" of this album said (and actually you talked about it at the beginning): "it´s more of the same" "they sound like songs she already has done" "they're repetitive" ... and it is because most of her songs are connected, once you get the context, that is gonna change... and i'm sure this album will also grow up in you as it did with many of us.
You are spot on. Good job!
The golden retriever thing is just saying they want someone loyal and gets super happy when they're around you
Goldens are the most NOT toxic dog there is on the planet. They are loyal and loving.
if taylor stop making song like loml, i'll never listen to her ever again. its her best type of work. like cold as you in debut album, white horse in fearless, last kiss in speak now, sad beautiful tragic in red, you are in love in 1989, new years day in reputation, soon you'll get better in lover, all of folklore really, champagne problem plus evermore in evermore, youre losing me, and all of the anthology. thats the soul of taylor.
This is actually a Jack and Aaron produced album :)
Hahah
People nowadays literally take everything literally.
You are one smart person you should be doing Taylor Swift's reactions
It was a "we are heading for a breakup unless you pull yourself out of your depression because I can't stay with you in your sadness anymore" song 😭
They mutually ended the relationship and made the final decision when she was on the Florida stop on the Eras tour.
But I 10000% agree with your ratty Matty explanation... You were just FAR too nice about the bigoted skeezeball 😅
@@emmavink they were on and off again quite a few times
“Everything comes out teenage petulance” is the key line to that song. It paints the mental picture perfectly and adds some humor to it. Great song.
It’s definitely a grower. The thing is most people listen to music once and they based their first impression whether they like it or not. Also, it is difficult to let people try listening to the same music more than once especially if the artist and the genre is not their cup of tea.
40:55 exactly my thoughts
i think guilty as sin goes deeper than a religious allegory; it's moreso about emotional cheating and the religious implications of feeling sinful in that way
at the core of WAOLOM, she addresses and mocks all the rumors that surround her professional and personal life. every single conversation online HAS to revolve around taylor and most of the time it is haters bringing it up.
Yo.... don't use acronyms for song names for a first time reaction 😂
Honestly, I appreciate the timing of this reaction. I had ran out of reactions to watch 😂
Golden Retriever - kind and loyal. always has your back. loves you in spite of your faults. there through thick and thin
You have to take in context with this album this was wrote in a period of two years .some things have changed.
She may have written the line about Charlie Puth a couple of years ago - she's been working on the album a long time.
Um...she and Matty said Charlie Puth should be a bigger artist a couple years ago???? 🧐
40:40 And my friend smells like a little baby, which means that all her friends have babies.
Thank you for your reactions, bro. I love it!
'my friends all smell like weed or little babies.' women of her age are either still single and partying or they're nesting and have babies. very relatable lyric.
Midnights is my fave too! I just got the Love Potion Special Edition album…it’s so pretty!
folklore is also my #2.
bestie youd love 1989 if you like i can do it with a broken heart that album is a pop BIBLE with hit after hit
Omg finally!! cannot wait for anthology
Smallest Man is about Matty Healy, who was known to have addiction issues.
We can clearly distinguish Each and every Song of her's 🤷🏻♂️
Dylan Thomas, great Welsh poet of early 20th century; Patti Smith, great singer/songwriter/poet of mid-20th century; Chelsea Hotel in NYC which has housed nearly every great writer/musician since Mark Twain and Thomas and Smith and Bob Dylan, Mick Jagger, etc., etc.
Metaphors, but look it up. It's the asshole from the 1975, Matty Healy. The Alchemy is about Travis
Dude, FINALLY!!! 😂
Ikr! Srry it took so long
My friends all smell like weed or little babies, I think it means that she’s at the age where she has some friends who are still partying and smoking and some are becoming parents and getting married
Red (Taylor's Version) is my favorite Taylor Swift album, maybe you can react to it.
Im not sure if you've done Reputation yet. It's actually my favorite album so I'd love to see you do Reputation😊
Pretty sure he has... Also... It's really easy to just look at his page first...
Amazing reaction ❤ album of the year for me!
