I had the honor back in 2010 of replacing the input jack on Trigger. Willie was playing Ravinia in northern suburbs of Chicago.I was working for Third Coast Guitar Service and they called for a guitar tech that day. I made a house call to Ravinia concert venue and met Willie's manager and handler of Trigger,Poodie. After replacing the input jack I strung it back up and got to play it. Iconic would be the word to describe Trigger
Doc ! I can't thank you enough for this piece of genuine American History ! Not only a player but a Guitar Technician as well. I have known the story of Willie and Trigger. I am currently working on a Classical Guitar project that her name will be Silveria. I received this Guitar a number of a from a Vietnam Veteran. She is not nearly distressed as Trigger however, I love the sound of a Classical, this one is mine. May the legacy of Willie and Trigger live on ! Thank you Sir !
I love this guy what a story teller what a voice, your knowledge of music is outstanding, I bow my head to you for giving me so much, thank you keep going love ❤
I already knew a fair amount about Willie and Trigger, but when I saw RD do a video on the subject, I knew I'd learn something new and have a good time doing it. Excellent video and thank you!
Good video. I came across your channel and have been chain watching since. You have a good voice and straight to the point. No bullshit or filler. Cheers!
Hey that was a real good video about the Redheaded Stranger and Trigger. I wish I had kept my guitars, but I always bought em played em for a while and then traded for something else or sold em. I agree about RS being the turning point in his career although Shotgun Willie set the stage. Redheaded Stranger is very sought after today on vinyl and can be pricey for good ones. Was lucky enough to find a fine copy at a thrift shop for $1, now that's my kinda price. I'm glad Willie is still with us
That was a wonderful story about Willy's guitar Trigger , but River Docks , that colorfully embroidered strap that's wrapped underneath trigger and hooks to the bottom of the soundhole (that's crazy) , has always been there too . I've never seen one like it anywhere . Is there a story on it ? Thanks .
Back circa 1967, my sister and brother-in-law went to see Willie Nelson at the Navasota VFW Hall. She said that during one of the intermissions Willie made his way over to their table and sat and talked with them for a bit. Years later, my sister, who is a real estate agent in Texas, sold Claude Grays land for him. R. I. P. Claude🇨🇱Gray Bobbie 🎹 Nelson Paul🥁 English Jody 🎸 Payne Bee🎸Spears
inanimate objects have feelings too...i know that even though i got my other guitars dressed and fixed up, they get jealous knowin im playin this new one all the time.
My family name is Russell, and my uncle in his infinite wisdom named his firstborn son "Leon". The boy grew into a man who looks more like a mini Edward Van Halen is he smiles just right. Funny how the world is.
Another good'un RD! I had not heard any of Willie's early history in Nashville. Stewart-McDonald sells luthier tools and guitar/amp kits. They also employ Master luthier Dan Earlewine, Mark's brother. There is a series of videos on StewMac's YT channel documenting the Earlewine brothers' repair work on Trigger. Worth a look for anyone interested!
I've seen pictures of him playing a Strat and a Gretch hollow body electric. I'm sure he has another Martin classical or two as backups also. About all I know on that subject. Maybe somebody else will chime in.
I hate thinking about when the time comes for either (inevitable I know),my hope is for Trigger to wind up in The Smithsonian Institute. I'm open for any better suggestions...
@@travissmith9451 He has, what, 8 kids? And two have passed. I guess really it depends on who Willie wants to have it. My dad was a musician, and although he wasn't famous I would hate to think I didn't get to keep them in the family. I could only assume that at least one of his kids would feel the same.
@@nitefly599 keeping Trigger in the family is a natural thought but given the importance of Willie and Trigger, I'd like for future generations to see the instrument that was fundamental in creating all of Willie's art. Let's face it, ol' Trigger's playing days are over when Willie goes (hopefully way down the road). Hell, maybe Trigger and Willie will be put to rest together - a thought that never occurred to me until this discussion with you. Thank You!
@@travissmith9451 This conversation really made me search around and see if Willie has made any comments on what will happen with Trigger. So far, I haven't been able to find anything from the man himself.
I saw Willie play in Oklahoma City back in 2001...he would point out to individual women and wink and smile during the show and they would melt!
I was once fortune enough for the chore to fall to me tune Trigger. I have a couple treasured photographs of that fleeting moment.
excellent
Awesome!!!
stop it, donnie!🤘that's wicked bra.
WHAT a wonderful story of a man and his guitar
Thank you!
THANK YOU WILLIE for all that you've done with writing, people and your music (and thank's to Trigger). Your still a good man.

Poodie Locke was a one of a kind for sure. I've met him quite a few times. Did he tell ya any good stories? lol. Thanks for your comment.
An American Icon.

Personally I would like to see it loaned or donated to Marty Stuart’s Country Music Museum when Willie passes through the pearly gates.

I hope it goes to Lukas Nelson, since it’s a family heirloom and all…

This guitar is definitely going into the Smithsonian.
Love Willie but why is using a classical guitar to play country music ? An acoustic has a pick guard and would not have holes in it.Just sayin.
Why would it? With his amount of pot smoking he might outlive Keith Richards
Duh. Trigger will be buried in a grave and Willie will be put on display at the Smithsonian.
lol
Well, when Trigger dies, Willie will be put on display in a Hard Rock Cafe somewhere.
