Edited By Silver, I don't think New Horizons is "cool", I think it sucks. I don't like what I've seen from this game on TH-cam and like a lot of people I think New Leaf is better and has more appealing features and stuff that are cruelly missing in New Horizons. Also, in New Leaf you're the mayor and your villagers live good lives, whereas in New Horizons you live under an authoritarian dictator and his messed up authoritarian, fascist regime and the villagers you invite to your islands are at the "mercy" of this mentally unstable authoritarian control freak creature and the player is brainwashed into passively accepting and even brainwashingly enjoying living under this authoritarian dictatorship in a messed up anti-democracy system: What I’m basically trying to say is Tom Nook is a Tanuki with too much power. Bear in mind that you came to this tranquil island with no bells and no job and Tom Nook knows this because he controls the island. He guilt trips you into building an entire island as you literally owe him your life, and your tools. Every bell you earn goes straight back into his raccoon pocket, every fish you catch is a product of Nook Inc., and everything you wear is probably branded his company’s merch. He controls the means of production (you're using your Nook phone to earn Nook miles so you can buy Nook inc. products, the company producing those goods is owned by Tom Nook) and the media (the news). You can't craft furnitures, customize furnitures or build anything without his express approval and without going through him first and everything you purchase was made by his Nook inc. company, even your freaking phone. He's only giving you the illusion of freedom, the illusion of choice. Everything comes back to Tom Nook. Timmy refered to him as a fearless leader. If anything that adds credence to the coup theory; a military leader who seized power, it’s a tale as old as time. the-league-of-utter-disaster-chaos-and-insanity.fandom.com/wiki/Tom_Nook www.sidequesting.com/2020/01/tom-nook-sets-up-his-pyramid-scheme-in-new-trailer-for-animal-crossing-new-horizons/ www.thenutmegnews.com/current/2020/4/6/power-mad-dictator-fails-to-issue-universal-stay-at-home-order essers.medium.com/tom-nook-stole-my-wife-e1f037b3bbdf If that doesn't make your skin crawl and the hair at the back of your neck stand up, nothing else ever fucking will. Still think New Horizons is a "cool" game? I hope you enjoy being a mindless slave and living in a gilded cage (a place where someone appears to live in luxury but where he or she has very little freedom), I hope you enjoy living with the guilt that you condemn your villagers to live in that gilded cage with an awful dictator when you invite them to your island, I hope you enjoy watching in horror as you realize that this game was probably designed to desensitize everyone on the American government into passively accepting a corrupt government take over and designed to brainwash people into believeing that they could be so happy in life if they would just passively submit to an authoritarian, fascist Japanese dictatorship. The messed up person or people working at Nintendo of Japan who is behind this awful brainwashing game are probably laughing their ass out and cackling right about now because the rest of the folks working at Nintendo of Japan do not realize that evil elements infiltrated their company and are trying to take over the western world using their company to create a game (ACNH) that would make everyone who played it into hypnotized zombies walking around and saying things like "Democracy is overrated, we could all be so happy if we embraced a dictatorship and gave up our freedoms" or "The future is dictatorship and late stage capitalism, long live dictatorships and billionaires/bellionaires". Does that look appealing to you? I cringe in horror whenever I hear "And the WORST thing is... people ENJOY living under his dictatorship..." How quick are people to succomb to the brainwashing in our society. Unbelievable. There are still a lot of anti-democracy people in the United-States who made it clear that they would love to implement and/or embrace a Trump dictatorship and destroy democracy. If that doesn't fucking make you feel scared for the future of the United-States of America and its neighboring countries (like Canada and Mexico just to name a few) nothing else ever fucking will. Mimi.
Also the Mayor (i believe he is called tortimer in english) was actually in New Leaf. He owns the islands you can visit for the fun minigames (With or without friends. I really really miss this multiplayer feature). He also was there like "no i didn't die, i just have vacation" (at least in the german version
I love that you edit yourself into almost every frame, it's fuckin' hilarious! I'm watching this while playing games, and every time I look over you're flyin' across the screen somewhere. Shit's hilarious bro My first time watching you and I'm surprised you don't have more of a following. Keep it up man!
New Leaf is THAT GAME. There is so much soul and charm pouring out of it. The perfect balance between immersive life sim gameplay and player creativity, without making the player a god with the villagers as your humble servants who praise you blindly and are delighted to have you make every decision for them(coughcoughACNHcough). I am and was also furious about the lack of animal crossing Wii U. What could have been… The gyroids in ACNH are the perfect symbol of the biggest issues in the game. Animal Crossing has always been so quirky and unique. Gyroids are based on haniwa, traditional Japanese burial statues. In ACNH, the developers chose to change their design to something much more commercially appealing-and gyroids essentially became gacha toys. I miss having quirky weirdness in my animal crossing. ACNH, as you said, feels bland. All that being said, I do appreciate ACNH for what it did for people during the pandemic. I certainly enjoyed many aspects of it in spite of the disappointment. For original animal crossing fans, it can just be a little hard to swallow the loss of quirk and charm in our precious animal crossing.
