This is so cool! My Dad bought all of us (3 girls) a bug for our first car. Mine was a bright yellow ‘75 super beetle. I loved it so much that I bought a white diesel beetle in 1998. Sadly the interior has not held up & I’ve been searching for door panels for it.
11:45 is a French Citroën Ami 6, ‘62 of ‘63. They were built in my hometown, in a factory I’ve worked in, 35 years later. Quite common in France, but a rarity in the U.S. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Citroën_Ami
My VW history was a '69 Kharmann Ghia, some year Bug, a (borrowed for 2 years) 73 Rabbit & a '68 Squareback. My favorite was the Squareback that had several different colored fenders which I never changed in all the years I owned it. The car was not running when I bought it so the fuel injection was removed in its entirety. Eventually I redid the motor and used later model dual port heads and a bigger cam that was given me by a friend (no idea the lift and duration now). Another friend made a box with 4 runners and a center divider half way up the box to create turbulence and at first, mounted a vacuum secondary 2 BBL carb off a Vega. Headers and that changed intake added considerable power to the machine even without the cam change. I've owned over 60 cars and except for my '65 Vette, '65 Nova and '82 Silverado; this Squareback might be my favorite.
Some great stuff there! I'd love to have a couple of those rust free cars back out here. That automatic squareback is a 68 or 69, very cool cars and those automatics were near bulletproof! Some early cars too, You should get a few Pete! There's even a 58 - 60 at 9:47 - it's green. And at 11:37 to the left of that white beetle is a Cireoen AMI - uncommon in this country.
I know a guy here in Canada that has 3 late sixties Karmann-Ghia's he just love the things them and those all wheel drive AMC Eagles from the late 70's early 80's

Black vinyl interior (but still had the light blue dash panel), 4-speed, and fuel-injected (& always ran, never a hiccup). Mine was a '68, but haven't seen many feulie '68s so am guessing it was a late year production. Loved that car but I was in Ohio with it - totally rotted out... including all the brake lines and pedal mounts. Inner fenders rotted so front wheels sprayed rain and road dirt into the car. Wish I would have kept it - would have been worth restoring now.
Getting excited about roaming around a junkyard like that is something our wives will never understand. It's akin to a treasure hunt not unlike Oak Island.

My Friend Pete - have you ever purchased a car to restore, enhance, whatever to resell for a profit? VW Bugs I've heard is the best classic cars to restore and sell.
These VWs are in great condition! Everything here in the northeast rusts to shit. There's guys up here that would kill for these cars and parts. It will be a damn shame if it goes to waste.
We had a place here outside the tampa bay area had thousands. Ovals, splits, buses far as you can see. City came in and crushed over 500. The grabbed all they could grab. Not what the owner wanted. He moved across the street and moved quite a few but just not the same. Sad day. He passed a few years ago. It will all be gone soon.

But I wish I could find it.. again. But was in in 96 I believe got stolen.. doverfoxcroft maine where I used to live. Doverfoxcroft police department suck and didn't find it.

I've worked in Houston before. Don't know how any body can stand to live there. I use to live an hour away from Moab Utah. Shure do miss the 4 corners area. Can't blame you for wanting to get away from Houston.

That cheese slicer looking car from 11:40 on is Citroen Ami 6 export model 1963 on, I think. First manufactured from 1961.
That lot has enough parts to build some solid running and driving bugs, nice place!

65 to 66. It has the enclosed headlights but the narrow chrome trim on the side. And the larger door windows. 64 and back had wider side trim.
