That's WONDERFUL that she helped soooooo MANY children, but I ALWAYS think about Frank's first wife, Nancy, who actually got him started in the business. You NEVER hear anything about her!!!! She actually made ALL of the ties he would wear.
You know, I did too. I hadn’t been born yet, in his heyday but remember, as a little girl him appearing on my mom’s “Photoplay” magazine covers! Nancy always appeared to be such a devoted wife & good mother to their children. How amazing that Nancy made all of his ties! I read she was an excellent cook too & used to send jars of her spaghetti sauce over to her ex-husband’s house when she made it, with their children, The “kids” ( all grown up with families of their own by then) would pick up the sauce & other Italian dishes she made, to Frank’s. After he remarried Nancy stopped for new wife(s) grew resentful sending food over but Frank & Nancy had a good relationship until they both passed away. I read she never stopped loving him, too!♥️
Barbara sounds like a great lady, but I agree about Nancy being just as wonderful! She was his first love and first wife. It's a shame fame got to him, which in a way I can understand, but I always think of Nancy as his real genuine love!
According to an autobiography by Tina Sinatra called "My Father's Daughter," Tina said Frank wanted to divorce Barbara, but it would have cost him more than it was worth, especially after the prenuptial agreement was dissolved. Then Frank was thinking of adopting Barbara's child, which set Frank's kids off.
Tina Sinatra came across as a spoiled child of privilege, which she was. Her book was very mean spirited when it came to her step mother and came across very childish. Barbara Sinatra stuck with him for over 20 years, which couldnt have been easy. Barbara showed how classy she was in her book, Lady Blue eyes; by not saying one negative thing about her or any of his children. Tina took every chance she had in her book to make Barbara look bad. Barbara helped countless children and will live on. Tina is a self centered, very selfish woman who has done nothing but ride the coat tails of her father.
Sorry, but while I'm glad she helped abused children, she did so with Frank's money. From what I've heard, she married up, repeatedly, and Frank was not a happy man with her in the end, but appearances are everything in tinsel town. I respect Nancy Sinatra Sr much, much more. She helped many, many charities in her lifetime. She was a true Angel, married Frank young, had 3 children by him and he left her for another woman, Ava. She remained a true friend and confidant to him. I don't think Frank loved her as the most passionate love in his life but I believe he respected her and loved her as the most IMPORTANT, trusted person in his life and turned to her for the remainder of his life for advice. And she was ALWAYS there for him. That, my friends, is true love.

In 1991 I saw Barbara in a concert by her husband. She stood up, she was dressed in bright yellow. She would have taken a lot from Frank especially during his moods.
She took a lot of abuse at first. When Frank became feeble, she could start to enjoy his money more without all his slapping her around and insulting her. After he croaked in 1998, she was finally free. Kudos to Barbara for waiting it out patiently. If ever two people didn't love each other, it was Frank and Barbara, but she certainly had something for him. No, not a great mind.
She was "much more" because she had Sinatra's money to do it with! She wasn't always a nice lady, but her work for the children is certainly appreciated, which she did, of course, with Frank's money! My Mother once went to a funeral for the meanest, ugliest, most terrible old lady in town. Only two or three people showed up, so there was no one willing to speak a few words for the deceased. My Mom was elected. Poor Mom, she really didn't know anything good to say about Hazel. She thought about it for a few minutes, and then said "we will miss Hazel, she had the nicest set of dentures I had ever seen". See, it's not so difficult to find something good to say.
