I got utterly hypnotized watching that arm swing back & forth ("you are getting sleeepy"). Every time I watch something like this I think of how much time & labour it would take to do it manually. It's amazing that people could design such machines & I imagine it takes a lot of skill & practice to use one! Amazing work!

I think its much deeper than we know..It's the feeling of cleaning/clearing something, the accomplishment, something as simple as cleaning your bedroom, to getting a way overdue haircut..Theres a good feeling that comes from it, and no drug, or sex, or money can give you..This kind of machinery is hyper clean!

Me to but we have a few jerks that no one can make happy leaving stupid comments .either hes to slow or to fast or not 2.million snakes all around him. ..people are covid confused I believe. Everyone has had to be patient for the last yr and now we're coming out of it and want everything done right now and there way. I've just been very content that we've been.able to turn to TH-cam videos like this pass the time and keep us sain through it all. They just need to be thankful we're still here and alive .so many died from.it and don't have the chance to watch anything anymore.

They come along way with this machinery . Back in 1960, my Dad and my younger brother,had to clean up almost a quarter acre of wild blackberries. With Machete and shovels. Dig the roots and stems. It took 5 days and 10 times the blisters. My Old Man showed us a old trick for our blistered hands,Piss on our hands. I thought he was crazy. However it helped. Took care of the pain and helped speed up the blisters,to turn over to calluses. Thanks Pop for your suggestions. If we wouldn't have tooken your advice,I think my acking hands wouldn't have healed over night. RIP OLD TIMER.

That’s a ribbon snake btw. Nothing to worry about he’s non venomous. A water moccasin has a big viper type head kinda dirty black with brown blotches and will usually rear up showing a white mouth that resembles cotton giving the name cotton mouth.
Agreed. Not a moccasin. There's no band over the eye. The pattern isn't right, and the length and girth are off to be moccasin. Also, all snakes need water and the prey that is also attracted to the water. Just bc there's a snake by the water doesn't automatically make it a moccasin.

Every poisonous snakes in America have a diamond/arrow head triangle shaped head.The protruding jaw muscles give them that triangle shaped head. BTW moccasins are only around 3ft long and thick in diameter. Hope this helps. I knew this retired neighbor who sitting outside in a chair mending a net was bitten by a moccasin and soon died. This was well before cell phones.

I could use something like this whare I live here in Pennsylvania. Need to cut all the brier patches off of my hillside going down the road that Midland won't fix the roads and bridges in order to have a much more sasy access to major roads and arteries for police patrol, emergency vehicles such as fire and medicial, etc.
My neighbor in Florida hired a bulldozer to clear a piece of land. Half an hour after he started, the equipment operator was standing on top of the machine kicking snakes off of it. Witnesses said there was probably 20 snakes climbing up it at a time. He ran off and the bulldozer sat for two weeks before they found someone who would go in and get it. Stay safe out there.
Greetings. Unsure if I’ve seen your channel before, but found this today. Wow, talk about an overgrown pond! As someone who is recently healed (mostly) from multiflora rose scratches obtained in a fencerow cleanup, I can’t quite convey how happy I was watching the blackberry briars disappear. Therapeutic! I think you worked that about right - trim the little stuff with this bush hog and hit the bigger stuff with the mulched now that you can see the ground. I envy you working inside the cab and being in the clean zone. All my similar work has been from a tractor seat out in the open. I do back into heavy stuff but in thick stuff I can’t see stumps and such. As for the video, I think you did a good mix of real-time and timelapsed. Too many commenters decided you had too much of one or the other. Your RT video let’s us see the actual process and progress, and the TL video lets us see the scope. If your cab is quiet enough, you could talk to us while you work, or you could edit voiceover later - I find that very effective and educational. Thanks to Dan for defending digit’s work!

