    I think the PD400X is more "professional", therefore it has more custom settings&analogue EQ adjustment button. PD200X is targeting for more common people such as streamers, players and podcasters. Both of them are very good mic and budget friendly though.

      There are a few things you can try. You can "boost the air" to try to get a brighter sound in your voice, which is basically just boosting the higher frequencies. You can also try a little bit of compression to help even out the volume of your voice

    I want to buy 200x but at 100% gain its scaring me. Then both 400 and 200 at 100% gain were catching ambience and equipment, magnetic noise almost similar.

    • @techwithtobias
      @techwithtobias  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah it's not really anything to worry about. Turning the gain up to 100% is super unusual and I just did it as a test to kind of give a feel for how the noise floor changes as the gain is turned up. With any mic I've ever tried, if you were to turn the gain up that loud it would definitely sound weird and the results may even vary depending on the audio interface or mixer you are using.

    • @techwithtobias
      @techwithtobias  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Do you mean those XLR to USB cables? I've never personally tried one, but the thing with those is that then you are dependent on the sound card in the cable, which will have a big influence on how the microphone sounds. When you have a USB mic, the sound card is built into the microphone. For example, these two Maono mics in this video have built in sound cards, so the USB cable doesn't determine how they sound. Does that make sense?

    • @Romieeee_

    Hey! Thanks your reviews are always great! So I wanted to ask, which mic should I choose between PM421 and PD200X? My use case is for an interview-type remote podcast over Zoom, and my room isn't well soundproofed like yours. Background noise isn't too much from outside, except for a ceiling fan and A.C. Also, can I plug and play PD200X directly into my PC, just like PM421, without using an audio interface?
    The prices I'm getting in my region are really good - $50 bucks for PB and the same for PM mic as well. I'm aware that overall dynamic mics are better for podcasts than condenser mics, but please help me out!

    • @techwithtobias
      @techwithtobias  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi! Yes for your podcast I think the PD200X would be a solid choice if you are worried about noise in your room. That would probably be the easiest route, but also what helps with condenser mics, like the pm421, is if you are experiencing background noise or if you feel like your room is influencing the sound of your mic, you can always turn down your mic gain and get closer to your mic.
