      I think you might have got this information from the channels of anti-China organisations, which makes me think that you are not a sensible and intelligent person, you are too easy to be used and deceived, if you want to understand China and its political system, you have to go to China in person to experience all this, under the influence of European and American media, your perception might be wrong, which will make your understanding of China wrong, and you might have been brainwashed by the media.

    This is an outstanding video class… I took Modern China in 1979 in the University but it never got to Mao… (500 years ago was Modern to the professor) most disappointing! Your video, however, focused upon the last 100 years and that is FAR more interesting to me. Your maps depicting war lord turf was very rare! While I prefer photos over sketches of individuals I have no room to complain. Your diction and enunciation are superb for learning! Outstanding video! I am a new subscriber!

    It all started with China's first emperor - Qin Shi Huang Ying Zheng who unified the world and laid the foundation for China's unification for thousands of years to come. When you look at the history of ancient China, you will find that even if there was a split in the Chinese dynasties, it would not last for too many years, there would always be a leader who would try to unify the world, and all the emperors and generals of ancient China took unification of the world as their highest honour.

    Holy shit, I just finished this massive masterpiece and wanna give you your credit Jabzy. Not a lot of history channels have the will to go this far deep into the internal politics, workings and history of a country that's so often villainized and discarded by Western media because it's easier to just say "Well they all suck anyways so who cares?" when they could just make their 200th Nazi Germany video, but actually showing how a country became the way it is, something which imo is extremely unique when compared to anywhere else in the world, is what history is all about.
    This may not get a massive amount of attention because it is a 3.5 hour video about the history of modern China with out any deceptive fillers but hats off to you mate for doing this for the history buffs out there.

    What’s crazy is for Chinese people world war 2 started in the 30s. Europeans and Americans in the 20th center have never even come close to that length of turmoil. But they own the narrative so this is just a minor footnote in history. A small foreshadow to the real war. Yet the Chinese lost over 35 million under Japanese occupation. That’s an insane number of people. China went through hell and still overcame. I don’t love the Chinese government but China should not be seen as this pure socialist evil. They were abused and exploited for decades by Europe and then fought off a genocidal Regional power. They have a right to be cautious and nervous when dealing with the world. They’ve only been taught by their history that foreign powers want to exploit their nation and people.

    • @hayakawaken9493
      @hayakawaken9493 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      OK, so this may sound a bit pedantic but the world war II is never downplayed as simply the precursor to the civil war in the official narrative. Both are teached in school to every student with a major emphasis (maybe I should include the first civil war in late 20s and 30s too since it's portrayed as sort of Mao's origin story).

    I went back to listen again, and I am disappointed now that the word is actually "dues" and not dudes. Omg, I suggest highly that in future videos, at one spot in the script and only 1 to maintain the professionalism of the script, that one hilarious word is inserted somewhwre. Let us who know what's up listen intently through nearly 3 hours to find the hilarious part. Please do this because your voice and script like I said are super professional. Truly impressive, informative even for a Chinese who devoted to his own history. I believe there are 2 things that could also be mentioned in this video. First, Truman imposed an arms embargo in 1946-1947 to ROC, many KMT troop in the field suffered ammunition shortage. Second, aside from Uyghur's connections with foreign terrorist groups, more direct reason for CCP to systematicaly persecute Uyghurs is a series of terrorist attacks represented by July 2009 Ürümqi riots and 2014 Kunming attack, both events are indiscriminately targeted civilians.

    Looking back at Tiananmen
    Wang Dan felt there were many things that could have been changed about the movement, and he has raised these issues, both during and after the movement. In an interview with The New York Times published 2 June 1989, Wang states, "I think that the student movements in the future should be firmly based on something solid, such as the democratization of campus life or the realization of civil rights according to the Constitution,… Otherwise, the result is chaos."[31] Another issue Wang raises is the involvement of intellectuals in the movement, expressed in the Times interview as well as a 2008 interview titled "Tiananmen Remembered".[7] In this source he believes that intellectuals were not used early enough in the movement, and their involvement may have changed the course of events. Despite pointing out failures, Wang feels the protests affected the mentality of many Chinese people, arguing the hunger strike was necessary as it allowed greater attention on the movement. In addition to this, Wang feels that the crackdown, and the promotion of democracy garnered the attention of the entire nation and educated people on democracy, which was a new idea for many Chinese people.[8]
    On China's economic development
    Wang commented at a May 31, 2009, press conference in Toronto on the so-called "Beijing Doctrine": "For the sake of economic improvement, everything can be done, even killing people ... [such a doctrine shows that] the Tiananmen Massacre is still going on, only in different ways: it was the students' lives being taken physically in 1989, but it is the mind of the world being poisoned spiritually today." [32]
    United States politics
    Wang has claimed that the Black Lives Matter movement is a plot by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) to prevent Donald Trump from winning the 2020 presidential elections and to disrupt US civil society. He has additionally said that the Democratic Party is "weak" on China.[33] After Joe Biden won the 2020 elections, he said he wanted to hold-off recognizing Biden as president-elect and criticized the media for "biased reporting".[34]

      This is ironic, because in Trump literally asked President Xi to sign favorable deals in 2020 to help him get re-elected.
      Wang Dan probably saw Trump's earlier speeches and appointment of Navarro as a real opportunity to have a seat at the table, that the obsession with China was rooted in more than xenophobia. Can't blame him for trying, doing that would miss the whole point of the video which is that I DONT UNDERSTAND CHINA.