@@Nvenus27 Most venomous snakes in the US are vipers as is the cotton mouth water moccasin. Mostly are short and kinda fat, always a diamond shaped head which all the vipers have, like rattle snakes, copperheads, etc. The coral snake is not a viper, has very toxic venom but lacks those fangs of the vipers. The Coral has to "chew" to get his venom in his target. The vipers need one or two quick strikes. Most humans who get bit by a Coral were playing with it when bit. Same as the Gila Monster or Mexican Beaded Lizard. Most bites occur in bar rooms with the poor lizard in a cage and a victim with a high alcohol level. :)

Glad to see this correction. Deadly Snake identification is important. A Water Moccasin has the Diamond shaped head of a Viper and the body gets really fat in the middle and they have an almost solid black appearance. Glad yours was a non venomous guy instead. Keep up the great content!

That's a harmless garter snake! Looks like a fun piece of equipment to operate. When I did my lot I used Kubota M4850 with a brush hog cutter and a stihl chainsaw. It is hard, hot, sweaty and dirty work. There were snakes everywhere, most ground rattlers, copperhead and real water moccasins. Shooting snakes became my hobby.

Using the mini was a wise choice for this job because you set higher which means better visabilaty and you can cut the pond banks without the risk of the machine falling into the water
Wow what a great peice of Machinery you have. Great design and how it has a tilt head makes it way easier to use. have not seen one of that design before and how the strenght of the head can tear down trees as well. Good job .

This is the safest way for me to be out and about! Good job. PS. Just a fun fact all native poisonous snakes except for the corral snake have slitted eyes. However that doesn’t mean that some jackass didn’t turn loose a poisonous non native species.

Could you please explain what slitted eyes mean? The eyeballs themselves or the oblong narrow outline of the eye ? I started to fall asleep. Did he ever s how a snake being lifted up?
Just because that stuff got cut doesn't mean the birds and snakes will leave, they will adapt, like such animals always do when things change and much of that vegitation will regrow quickly as the summer progresses.
@@geraldoreyes6146 I would not say I am destroying this, just because it is getting cut does not, in my opinion, mean it is getting destroyed. This is brush and it will regrow quickly, just like grass in a yard after it gets cut.

Finally, a man running a machine the way I would run it. I have thousands of hours using brush hogs, tractor mounted ditch bank mowers, and backhoes. Some these guys you see have the wrong tool (mulcher when just a rotary mower would be fine) and then do not use what they have efficiently. They must be making money so more power to them.
@@thims1961 I can think of several reasons,mainly development of the property in some fashion. Access,irrigation project,home building,cattle, squaring it off to make agriculture more efficient to work the soil without driving and working around brush where the ground could yield crops instead of worthless brush.
@@thims1961 It will grow back. Also, if left to just grow, the trees will eventually take it over. Doing this every few years keeps the habitat from becoming a woodlot, when it would be much harder to clear out. Also, there are probably a lot of undesirable invasive plants in those weeds - honeysuckle, bittersweet among other. Plus, even though native, blackberry cane thickets are just nasty. No human access thru them unless wearing a suit of armor. I have fields like this on my property. I just have a tractor with a brush mower on back. I'd love to have one of these machines. Once you mow all this, when it comes back, it isn't as full of the undesirable stuff - like blackberries. But they will come back too.

I live in West Texas and on the ranch we could use that on the prickly pear cactus, thorns, even the mesquite trees branches. That cactus you gamble with the chance of rattle snakes every time we try to clear out any large cactus patch.
Yeah we have rattlesnakes here too, Timber rattlers mostly but the occasional eastern diamondback as well if I remember correctly. I don't mind snakes, even moccasins or copperheads but I will kill rattlesnakes if I see them for sure! Thank you for watching and commenting!
That was either a rat snake or a brown water snake a water moccasin that long would have a head as big as your fist and bigger than your forearm but that is definitely the type places they like...good job on the pond..looks great !

