I listened to this string quartet for the first time in August when I was filled with love for a woman whom I'd met in a tender sunny day in middle of March while walking along a river. The string quartet, as I told her, always recalls my beautiful memories of her and the memory of the time; the time when I thought about or imagine her while listening to the piece and looking out at the unusually big white moon shining like a pearl in the beautiful black sky. And now the memory of her love, even though she rejected it, and the tenderness of this quartet are like motifs in my life, the motifs make my life more exquisite.
What a wondeful performance . We are in the heart of the poem all along the interpretation. Each musician seems living the dialog throuh his instrument. Bravo !
Very old indeed : Ridout currently plays a viola by the Brescian violin maker Pellegrino Micheli c.1565-75 on loan from the Beare's International Violin Society.[26] The viola's back length is about 44 cm (~17.3 inches), but the bridge is further up the body than normal, so the playable string length is less and hence more manageable than what would be typical for such a large instrument.[27] wikipedia source

This became one of my favorite performances among all performances. Thank you.
I didn't know I liked Schoenberg until I watched this mega metal performance! Bravo! 🤘
My 2nd favorite Schoenberg, the 5 Pieces being first. Pelleas und Melisande was also pretty decent.

One of the finest in history of music.
I would love to give a like for every single musician…… what a joy to watch!
Wonderful musik composed 1899 when Schönberg was 25 and still a romantic. And a wonderful interpretation!

Why do they breathe so extremely loud? Something wrong about microphone-positions?
Audible breathing is polemic. I prefer not to do so myself but watching these people do this, I can't complain.
