Dude, thank you so much for simplifying the wiring idea.. I was so apprehensive and scared to even try it but after watching I felt 100% that I (novice) can do it. Almost got the tranny in now and ready to see it rip. I’d imagine we will need to get tuned regardless after it’s all back up n running. Also you have made every step clear as day and given me more confidence
This video series helped me out a lot, Thank you! I have the exact same car going to 5 spd. I tried testing out the sensors with my multimeter before putting them in the car... the starter interlock switch was a clear on and off circuit, while the cruise control switch seamed to do nothing (I tested two)
Amazing job with this series! Thank you. Any idea why I would have a 214 relay in place instead of a 175 relay? Someone else did the swap years ago but the only wiring they did was the VSS - I've had no backups, cruise or clutch switch. Can I use the 214 instead of a 53 in order to wire the rest of the functions up?
No idea on the 214. It would probably work fine but I’m not familiar with a 214. Any relay will work as long as it’s 12 volt and can handle the amperage draw of the starter. You will just have to adapt my wiring diagram to the pin out on what ever relay you use. I think you would spend more time doing that (figuring the pin out in a 214 relay and then adapting the wiring plan) that the $10 a 53 relay would cost but it’s your option
If you are talking about putting an auto in a manual car, I can’t help you. There are more circuits adding a TCU and all the trans sensors plus the circuits to the shifter itself than I would bother trying to map out
Hey have a couple of questions has to how I go about wiring my clutch pedal I’m using a my manual as a donor and I’m using the manual ecu, engine harness and cluster. I bought a golf with an auto with no motor or tranny or ecu or Tom I’m just not sure how I go about wiring my clutch pedal
if you use the engine bay harness out of the manual donor, you won't have to change anything in the engine bay. But the harness in the car (specifically the clutch pedal) will still need alterations as per this video. You will have to sort out where the wiring differences are between the two harnesses. Since the plan in the video is based on having an automatic wiring harness, you won't be able to just follow the video directions since some of the wires used won't exist in the manual harness.you out to be able to just re-pin some of the T10 connectors in the plenum chamber to match the wiring you need.
@ yes I have the white clutch switch and the black switch for my clutch pedal that’s the only thing I’m not understanding is who to wire up the white clutch switch
@@rixhz2676 I would follow the video instruction for inside the car. Then the you put the engine wiring harness in, re-pin the wires you used on the inside of the car to match up to the factory ones in the T-10 plugs in the plenum chamber
I’m assuming you have an 09A auto so then you should watch the 09A tiptronic series instead to see the VSS wiring. th-cam.com/video/ncKRdmGXfsQ/w-d-xo.htmlsi=Vva8a5Cl9LO3PTuk

test them with the locking tabs in the locked position. It is a tricky little switch to test but it needs to 'think' it is installed

For swapping manuel to auto what has to be change on wiring
That’s pretty much the video. I suggest you watch the video
@@hesty32 i meant to do auto swap from manuel car

yes he did thank you, he is doing pretty well now