@@idigit4967 , If the snake was swallowing a frog, that was definitely a Water moccasin, they love frogs. BTW, water Moccasin and Cottonmouth are one and the same, depends on what part of the country they are.
The thin body, the stripes and the small head tell us it is a harmless garter snake and yes, they hang out around ponds. A moccasin would be shorter and a lot fatter with a pit vipers head. Always remember that the snake one kills, may be a predator on young moccasins.
Agreed - people shouldn't indiscriminately kill snakes as they can be quite beneficial. It doesn't take that much to get familiar with the venomous ones in your area and only target those.
I'm no snake expert, the markings on the back reminded me of a moccasin but I really don't know. But I try to leave the snakes alone, they don't really bother me, except rattlesnakes. Those things are too dangerous on my job sites to leave roaming around. I have never seen one thankfully but if I did I would probably kill it but the moccasins and copperheads I leave alone if I can. You're right they eat all the bad stuff like rodents and pests.
Was not a garter snake, he's to long for one. Considering his size and pattern, he's either a banded water snake or a diamond back water snake. Check out Mississippi Snake forums or your local snake forum for precise identification.

Yes that beautiful Amazon River is all growed up around it by the Pesky Rain Forest. Fortunately people are burning it down so as to plow up the land for farming. Of course the people that need the food won't get it because the absence of the forest is now causing world wide drought. Luckily the plight of famine will end with world radiation from nuclear fission.

Across the street, from my house growing up in Florida, there was a large drainage ditch that ran the length of the neighborhood. It was overgrown for years. My neighbor that lived next to it said he always saw snakes, venomous and non-venomous. One day the county came out to clear the whole ditch from one end to the other 1500ft x 8ft deep or so. He said his snake kill count was up to 23 and counting after day 2. Mostly moccasins. We had rattlesnakes, moccasins, coral, racers, you name it. You should definitely google the snake types for your region. Comes in handy. If that 3ft snake was a moccasin and you were that close he would be chasing you. They are very aggressive.
we have a lake with a few moccasins. got chased by one and shot it. apparently there was a bed of them across the lake (it’s a big space) from where we were and the snake came after us cause we were across the lake. seen some in the creeks too and they’ll chase and hiss the whole time. i don’t care that most snakes are chill, moccasins wake up and choose violence every day. You obviously haven’t had an encounter with a moccasin if you think otherwise 😅

I am not a person who knows anything about this sort of work. But this first piece of equipment you are using to take down those smaller trees and such, holy cool!! I have never seen one of those before.
This is great - a much more cost-effective alternative to a full mulcher like a Fecon. I have about 7 acres of 8-ft tall blackberries thicket to clear, to replant a forest - plus some uneven terrain and 1500 ft of creek. This seems ideal.
@@sCarrieCemetery They are not native, invasives in my region, and I am trying to restore to a native forest along a creek. Douglas fir and cedar, some maple. A previous owner maybe starting 100 years ago appears to have cleared it for oat fields - and now it has maybe 50 years of blackberry overgrowth.
Yeah a Fecon or really any drum mulcher would be a bit overkill for briars. A rotary head would definitely be ideal and if you got one about 42 or 50" wide it would be more efficient as well, most drum mulchers for this size machine are only about 26-36" wide. Thank you for watching and commenting!

They come along way with this machinery . Back in 1960, my Dad and my younger brother,had to clean up almost a quarter acre of wild blackberries. With Machete and shovels. Dig the roots and stems. It took 5 days and 10 times the blisters. My Old Man showed us a old trick for our blistered hands,Piss on our hands. I thought he was crazy. However it helped. Took care of the pain and helped speed up the blisters,to turn over to calluses. Thanks Pop for your suggestions. If we wouldn't have tooken your advice,I think my acking hands wouldn't have healed over night. RIP OLD TIMER.

That’s a ribbon snake btw. Nothing to worry about he’s non venomous. A water moccasin has a big viper type head kinda dirty black with brown blotches and will usually rear up showing a white mouth that resembles cotton giving the name cotton mouth.
Agreed. Not a moccasin. There's no band over the eye. The pattern isn't right, and the length and girth are off to be moccasin. Also, all snakes need water and the prey that is also attracted to the water. Just bc there's a snake by the water doesn't automatically make it a moccasin.