@@SkyscannerGuyhoneslty dude i have never seen this type of editing on youtube. Its mostly peolle recording in their room or work office. This dude just edit himself in the game and stock footage.
I think Wild World in a lot of ways expands upon the dialogue of the original. For instance, you can now engage in a conversation between two animals in this game. Animals also developed their own distinct hobbies too from what I remembered. Finally, I believe villagers gossiped a little more about each other in this game than in any other game! All of this stuff is cool and really makes the world feel authentic. Sadly, this is where Animal Crossing’s animal interactions peaked even though there were so many ways they could expand from this. Like, think about villagers trying new things out and then giving you progress about it. How about more relationship details? Enemies, besties… lovers? All that stuff would be neat! Maybe some close 3 way friendships! I dunno! You can totally think outside the box here.
there definitely are certain animal crossing youtubers, but it's not an exclusive community. honestly i think we'd all love to see more content on any of the games, it's been one of the most welcoming communities (in my experience at least). sad that the new leaf online compatibility is leaving in a few months though :(
@@mommymaddyNO!!! My sister and I used to visit each other islands all the time as kids. We still have our DSs but they’re broken, we were going to repair them and finish our towns. I’m gonna cry pls tell me this isn’t true
i think new horizons feels really isolated, with all the shops etc being within your island, going to other islands by plane, very limited dialogue from the villagers and not having the island to go to. new leaf felt more easily accessible, even if the shops were in a completely different area! it felt like you were never too far away from civilisation, the train makes you feel closer for sure. new leaf feels less lonely, even when playing completely by yourself at 2am. really entertaining video tho!! not normally the longer video watcher but i was hooked :)
New Leaf is my favourite Animal Crossing. Played it at a hard time and felt so cozy and warm when playing it. The villagers are lovely, kind and well done. The progression feels earned and paced well and it’s addictive. When I unlocked the holiday island I was ecstatic! Knowing I’d have a chill island to make bells at, buy a Hawaiian shirt and catch big fish! And the music is so calming and SLAPS. Tbf though, pocket camp was okay enough and the theme for that I put into NL and ACNH. ACNH definitely got me through lockdown and joining FB groups for the Stalk Market, watering flowers and trading was fun! I even had an auction on my island selling off furniture I didn’t want and allowed others to bring theirs to sell! A friend also had an Easter egg hunt for furniture buried in holes! I’ve spent HOURS in ACNH and loved every second except the guest loading screen every time they arrive. Ugh. The DLC is fun, though! Still feels a little hollow and could’ve been better, but it’s still up there.
you can actually have 4 players on your island in new horizons!! you have to make a separate user profile on your switch, and if they play on a game that already has an established island, they are able to build a house and live on the island w/ the main profiles character
Exactly, you have extra profiles one of which is your younger brother plays for a few weeks and leaves his house unattended and villagers bug you for the year and a half asking you how he is.
yeah i was very confused when he said you can't have multiple player houses on the island when i'm pretty sure that was showed off in the trailers when the game launched
So sorry for getting this wrong, honestly had no idea! I even remember trying to google this and being told you couldn’t have more than one! But thank you for watching!
I think wild world will always be my favorite because of brewsters cafe. I love the music there and i always thought it was sweet how brewster opened up to you.
New Leaf was my first animal crossing game and I think it set me up for disappointment a bit lol. I have enjoyed the other AC games that I've tried, but they just lack a certain something that New Leaf had. I can't even put into words what it is, though you did a way better job at it than I can. It just hits different. Even though I can't even remember what I would spend so many hours doing in this game where we couldn't even decorate with furniture outside lol
Its not even the "first game bias" either as Wild World and GC were my first experiences with AC but New Leaf truly was just peak for the franchise I feel.
I didn't start with New Leaf, and I've played all the animal crossing games but I still think it's the best or second best in the series. There are definitely some things that make it special to me, though there are also flaws in it compared to older games too. I think part of it is I love the 3ds, and the online experience in new leaf was really good.
