I, too, have landed on the Glynn Johns technique, and I've been really happy with it. I love the sound of the drums, and your playing is really amazing! Great musicality!
Thanks a lot man, glad you enjoyed 🙏🏻 Sometimes I wonder why the Glyn Johns is so overlooked in the sound engineers world, most of them don’t even know the technique. I really love it and I’ll spread the message 😄
The recorder man setup is very similar to Glyn Johns. I’ve started exploring the recorder man setup and I’m still tweeking the sound. I’m going to back to using the large diaphragm mic over the snare. You’re absolutely correct with the mic straight above the snare being large diaphragm. I don’t know why I switched to the pencil condensers in the first place. Thanks again!
Thanks, I’m glad you liked the video! I use a Sony FDR AX-33, an iPhone 11 pro for backup and DaVinci for color correction and editing. I really don’t feel like a video making expert, I know the basics of lighting setup, recording and editing, I still have to get a lot better, but maybe one day I’ll show what I do also from the video editing POV. Meanwhile, if you have any other questions, feel free to hit me up on instagram and see if I can help you out! You find me as @valentinovitalimusic Cheers! 😄
I really love to watch cymbals breakdown and ideal behind your color of choise.
Maybe will do in the future, I have lots of cymbals that I cherish and that might deserve some talk. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
