    Dear khai, whatever you saw, ate and told in Indonesia please take it as a pinch of salt. Here are the list of food Not from indonesia but you thought they were.
    1. Popiah springroll (you mentioned lumpiah)
    2. Nasi goreng or fried rice
    3. Martabak manis (apam balik)
    4. Bakso (meat in soup noodles)
    You wonder why we have it here right? Because it is chinese food from my ancestor in China. That is why malaysia never claimed it is ours. Roti canai is ours because it is different from roti paratha of india. We just laugh off when our neighbour claimed it is their food (those listed). Also they claimed nasi lemak is theirs because they have nasi uduk (totally different dish).
    This is my 2 cents worth.

    • @akianhensen156
      @akianhensen156 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's very embarrassing that you said you don't claim it, but you said that roti canai is yours. Roti canai comes from South India and North India, especially from the city of Chennai in the State of Tamil Nadu. This bread was then brought by Indian migrants to several countries in Southeast Asia

    • @akianhensen156
      @akianhensen156 ปีที่แล้ว

      Where is the proof that we claimed that Nasi Lemak was ours?you guys are the ones who like to claim things like rendang, which comes from West Sumatra, and batik, which comes from Java.

    • @akianhensen156
      @akianhensen156 ปีที่แล้ว

      Have you ever heard the song 'rasa sayange', it is the Indonesian national song that you guys claim is yours😂

    As a Penangite, I knew that char kuey teow(CKT) wouldn't be the best the moment i saw he put in pre cooked noodles. The top 3 CKT in penang, Siam road ckt, Ah Leng ckt, Tiger ckt. There are many more, it's trial and error til you find your favourite.
    Edit: 12:56 Indians in Malaysia are mostly Tamils whose ancestors are from Tamilnadu, not north Indians. The ones you bought the sweets from are from India, not locals Indians. Maybe they're new here hence not speaking Malay.

    Great coverage! Tip: 3 major cultural cuisines would be complemented well with key phrases in those 3 languages, to get the extra mile when being served. You might just earn brownie tidbits, if not a complimentary meal!

    Asam Laksa is an iconic dish in Penang. As you noticed, Georgetown offers vast variety of dishes but its also caters for tourists. Next time do some research which are the good stalls to visit and also pick out dishes that is synonymous with the area. I recommend Chendol, Pohpiah, Har mee, wantan mee

      For me, asam laksa place is ayer itam market. Near kek lok si. I am not sure about those street vendors run by foreign workers which I saw on video. Those are not Malaysians eg fruit stall, asam laksa, char kway teow. They are myanmarese, indonesian and Bangladeshis. The facial features and when they speak up.

    That kwayteow uncle's cooking style hitting the wok sounds like a Chinese lion dance..😁..
    Btw, starfruit aka carambola doesn't have much flavour but it's nutritious.. Most of the stall assistants are migrant workers from Indon, India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Myanmar, Nepal and Philippines.. always mistakenly thought as Malaysians.. most of them can't understand or speak Malay or English language..

  • @LanzFranchess

    tourists often mistaken with this... Malay ia our ethnic name... and malaysians is our nationality including all other races such as Chinese, Indian, orang asli, native etc... to be more precise:
    Malay Malaysians
    Chinese Malaysians
    Indian Malaysians
    Malay Singaporeans
    Chinese Singaporeans
    Indian Singaporeans
    Got it? probably not....

    You had assam (not curry) laksa, and it's the tamarind (not pineapple pieces) that gives it the sourness. The pineapple pieces ought to be sweet.