SIR! Can we just talk about the editing quality on this? Having your presence on each and every frame was a complete and utter game-changer. It immersed me all the more in what you were saying, and made your jokes land even harder. Also: your style? Killer. Looooove the cloaks/kimonos/whatever you wanna call them you rocked in this. I'm definitely sticking around to see more of what you'll make in the future, and hope you can carve out your own niche in the ever-welcoming AC community :)
Obviously, like you said, this isn't an in-depth review but I just wanted to say that I think most of the value in the AC series is not just found through the new graphics and music. The best parts of the games are always their events, new special characters, and upgrades. The kinds of things you only uncover through months of gameplay. The flea market in WW and CF (I haven't really played the first AC), Shampoodle's first introduction in CF, Dr.Shrunk's major role in NL with Club LOL, The never-ending Nooks upgrades, All of the holidays and special events through all the games and especially NL were incredible. But most importantly for me was the island in NL, not only was it the best place to catch sharks and golden stags to become rich asf but the online version was so necessary and fun, I made so many friends through those visits and minigames and it is such a mystery to me why NH lacks anything like it.
It made me so happy that you praised New Leaf the way you did, it's a game that I have many memories with New Leaf and I still play it to this day! My older sister still owns the first cartridge we ever played on, I wish new Horizon had the same personality to it, but I like how I can express myself more. I just wish my villagers could too, their text gets boring as time passes
im so sorry you couldnt experience new leaf while it was most popular because it was so so great to play online. i have almost 2000 hours on it and im still in contact with some of the friends i met on there. i had so much fun playing online with my friends and glitching out of bounds (until it got patched with hello amiibo's release 🙁). it's definitely my favorite animal crossing game ever, not only for the nostalgia factor but just because of how much fun it was to play online
I will say the best part of City Folk to me is no longer available to use, being the online component with the WiiSpeak. The sheer amount of hours and days my buddies and I spent on each other's islands talking with each other on the WiiSpeak boggles my mind even today. It was top-tier comfy gaming for us Nintendo kids.
yeah those online components that no longer work have always driven me mad. I am still salty the Resistance 2 Co-op game mode is not even playable today. The only game that came back online is Demon souls on PS3 because the fans have a private server just for console + PC to play on.
@@casedistorted I played City Folk earlier this year with my girlfriend online. There are private servers for Wii and Emulators so, if you're ever looking for that kind of stuff, it's out there!
Just wanted to say, there's an audience for New Leaf content and most Animal Crossing TH-camrs still focus on New Horizons, so I think a retrospective would do pretty well
such an underrated channel omg, i watched the first few mins thinking this was the quality of someone who had like at LEAST 10k subs so imagine my shock when i saw 900, you deserve way more man
I was also shocked by the "low" sub number, which is now at 1.35K, but seeing your comment, it means that the channel got more than 400 new subscribers in a day, so maybe the 10K are not so far away, who knows ?
AC1 was my JAM back in the day. I played so much of it through the years when I first got it. One of the coolest features was collectible NES games you could find. Blew my mind as a kid to be able to play full NES games like Excitebike and Donkey Kong. It was the perfect pre-internet game because there were so many random things that could occur each day that me and my friends would talk about. It had such an organic vibe of wondering "I wonder what will happen tomorrow?"
The GC animal crossing was my first game, and there’s something so nostalgic about fishing for coelacanths on rainy days. I go back and play it at least once a month 😭
Dec 31, 2019 I suffered a major stroke while in high school that made me sustain permanent brain damage, I was confused and scared trying to navigate this new circumstance that I did not ask for. Three months later animal crossing new horizons came out and while I did not own a switch at the time, watching TH-camrs play it for hours and hours on end helped me cope and get through a very difficult time in my life. I know it’s not perfect but new horizons got me through the hardest thing that I’ve experienced in my life and is still helping me today (I eventually got a switch lite as a gift for getting thru and graduating high school and new horizons from my boyfriend 💕)
Good video, glad yt recommended this to me. Gamecube Animal Crossing was my start and its so nostalgic to see. My favourite feature of the game was how all the villagers were mean to you and you had to actually earn their friendship. I have beef with Gruff to this day bc of him saying he thought I died and laughed about it. New Leaf is my all time favorite tho. No competition
Aside from being the man behind K.K. Slider, Kazumi Totaka (5:30) is also the composer of the Wii & Wii Sports music. And the voice of Yoshi. Absolute legend
duuuude you haven't even started talking about the island function in New leaf! I loved this type of online gaming experience and had the most fun just playing the island games with strangers
They always tell us it's just nostalgia when we say that New Horizons feels like a massive step backwards from New Leaf, but I think videos like yours really prove that New Leaf was just a genuinely better game and New Horizons completely dropped the ball. The updates and the DLC *helped* but it's still a long way from that peak and unfortunately they've completely abandoned it now. At this point, all I want anymore is to just be able to play New Leaf on the Switch.