I like the way Taylor breaks the fourth wall on this album, like “no im not”, “who uses the typewriters anyway”
She does it on every album at least once 😂🤷
I love how you sing along with the lyrics ❤️
So Long London, LOML and I Can Do It With A Broken Heart refers to JOE ALWYN, British Actor, her boyfriend of 6 years (2017 to 2023) She obviously wanted to marry him. JOE ALWYN was the SLAMMER relationship. the song LOVER was written for him.
Matty Healy inspired Fortnight, Down Bad, But Daddy I Love Him, Smallest Man Who Ever Lived, I Can Fix Him, Fresh Out the Slammer
The Alchemy and So High School (the anthology) - Travis Kelce
I've been doing A LOT of lyric analysis in the past 2 months 😅
I hope these arguments make sense to you.
She's the nerdy girl on the bleachers studying philosophy and English Lit 😊
In the Alchemy, she says "these chemicals hit me like white wine" and in But Daddy I Love Him, she says, "and counteract the chemistry, and undo the destiny". So dual specific references to chemistry.
So yes. I would say there is more than enough substantiating lyrical proof connecting Kelce to But Daddy I Love Him 🤷♀️
Her ex of 6 years is form somewhere south of London.
In "Who's Afraid of Little Old Me," she literally says it's the circus life that made her this way and then she's getting backlash for anything she does. She is what she is because "we" trained her.
It’s the meaning of each song .. we all can relate to what she’s saying .
Never overhype people like what we like so I guess is more the supporters than the hatters that’s all
Ironic that a guy who doesn’t understand the golden retriever fascination is the only commentator I’ve seen to actually understand that lyric lol. Golden retriever guys are usually fun and happy go lucky. Taylor is saying she wants someone like that, but with Tattoos.
Woah, I just stumbled upon this and realized you JUST posted this like 5 min ago. I guess I'm not going to sleep yet lol
That’s the dedication I love right there!
Weed or little babies -> that point in your life where all your peers are either married and having babies or still partying and not interested in settling down, but you don’t belong in either group
He didnt even pay attention 😩😩😩
I love Midnights, but I like TTPD better. I have barely listened to anything else, and I mean out of all music, not just TS's stuff, since the album dropped 2 months ago. It's just so good, for me. I know music is subjective.
It's a 2 week relationship.
Taylor Swift is talking about Joe Allen and down bad
To anyone who thinks all the tracks sound the same: A challenge.
Take any 2 random songs from the album and compare them. Repeat until you find 2 which you find sound the same. Then come here and tell us which they were.
been waiting for it!!
The Alchemy is about Travis Kelce of course we love him 🫶🏻
As we Swifties have said…this song is a grower not a show-er. And you can only know that if you know the lore of Taylor 🫶👍❤️
People who complain about the "childish" lyrics in So High School are completely missing the point! It's a high school child like feeling so of course the lyrics match
it’s her best album imo
Maybe shes referring to a convo she had when Charlie wasnt as big
Wes, YOU said you thought some of the tracks were similar to songs on other albums.Would you "care to put your money where your mouth is" and say which songs and which they are similar to and WHY? I am not suggesting that you are wrong, but that it would be very instructive to get your opinion - and even helpful to Talylor should she read this
Charlie puth gained a lot of traction after this album was released
Prior to the release, his viewership and numbers and fanbase was much smaller
Its not bad even the slightest. People just hate her coz apparently releases too much music. Ya hate her for doing her job i guess
Obviously the album is great! People Love it!!
Song writing is awesome! It’s her Best!
Golden Retriever - loyal and loving
cinephile from Cinema = lover of movies
Tbh I don’t think Taylor was trying to make the perfect album with one, this was her trying to let her get shit off her chest and try to close the wounds within her… wasn’t meant to be commercially successful
When you're the biggest artist on the planet and have been consistantly for over 15yrs, you don't change shit!!!
Why would you.
Literally is "The Music Industry", no one even comes close, on top of that she's the 5th most powerful woman on earth.
Yeah...... she needs to change it up.
Yes, when you're in your mid-thirties, your friends all smell like weed or they are having babies. haha

She’s in certain parts of the video! She’s in the camera a lot at the end