Every poisonous snakes in America have a diamond/arrow head triangle shaped head.The protruding jaw muscles give them that triangle shaped head. BTW moccasins are only around 3ft long and thick in diameter. Hope this helps. I knew this retired neighbor who sitting outside in a chair mending a net was bitten by a moccasin and soon died. This was well before cell phones.
@Leon Thompson. Not true. There are several venomous snakes that don't have that shaped head. The coral snake is an example and they're VERY venomous.

Need to cut all the brier patches off of my hillside going down the road that Midland won't fix the roads and bridges in order to have a much more sasy access to major roads and arteries for police patrol, emergency vehicles such as fire and medicial, etc.

My neighbor in Florida hired a bulldozer to clear a piece of land. Half an hour after he started, the equipment operator was standing on top of the machine kicking snakes off of it. Witnesses said there was probably 20 snakes climbing up it at a time. He ran off and the bulldozer sat for two weeks before they found someone who would go in and get it. Stay safe out there.

Greetings. Unsure if I’ve seen your channel before, but found this today. Wow, talk about an overgrown pond! As someone who is recently healed (mostly) from multiflora rose scratches obtained in a fencerow cleanup, I can’t quite convey how happy I was watching the blackberry briars disappear. Therapeutic! I think you worked that about right - trim the little stuff with this bush hog and hit the bigger stuff with the mulched now that you can see the ground. I envy you working inside the cab and being in the clean zone. All my similar work has been from a tractor seat out in the open. I do back into heavy stuff but in thick stuff I can’t see stumps and such.
As for the video, I think you did a good mix of real-time and timelapsed. Too many commenters decided you had too much of one or the other. Your RT video let’s us see the actual process and progress, and the TL video lets us see the scope. If your cab is quiet enough, you could talk to us while you work, or you could edit voiceover later - I find that very effective and educational.

Yes definitely NOT a venomous species.
@@Nvenus27 Most venomous snakes in the US are vipers as is the cotton mouth water moccasin. Mostly are short and kinda fat, always a diamond shaped head which all the vipers have, like rattle snakes, copperheads, etc. The coral snake is not a viper, has very toxic venom but lacks those fangs of the vipers. The Coral has to "chew" to get his venom in his target. The vipers need one or two quick strikes. Most humans who get bit by a Coral were playing with it when bit. Same as the Gila Monster or Mexican Beaded Lizard. Most bites occur in bar rooms with the poor lizard in a cage and a victim with a high alcohol level. :)

Glad to see this correction. Deadly Snake identification is important. A Water Moccasin has the Diamond shaped head of a Viper and the body gets really fat in the middle and they have an almost solid black appearance. Glad yours was a non venomous guy instead. Keep up the great content!

That's a harmless garter snake! Looks like a fun piece of equipment to operate. When I did my lot I used Kubota M4850 with a brush hog cutter and a stihl chainsaw. It is hard, hot, sweaty and dirty work. There were snakes everywhere, most ground rattlers, copperhead and real water moccasins. Shooting snakes became my hobby.
Not sure why but watching the bush hog work was oddly satisfying.

Blackberry bushes draw birds and then the birds draw snakes. The pond draws tadpoles and toads and frogs. Everyone gets to eat.
Now there will be no birds and no snakes
Just because that stuff got cut doesn't mean the birds and snakes will leave, they will adapt, like such animals always do when things change and much of that vegitation will regrow quickly as the summer progresses.
And the birds need insets to be able to survive. We are always destroying everything.

Finally, a man running a machine the way I would run it. I have thousands of hours using brush hogs, tractor mounted ditch bank mowers, and backhoes.
Some these guys you see have the wrong tool (mulcher when just a rotary mower would be fine) and then do not use what they have efficiently. They must be making money so more power to them.