It doesn't prove anything because it's all just opinion :P I played new leaf before new horizons came out and enjoyed it so much that I pre ordered new horizons along side the themed switch. Even though I already owned a switch. I think new horizons is the better game. I try to return to new leaf sometimes, but new horizons was just a huge step up in so many areas that it's hard to go back.
Imo I wouldn’t say new horizons dropped the ball even in the slightest. The only thing new horizons lacked was interesting dialogue which yes in essence it’s a game about making friends and even family but the ability to change your island and decorate it and do so much added to much to the series and allowed me to put so many hours into it. New lead is superior in some ways but I still think both are equally good
New horizons was great in every area aside from the social aspect. New leaf has better villagers and there's tortimer island for playing with friends. But with New Horizons I'm so busy designing the island, getting fish, visiting mystery islands, and there's just so much to do that I forget to talk to villagers.
@@moritzmonaghan9421so youre gonna lie to justify you liking new horizons more?? It was literally a step back and there’s many videos going over all the steps back. You can like it more but you cant lie and say it was a step up
People just have different things they like. I think saying it "completely" dropped the ball is extreme. Now that they introduced so many new features which appeal to people who love designing, hopefully now they can make something more balanced next time. To say that it's just nostalgia that makes people think that New Leaf is better is to make some doubt their rationality which is freaking annoying. I hate that kind of manipulation. I hope New Leaf and New Horizons can be wonderfully blended in the next Animal Crossing game. If one doesn't value the limitless designing and becoming god in New Horizons, then yeah they will feel like New Leaf is the better game. Actually they are very different games. New Horizons is not simply a game with improvements on New Horizons. The truth is that there are even people who play New Leaf after New Horizons and like NL better. I love what the kind of ideas they introduced with New Horizons. It shows people what kinds of things they are willing to add to an Animal Crossing game. I definitely think New Leaf is better though. I just like the ideas they introduced. A big problem is how the game has no progression.
ACNH does in fact let you have multiple friends on the same island - just use a different account on the same console. this is how me and my girlfriend played. it even allows for couch coop. it’s pretty cool tbh
I have, currently, 1,220 some odd hours in New Horizon. What killed the game was Nintendos lie that the game would receive 3 years of consecutive updates. If they held to that promise, I’d still be playing it religiously to this day
Fun fact: one of the first lets plays ever uploaded was of the original animal crossing...who made it you ask? Chris-chan. Creator of sonichu. Sonichu, was technically in nintendo power magazine
The original Animal Crossing will always be the best. It’s the MOST authentic Animal Crossing game I feel. Like, it feels like it wants to encapsulate life in both the good and bad. Sometimes, you make a bad deal with a fox, you don’t get lucky when shaking trees, your friend moves away, or you don’t win the monthly raffle, but that’s okay. You just keep trucking along and live for those precious moments you make like finding a new secret in your town, meeting villagers and making memories with them with their well-written dialogue, decorating your house, and playing some sweet NES games! See, the dialogue was huge in this game, as I felt like there was some real passion put behind what these animals were saying. Sure, these animals aren’t real, but their voices were as real people wrote this game. In comparison, New Horizons feels AI generated with its bland dialogue and that is so sad. Wild World is close to being the best, but the game is just not fun to play on DS and it didn’t have holidays. It added a lot of smart features that I loved! In the end, it’s just a portable version of the GameCube game as a pseudo-sequel. That’s why when the Wii version came out, it was a little underwhelming, as it was basically the same game but with the dialogue being pretty weak among the characters and the city was a lame gimmick. New Leaf was special and really added a lot. Honestly, if the dialogue was as good as the first game, this would be the perfect Animal Crossing game. Now, when New Horizons came out, I think Nintendo saw how people were customizing their whole town and decided to make New Horizons most about town customization rather that living in a community. Now the game designer here is completely at odds with its self as now it had a hard time deciding whether or not it should limit your freedom and function more like a life simulation or more like a town building game with no restrictions. In the end, it missed the mark by a mile, along with the decision to just add more to the game overtime just making me not have anything else to do. What a letdown and I am worried about the future state of the series, but whatever happens I know I at least always have the original game to go back to.
