Totally agree with you. Me being 62 I have so many friends caught in the 60's with music. "Oh it ain't like it use to be" Really annoys me. TRY listening to the current music and you will find some Excellent bands. Luckily my younger daughters keep me in tune with today and Not yesterday...Sorry for the rant lol. Love these guys
Yes i can hear the oldies influence in every chord and riff and it's been a long time comming. Music that is just nice and clean, where the words and music can be heard and appreciated. No autotune, no BS sound machine! Just four dudes and their talent. Rock on!
I also hear some CCR and The Guess Who. Some hints of Burton Cummings in the lead singer's voice. For those of you who don't know that band, Lenny Kravitz did a not bad version of their song American Woman. The Guess Who were also a band from the Canadian Prairies. Great straight ahead rock and roll band.
Had the pleasure of meeting these guys a month or two ago. Honestly some of the nicest guys I have ever met. Nothing has gone to their head. Were more than happy just to stand and talk to everyone, and didn't leave until everyone had gotten the picture that they wanted. Gained a lot of respect for them that night. Easily one of my favourite bands.
Southern Dreaming! Love the band, love the song. I'm from Georgia and this gives me some sound that reminds me of The Atlanta Rhythem Section, Marshall Tucker Band, Widespread Panic, The Allman Brothers Band and more. Keep up the good work Dogs.
I was cooking one excptionally fine evening and i made the singer a burger, corn on the cob, and potato salad shortly before grooving in the clouds behind a grill on the patio of Paddy Flaherty's in Sarnia Canada days before their RS debut. we've got a hell of a lot of great bands stumbling through this little chemical border-city but these guys hit it big and i dont expect to see them at my bar again, they've got that golden magic gift. wish i could've smoked a joint with them too.
I went to the Kings of Leon concert in London, Ontario. These guys were out there crowd surfing after they played! i was in the first row and i got to shake their hands when they passed by. Awesome Band.
I'm 21, grew up on Bob Seger, BTO and CCR. Paps was a biker. This too me is godly. I hope these guys make it big and don't forget their roots. Goodluck with Rolling Stone cover!
I agree, whenever people say their is no good music anymore I mention this band, along with Rival Sons, Monster Truck, etc.. a lot of great music inspired by the classics is being made today and it is TODAY'S music... I love it
I think what most people mean when they say " todays music" is referring to what is played on Top 40 radio ( if there even is such a thing. ) You know, the Grammy Awards people. But I agree that there are a lot of good musicians still making good music. It's just not mainstream anymore. You just have to dig a little more to find it.
THANK FUCKING GOD A BAND LIKE THIS COMES ALONG! The Sheepdogs, Taddy Porter and Airbourne are some of the only new rock bands that keep the old school sound and style of rock n roll from the good old days, the more bands like this to come out the brighter the future rock has. ROCK ON GUYS!
I have definitely seen the lead singer with a Dickey Betts Fan Club T-shirt on in another video so i would say you are on the money! Love their sound. when a friend played them for me the first time i thought for sure this was a lost band from the 70s How wrong and happy i was/am.
I seen Jimmy bowskill front row at wolfstock in Peterborough Ontario Canada he is a amazing guitarist who can really play the guitar before he was a key part of the sheepdogs
I agree. The best thing is to simply take each song "case by case". Although overall I prefer the music of the 1960's thru the 80's because those were "my years" as a formative youngster and young adult. But I would only hope that kids of today could love all these songs by "The Sheepdogs" and similar artists.
It's kind of funny how many people there are who pride themselves of having amazing music tastes because they love all the classics. They blatantly remind the world how music today sucks and they wish they lived in the 60s and 70s. But when a band such as The Sheepdogs come around and create music that resembles that time period, instead of rejoicing in amazing music they criticize the music and categorize it as a rip off. Oh well, I'm proud to say I love music from the past and from my own era
such a great band. its real music not all beats and chords from a computer. real guys playing real drums and guitars singing their own songs. love thses guys. perfect '70s era band. lol.
Totally agree with you. Me being 62 I have so many friends caught in the 60's with music. "Oh it ain't like it use to be" Really annoys me. Yes i can hear the oldies influence in every chord and riff and it's been a long time comming. Music that is just nice and clean, where the words and music can be heard and appreciated. No autotune, no BS sound machine! Just four dudes and their talent. Rock on!

I'm a rocker, Alter Bridge, Foo Fighters, Shinedown, etc, but these guys are soothing and soft, I really like it, very much 70's music, very cool.

Sausagefest was awsome. The Sheepdogs are the new best thing with the old twang. Good stuff boys!!!
Us Canadians rock it. Canada is where rock and roll chose to live. The proof is in The Sheepdogs and JOEL PLASKETT.
I love this band..... They give me the feels.

Its cool to be Canadian and hear the great musical influences in this band...The Guess Who...a little Jeff Healy ... and a whole lotta soul..........
@1971Goldtop I think the church-turned-house was still occasionally hosting a band or two to record music.
Your right, it's in the water. Right after it's properly fermented...
They have a little Allman Brothers feel. Amazing
And Grateful Dead,Guess Who and stuff like that.
It is a crime that Justin Bieber has sold more albums than these guys. An absolute crime.
Totally enjoyed them at Bridgefest in Battleford Saskatchewan last night August 27 2011
How to tell a good band from a bad one: In live shows and music videos they appear content and not overjoyed and smiling or POed
the Spirit of the Western Canada.
they're awesome
True, hard nowadays to just come here to see and think :