Access,irrigation project,home building,cattle, squaring it off to make agriculture more efficient to work the soil without driving and working around brush where the ground could yield crops instead of worthless brush.

Also, there are probably a lot of undesirable invasive plants in those weeds - honeysuckle, bittersweet among other. Plus, even though native, blackberry cane thickets are just nasty. No human access thru them unless wearing a suit of armor.
I have fields like this on my property. I just have a tractor with a brush mower on back. I'd love to have one of these machines.
Once you mow all this, when it comes back, it isn't as full of the undesirable stuff - like blackberries. But they will come back too.

I live in West Texas and on the ranch we could use that on the prickly pear cactus, thorns, even the mesquite trees branches. That cactus you gamble with the chance of rattle snakes every time we try to clear out any large cactus patch.

The thin body, the stripes and the small head tell us it is a harmless garter snake and yes, they hang out around ponds. A moccasin would be shorter and a lot fatter with a pit vipers head. Always remember that the snake one kills, may be a predator on young moccasins.
Agreed - people shouldn't indiscriminately kill snakes as they can be quite beneficial. It doesn't take that much to get familiar with the venomous ones in your area and only target those.
And, where there's snakes, there's rodents. So, now, there's just gonna be rodents. Lots and lots of rodents.

I'm no snake expert, the markings on the back reminded me of a moccasin but I really don't know. But I try to leave the snakes alone, they don't really bother me, except rattlesnakes. Those things are too dangerous on my job sites to leave roaming around. I have never seen one thankfully but if I did I would probably kill it but the moccasins and copperheads I leave alone if I can. You're right they eat all the bad stuff like rodents and pests.

Was not a garter snake, he's to long for one. Considering his size and pattern, he's either a banded water snake or a diamond back water snake. Check out Mississippi Snake forums or your local snake forum for precise identification.

Across the street, from my house growing up in Florida, there was a large drainage ditch that ran the length of the neighborhood. It was overgrown for years. My neighbor that lived next to it said he always saw snakes, venomous and non-venomous. One day the county came out to clear the whole ditch from one end to the other 1500ft x 8ft deep or so. He said his snake kill count was up to 23 and counting after day 2. Mostly moccasins. We had rattlesnakes, moccasins, coral, racers, you name it. You should definitely google the snake types for your region. Comes in handy. If that 3ft snake was a moccasin and you were that close he would be chasing you. They are very aggressive.
Water Moccasins will not chase you .most snakes just wanna be left alone..

we have a lake with a few moccasins. got chased by one and shot it. apparently there was a bed of them across the lake (it’s a big space) from where we were and the snake came after us cause we were across the lake. seen some in the creeks too and they’ll chase and hiss the whole time. i don’t care that most snakes are chill, moccasins wake up and choose violence every day. You obviously haven’t had an encounter with a moccasin if you think otherwise 😅

I am not a person who knows anything about this sort of work. But this first piece of equipment you are using to take down those smaller trees and such, holy cool!! I have never seen one of those before.
This is great - a much more cost-effective alternative to a full mulcher like a Fecon. I have about 7 acres of 8-ft tall blackberries thicket to clear, to replant a forest - plus some uneven terrain and 1500 ft of creek. This seems ideal.
Pardon my ignorance.. But why clear the blackberry bushes? 😕 Are they harmful to other vegetation or something else or just annoying?
@@sCarrieCemetery They are not native, invasives in my region, and I am trying to restore to a native forest along a creek. Douglas fir and cedar, some maple. A previous owner maybe starting 100 years ago appears to have cleared it for oat fields - and now it has maybe 50 years of blackberry overgrowth.
Yeah a Fecon or really any drum mulcher would be a bit overkill for briars. A rotary head would definitely be ideal and if you got one about 42 or 50" wide it would be more efficient as well, most drum mulchers for this size machine are only about 26-36" wide. Thank you for watching and commenting!