I fell in love with Animal Crossing when I played the original as a kid, but I don't think I could go back because my favourite part of New Horizons is the customization. There are 2 things that I was hoping for that didn't happen. I was hoping for the ability to have multiple islands on one console (having to share and island with elementary school kids is really annoying... I love my kids, but they don't understand island design). And I was hoping that they could have a 360 camera. The fixed camera drives me crazy and I was thinking that it only existed in older games because of the limitations back then... but they should have figured that out by now. I'm not going to argue about the dialog in the original vs New Horizons because I have always just skipped past it because I just focus on collecting and decorating. The older games have WAY less options for decorating, but with NH, you can decorate your entire island and the houses of the villagers. I do wish you could move the river mouths and reshape the beaches, but I get why that wasn't possible... maybe in the next game. Tbh, I wish they would make a game like Mario Maker where you could just design game worlds. If I could have a game that let me create Breath of the Wild size world maps, I would never need another game again.
wild world/city world imo were the peak of animal crossing (though im biased because wild world was my first game) when nintendo wifi servers were still up and running. It was very normal to go hunting on youtube/forums for people who would share their FCs and you'd just chill with random strangers all day long in their towns. The charm of the older games are unfortunately a bit lost if you dont have people to play the game with.
New Horizons came out right when the world needed it most, but New Leaf is still the best game in terms of feeling like a new and different Animal Crossing experience. :)
The Guts theme music on Tortimer's "death" made me hit instant subscribe lol. BTW, did you know New Leaf has more text than the King James Bible? That is why the dialogue is interesting and all of the villagers feel more realistic!
My first experience with AC is New Leaf. I had sooo much fun and got a few of my close friends at the time into it and we all played together and went to Tortimer's island all the time. I thought New Horizon's was going to be at least similar and I was taken aback since I hadn't looked into the previous Animal Crossing games. That might just be me though.
This is great! The Animal Crossing franchise is 100% my most nostalgic video game series ever, I’ve been playing it for over a decade. So I really appreciate seeing the classic games get the attention they deserve!
I don’t even wanna know how long it took for you to insert yourself into every shot like that lol. Also great trip down memory lane! Keep up the great work
seeing footage from Zachscottgames for the new leaf section makes my heart feel so full. his series on the game is exactly what got me into it in the first place, i remember getting the game for my following birthday and being quite possibly the happiest kid alive.
i am on my hands and knees BEGGING you to make that indepth New Leaf video!! It's my (and many animal crossing fans') favourite game in the franchise and I'm always starved for content on it no matter how much there is!!
In case anyone’s worried about tortimer, he runs a game island that you can unlock later in the game It’s super fun, and was probably my favourite feature in the game as a kid, and i still love doing the mazes
You have got to be one of the most underrated creators I have come across in a MINUTE. Your editing is absolutely insane and overall your content is super engaging. Can't wait to see more from you!
Bro this is Wild- Keep it up. Glad this popped up in my recommended. I didn't realise how many American TH-camrs I watch until I heard your accent. Breath of fresh air In my opinion hah
I love these kind of videos. I think you missed that you totally can have more than one person on the same island in New Horizons. Just like in the old Animal Crossings. You can even all play at the same time with 4 controllers.
6:40 i actually miss back when Villagers were rude and snotty. they had way more personality in the older games. in new leaf forward they made them so friendly that a lot of the personalities kinda feel samey now. i miss villagers telling me i was fat and ugly lol.
You have to play for longer to see all the Easter eggs and features, also city folk has a whole shopping area separate to the town which wild world doesn’t have, but wild world and new leaf are my favs
i love ur video!! u showed up in my recommended i’m so happy i clicked on it. as a huge fan of the franchise i have never been more upset with the release of new horizons. i counted down for two years waiting for the game to come out to just be disappointed. new leaf was my favorite game. the villagers felt real. new horizons made robot npcs for the villagers basically. crafting is tedious. multiplayer functionality is weak as well as co op. they just slapped some dlc on it expecting it to keep the longevity. it didn’t. the game is already over pretty much. the worst part is that it sold millions of units only because of covid and i know nintendo is looking at the sales and thinking they made something great and they did not. i really hope whatever comes next in the next few years can be a mix of new leaf and new horizons. it has potential but damn nintendo really messed up. also waiting for my tomodachi life port for the switch hopefully that happens soon. do a tomodachi life video!!
Couldn't agree more - I plan to give to go in more detail about New Horizon later on (probably when a new animal crossing gets announced) but thank you for the kind comment!
I swear I’ve heard the moon cat dialogue 8 times now from tangy, I miss New Leaf villagers so much 😭 I invited Freya to my island because she was my favourite in New Leaf, but she feels like a completely different person in New Horizons.
The appeal for New Horizons was definitely creating your very own island. It's the only reason I play now lol. I've started playing New Leaf again with a new town for the actual Animal Crossing experience. We need a mix of both games and it would be perfect.
My friend with the bird picture shared your video with me! How do you not have more subscribers?? Your editing is amazing fr fr Also, I avoid replaying some of the games that are nostalgic in my mind because I know it would be a whole different (and probably boring) experience now. Unfortunately, Animal Crossing wasn't one of them 😅Nintendo is a complicated topic in Brazil
Such a delightfully charming video, from the editing to your voice to your enthusiasm about the series. Glad the Recommended section brought me here. :)
For me, I can’t go back to new leaf because I love the graphics and quality of the display in new horizons, but I do with that they had brought over more of the features and the charm people are referring to. Awesome video!
