A tale of stepping toward your future and already missing your home where you grew up. Knowing your past will always be a part of you, even if you never return.

Another great original song! This is such a beautiful heartfelt melancholy song. Tim's lead was awesome along with all the guy's harmonies & Adam's harmonica sounds were great as usual. I don't mind having an instrument played once in awhile in a song. It was tastefully done in the background without taking over. It added a nice element. Also like the scenery in Colorado. I can't understand why some commenters have been really negative about the lyrics. They are truthful in saying that some of the south's past may not be pleasant but not all of it is. Our background & upbringing still makes us the person we are.

That was filmed in Littleton Colorado on December 3, 2022 right before their concert in Denver

Thank you Brad....I took the song the same way you did. Not necessarily just anyone from the South. For anyone anywhere to change their life and move forward and not forget your past.

Another great original featuring Chris Chatham on guitar. Love this song. Adam kills the harmonica all the guys do a great job.❤️

This entire album features each of their voices in such a beautifully balanced light. Tim's voice in So Long Dixie seems smoother, almost apologetic in feeling. It is both heart-warming and heart-breaking, and absolutely perfect!

This was filmed in Colorado Denver from what I heard. This is an amazing original song by Tim, Austin, Adam Wakefield (from Texas Hill) and Chris Chatham the guitarist. Truly enjoyed watching your reaction to this song.

A song so wonderful. A masterpiece. . The harmony is just always perfect at Home Free. A good choice to do it with a guitar this time because that's just part of it. Then Adam's no-monica which can be heard at exactly the right moments. Not too overwhelming. Yes, as I often say: Home Free is not only hearing the music, but also feeling it.

They just get better & better! This is now my new favorite song!

This is beautifully bittersweet. It heals an American hurt that’s difficult to express. The lyrics - they’re an intimate, personal expression of a single soul. There’s just something about these men and their music that touches the spirit.
Home Free, somehow, has the ability to break the rules. They can add an instrument and still feel a capella. Chris Chatham on guitar was just the right bit to add. His playing was just enough to augment, but not too much to distract.
    Damn, these men are good.

Beautiful song, beautiful video and beautiful comments Brad. Yes, we all move on and are wistful at times. Tim, Austin and Chris (Tim’s friend on guitar) wrote this with Adam Wakefield of Texas Hill. I think this should be on the radio. Almost all their songs on this album are originals. Good one Brad!!! 🥰

    I absolutely love this song!
That having been said, it makes me a little sad, because I hope it doesn't mean they won't be singing any more Country....just once in a while. Their voices are so suited for it. I am a Home Fry for Life, either way; where they go, I go.

I don’t think it means that. I think it means they had to leave their homes to pursue more music. Tim and Austin are in Nashville now which is the country capital isn’t it? Chance (who was raised in Alabama) moved to LA. I think it means they had to leave their hometowns. At least that’s what I think it means.

It''s a beautiful song and as a Southerner myself I understand the lyrics.....I was raised with all the rights, and wrongs that are attached to being a Southerner, and like Home Free I had to eventually say goodbye to all that negativity and become a new person. I grew up with the subtle and not so subtle racism (my Dad would say the N-Word 100 times a day, and my mom till that day she passed in 2011 called African-American folks "Colored" people) and the zalous Southern Baptist evangelism that rejects any other faith (and there was plenty of racism I experienced in my lily white Flagler Street Baptist church a member of the Southern Baptist Convention) growing up, but as a teen and I had gone to school with African-American folks & Hispanic -American folks, and I rejected that part of my life, and I started distancing myself from my parents because I didn't feel comfortable in the home I had grown up in anymore. Once I married, I only saw my parents on holidays and a few other days of the year, even though we only lived a few miles apart. Ssaying "So Long" to Dixie is something I've done myself, even though I still live in Miami and have all my life. It's a mindset, and I'm glad Home Free feels the same way. It's why I love this group so much.

@💐꧁ 𝑺𝒎𝒖𝒅𝒈𝒚 𝑫𝒖𝒅𝒅𝒔 𝑫𝒆𝒃𝒃𝒆 ꧂💐 I'm with you. I'm not from the south so I can't say how others perceive this but I took it like Brad and other reactors have said, it's moving on from anything. If I moved from where I am now (almost 55 years here) I would feel like this. Take what I've learned from here and move on to other things