Fun fact about Tom Nook: He admits in Happy Home Designer that he donates a large portion (I think around 90%) of his profits to an orphanage/charity, before telling you to not spread the word so he can keep up appearances. So, naturally, I like to spread the word anyway.
bro i rushed so quick to this vid in my subscription tab 😭 your content is like tasty potato chips, i can't eat just one tysm, imma pop this one on a PIP window while i work, the visual editing is a treat and funny
I literally just got into your channel and i didnt realize i got entertained for so long with this video. I thought this dude had like 100k subs with this high quality content but i saw he had only 4k????? LIKE WHYYYY?? You have so much potential and this video is just the beginning and i will be there to say i was the 4,612th subscriber when you hit 1 million subs, Keep up this good work my fella
I've played every AC game since Wild World. My favourite music was from WW, but the most hours were spent on NL. I have so many great memories with this franchise.
This gave me so much nostalgia. I charged my old consoles earlier and started a new town, ended up stumbling across your video. Watched the whole thing. Great editing, dude. New sub. 👍🏻
Your video made me really miss Animal Crossing. I have played ever since it came out in 2001 for the Gamecube. I played it constantly, and continued through the years with each title. I agree HEAVILY about Wild World and City Folk and how they were severely lacking and felt lazy af. New Leaf and New Horizons were the best but New Leaf had to be the best out of any of them. Think I might pull out my 3Ds because of you! Thank you for this fantastic video and amazing editing in every frame possible.
this is such a good video, i relate to most of this including wild world being your first game but feeling so lackluster upon revisiting it. i recently started a new leaf town after not playing for nearly 6 years, and after 3 years of that "something is missing" feeling new horizons gave me. its incredible how different the games feel. i'm really sad i can't play online, but i honestly think the other stuff new leaf offers outweighs new horizons's online capability
I’m disappointed that Wild World didn’t hit for you!! I’m on a mission to be able to play it again. Trying to play New Leaf again hasn’t really worked for me but I was so into it years ago. There’s something so wonderful about experiencing a new Animal Crossing, I guess.
For every single animal crossing that ever released, my mom would go and buy the respective console that it released on so that we could play together. So many good memories.
City Folk was actually my first Animal Crossing game, and I really enjoyed it. That being said, I never played the OG or Wild World, so my bias could be making it seem better then it was, but I do remember Groucho and Tom in my town, and despite both being cranky villagers, they had different dialogue about what they liked/wanted to be, and I thought that was very interesting at the time. Not sure if Wild World or New Leaf had the same character traits, as I never had either villager in New Leaf, but... Oh well. XD Regardless, New Horizons really did come out at a perfect time, and while the game is still fun, it's a shame that the villagers are so bland compared to past games.
It came out on March 20th, 2020 I specifically bought a Switch when I heard this game was coming out and I still play it daily even though there's not much going on if you don't have online friends to play with daily.
I've played Animal Crossing since it came out on the Game Cube. I can say with certainty that the one I put the most hours into was New Leaf. As much as I love New Horizons, the villagers just feel so flat and like collectables rather than neighbors you live next to, it was pretty sad to me when I realized it.
@@EditedbySilvers yeah you can have up to 8 player characters in new horizons, and I'm pretty sure you can play together on one switch with some limitations.
This video came up on my recommended and I was instantly sucked in! You have a real talent for making videos. I can really see the effort and detail you put in. Keep it up!
New Leaf holds the most value in my eyes.. I played the HELL out of that game with more stories I'd care to share or youd care to hear.. I crack open the 3ds every couple yrs and do a little walk around just to take me back to those days..
i only ever played New Horizons, i watched a friend play the original AC but i didnt really understand much of what the game was about and what he was doing, but i fell in love with New Horizons, i have around 600H so far clocked and recently got back into the game after taking a long break

I don't think New Horizons is "cool", I think it sucks. I don't like what I've seen from this game on TH-cam and like a lot of people I think New Leaf is better and has more appealing features and stuff that are cruelly missing in New Horizons.
Also, in New Leaf you're the mayor and your villagers live good lives, whereas in New Horizons you live under an authoritarian dictator and his messed up authoritarian, fascist regime and the villagers you invite to your islands are at the "mercy" of this mentally unstable authoritarian control freak creature and the player is brainwashed into passively accepting and even brainwashingly enjoying living under this authoritarian dictatorship in a messed up anti-democracy system:
What I’m basically trying to say is Tom Nook is a Tanuki with too much power.

If that doesn't make your skin crawl and the hair at the back of your neck stand up, nothing else ever fucking will.

Shit's hilarious bro
My first time watching you and I'm surprised you don't have more of a following. Keep it up man!
Thank you so much!
@@EditedbySilvershow long does it take to do that?
Completely agree, absolutely love how he edits himself in
A video for me can take about 2 weeks to a month! Tends how ambitious I'm feeling!
@@EditedbySilverswow that’s impressive! Thanks for your hard work:) I love animal crossing content
What could have been…
The gyroids in ACNH are the perfect symbol of the biggest issues in the game.
Wdym there is animal crossing amiibo festival on the wii U i used to have it and i liked it (not more than new leaf)
@@Aranara2203bro im sorry but your opinion is invalid

RIGHT!!! i LOVE this video
I dunno! You can totally think outside the box here.
there definitely are certain animal crossing youtubers, but it's not an exclusive community. honestly i think we'd all love to see more content on any of the games, it's been one of the most welcoming communities (in my experience at least). sad that the new leaf online compatibility is leaving in a few months though :(
Online compatibility? As in you can't visit each other's islands?
@@rubybak3r i believe it’ll be ending in like march
@@mommymaddyNO!!! My sister and I used to visit each other islands all the time as kids. We still have our DSs but they’re broken, we were going to repair them and finish our towns. I’m gonna cry pls tell me this isn’t true
@@peachbee3396idk if it will completely shut down but I think local play still works
NO i cant believe nintendo is already gonna pull the plug on it :|
i think new horizons feels really isolated, with all the shops etc being within your island, going to other islands by plane, very limited dialogue from the villagers and not having the island to go to. new leaf felt more easily accessible, even if the shops were in a completely different area! it felt like you were never too far away from civilisation, the train makes you feel closer for sure. new leaf feels less lonely, even when playing completely by yourself at 2am. really entertaining video tho!! not normally the longer video watcher but i was hooked :)
Thats how i got my sister into playing it :))
I remember my dad having a house in my island, so when he said that you couldn't have more than one character on a island i got pretty bugged out
New leaf has my absolute favourite piece of animal crossing music, which is the 7pm hourly music, it's so melancholy somehow I love it
I think wild world will always be my favorite because of brewsters cafe.
Spending hours at night on the island catching bugs and sharks to fill that bank account. 😅
@@rebmaslmbr3450Wasn't the game multilingual tho? Did you have a US copy or something like that?
Help i went on an entire rant about NH in that comment but it got cut out.. nintendo is out to get me
It made me so happy that you praised New Leaf the way you did, it's a game that I have many memories with New Leaf and I still play it to this day!
My older sister still owns the first cartridge we ever played on, I wish new Horizon had the same personality to it, but I like how I can express myself more. I just wish my villagers could too, their text gets boring as time passes
City Folk is where I started. Still my favorite ❤
Same!
My first as well!! So nostalgic ☺️
im so sorry you couldnt experience new leaf while it was most popular because it was so so great to play online. i have almost 2000 hours on it and im still in contact with some of the friends i met on there. i had so much fun playing online with my friends and glitching out of bounds (until it got patched with hello amiibo's release 🙁). it's definitely my favorite animal crossing game ever, not only for the nostalgia factor but just because of how much fun it was to play online
There are private servers for Wii and Emulators so, if you're ever looking for that kind of stuff, it's out there!
city folk was my first ac game ❤ i spent so many hours playing it and for some reason i decided to restart 💀 never regretted something more
Just wanted to say, there's an audience for New Leaf content and most Animal Crossing TH-camrs still focus on New Horizons, so I think a retrospective would do pretty well
such an underrated channel omg, i watched the first few mins thinking this was the quality of someone who had like at LEAST 10k subs so imagine my shock when i saw 900, you deserve way more man
I was also shocked by the "low" sub number, which is now at 1.35K, but seeing your comment, it means that the channel got more than 400 new subscribers in a day, so maybe the 10K are not so far away, who knows ?
@@filiaaut 1.88k now. Growing fast.
I know it’s not perfect but new horizons got me through the hardest thing that I’ve experienced in my life and is still helping me today (I eventually got a switch lite as a gift for getting thru and graduating high school and new horizons from my boyfriend 💕)
your editing had me crying the whole vid 😂definitely gonna check out your other works too
Good video, glad yt recommended this to me.
It doesn't prove anything because it's all just opinion :P
I played new leaf before new horizons came out and enjoyed it so much that I pre ordered new horizons along side the themed switch.

YOU ARE SO UNDERRATED
I have, currently, 1,220 some odd hours in New Horizon. What killed the game was Nintendos lie that the game would receive 3 years of consecutive updates.
If they held to that promise, I’d still be playing it religiously to this day
Fun fact: one of the first lets plays ever uploaded was of the original animal crossing...who made it you ask?

this channel is so underrated, the work put in is amazing!!
as someone who played every anim crossing game since new world and loved the franchise for almost 20 years: i agree with everything
this video was a huge nostalgia ride ngl- new leaf is def my fav (surprised you didn't talk about the minigames island !)
great job on the vid dude
If I could have a game that let me create Breath of the Wild size world maps, I would never need another game again.
new leaf i feel had the best balance between giving you options to customize things while also the villagers still having personality
New leaf had so much charm ❤ getting to unlock new shops and grow the main town tree was the best part. I wish we saw more new buildings in NH.
wild world/city world imo were the peak of animal crossing (though im biased because wild world was my first game) when nintendo wifi servers were still up and running.
Bro... seeing you talk so positively about New Leaf made me emotional, brought back memories fam
The Guts theme music on Tortimer's "death" made me hit instant subscribe lol. BTW, did you know New Leaf has more text than the King James Bible? That is why the dialogue is interesting and all of the villagers feel more realistic!
That is such a random comparison I had to laugh. Are you just saying that or did you actually learn that from somewhere? lol

In case anyone’s worried about tortimer, he runs a game island that you can unlock later in the game
It’s super fun, and was probably my favourite feature in the game as a kid, and i still love doing the mazes

Your editing is amazing fr fr
Also, I avoid replaying some of the games that are nostalgic in my mind because I know it would be a whole different (and probably boring) experience now. Unfortunately, Animal Crossing wasn't one of them 😅Nintendo is a complicated topic in Brazil
Yeah, Nintendo is just one of those companies lol but thanks for coming through!
I totally forgot the characters tan 😂
One of my favourite things about the older games is how much ruder the villagers are
5:30 oh hey, it's Huck. This guy was at my campsite in New Horizons today. I never saw him before so I thought he was new 🤣

"Welcome to my channel, over here we sh*t on Nintendo." Subscribed.
I’m with you bro, I have so much nostalgia for Wild World.
I’m disappointed that Wild World didn’t hit for you!! I’m on a mission to be able to play it again. Trying to play New Leaf again hasn’t really worked for me but I was so into it years ago. There’s something so wonderful about experiencing a new Animal Crossing, I guess.
2:04 😂😂😂 yes the music in AC is awesome!
Love the editing!!! You desearve more subs! also, you earned a sub :)
Hearing the new leaf music made me smile immediately because it’s so nostalgic
Oh well. XD
Regardless, New Horizons really did come out at a perfect time, and while the game is still fun, it's a shame that the villagers are so bland compared to past games.
i remember having hours on new leaf and always enjoying the little boat song and never skipping it bc i thought it was so cute
I'm so jealous seeing you walking around in New Horizons forest. I know it's a green screen but it looks so good 🥺❤️
It came out on March 20th, 2020 I specifically bought a Switch when I heard this game was coming out and I still play it daily even though there's not much going on if you don't have online friends to play with daily.
I also got a switch specifically for acnh! I feel that I play acnh in blocks, leaving it for months and then getting back into it to relax..
@@ahhh6328 Nothing wrong with that Animal Crossing is after all about playing at your own pace rather than needing to play daily unless you want to.
I've played Animal Crossing since it came out on the Game Cube. I can say with certainty that the one I put the most hours into was New Leaf. As much as I love New Horizons, the villagers just feel so flat and like collectables rather than neighbors you live next to, it was pretty sad to me when I realized it.
I love this editing style! I find it better to enjoy and I think it’s so creative 😭 please do more of these I beg I was dying at some points
“Gimme my bells, bITCH.” LMAO I died. Loved this video and will be subscribing
man new leaf is so good, i’m glad it was my main childhood game
Really nice and interesting video this is one of the few videos that don’t get boring halfway through and you actually want to stay to the end
3:38 I think you can? I’m not too sure if I get what you mean but in acnh you can have multiple players on the same island on the same switch
Yeah you can if you create a different account on the switch and open the game (using the nook phone you can also play at the same time)
@@tara.p yeah exactly
Oh really? My mistake... I don't remember being able to when looking into it!
Just came across this video in my recommended. Loved the intro lol! Liked and subbed :)
HE MISSED POCKET CAMP!
i only ever played New Horizons, i watched a friend play the original AC but i didnt really understand much of what the game was about and what he was doing, but i fell in love with New Horizons, i have around 600H so far clocked and recently got back into the game after taking a long break
Ahhh I loved this! So original ! Subbed and hoping you continue to grow!! 😊
