Me and my buddy seen them play in Sackville, New Brunswick to about 10 people and we were looking at each other going "Why the F*** are these guys not playing in front of hundreds?" They blew us away.....and I am not surprised they made it....I was really happy for them when I saw them on MTV.
These guys probably don't even know how famous they are about to become. Them and the Black Keys are, i hope, the resurrection of real music. These guys really got a good The Who sounds.
This is the luckiest damn audience! I can only imagine Ewan has done hundreds of these little gigs around Saskatchewan growing up.. wish I could've been there for some of them!!
They just played Area 506 on August 4th. Outstanding set of tunes. These guys were great, back in 2015 when I saw them at Casino NB. They were even better this time around. Fantastic. High energy. Skilled artists. Crowd loved them. Pretty sure they were digging the crowd also.
The 90's and beyond had people trying too hard to reinvent the wheel. Plus they all copied each other too much, especially the vocals. And they thought they were so innovative. Most of it was so boring. I especially want honest singing and not just some monotone low pitched mouth noises. Sheepdogs rule. This is the band that is bringing rock back.
These guys are great!! They remind me of wearing Levis and baseball jersey tees, listening to mixed tapes, and passing around a doobie... but much fresher! Awesome groove, lots of soul, great harmonies. (Btw, is it just me or does the guitar riff at 3:23 sound like Bowie's Starman?)
You should also check out Monster Truck. They recently toured with The Sheep Dogs. Another awesome up and coming Canadian group, who incidentally turned me onto The Sheep Dogs.
@sundogkid The Arkells are from Hamilton, which is clearly not a backwoods kind of place, more like a relic lost in the modern post industrial era. ;0) Anyway, they are both great bands
Damn dude, I put your voice in a class with the late great Ronnie Van Zant and the still, live and kickin Gregg Allman. I'm not saying you sound LIKE them just that it is of the same caliber. That's probably the best/biggest compliment I could give a singer. I just heard of the Sheepdogs last week and I already a big fan !!! Please post info on where we can buy your music.
@jtettes could be..." Well I've seen those faces muck rake Yeah it's up on my TV screen Talking heads can spin it now Won't you tell me what it means" But rumour has it he may sing it a little different now and then
@KroniklyCanuck I was refering more to the average opinion from the states. They mostly believe we live in cabins, and drink maple syrup straight. Don't get me wrong, I like me a tall glass of tree sap, but I don't live in no stinkin cabin!
May i suggest checking out Rival Sons? I'm not spamming, simply spreading the good word of rock n' roll from one brother to another. I found the Sheepdogs through them.
@loptop50 and a lot of other great bands...sometimes a little CCR,The Dead, Allman Bros, maybe even a little of the Band...lots of comparisons being made... these guys sure have a strong honest sound...they're channeling some righteous stuff in their own way and on their own terms.
@34lespaul I give them credit for doing something that hasn't been done in a while, but it's still been done. I'm a musician and a "breath of fresh air" is something new that I've never heard before and makes me want to play. This just doesn't do it for me (IMOHO). I can see the appeal for the older crowd who get to pick up where they left off years ago, or the younger crowd that hasn't heard it before. But...it's definitely a personal taste thing and we are ALL entitled. ROCK!!!
If you guys like The Sheepdogs, feel free to check us out as well. We're another Canadian band from Toronto, also trying to bring back Rock N' Roll. We're a little harder but you might like it. Let us know what you think, Thanks!
Me and my buddy seen them play in Sackville, New Brunswick to about 10 people and we were looking at each other going "Why the F*** are these guys not playing in front of hundreds?" They blew us away.....and I am not surprised they made it....I was really happy for them when I saw them on MTV.

I saw these guys in concert in Victoria B.C. by accident, someone handed me tics, fell in love in about 1.3 seconds.
My band is called Weiner dogs
These guys probably don't even know how famous they are about to become. Them and the Black Keys are, i hope, the resurrection of real music. These guys really got a good The Who sounds.

These guys are sick. Finally, a new band I like. Doesn't happen very often
I saw them playing yesterday..these guys are awesome ...reminded me of my fav band Lynyrd Skynrd ...Sounthern country rock...just great...
This is the luckiest damn audience! I can only imagine Ewan has done hundreds of these little gigs around Saskatchewan growing up.. wish I could've been there for some of them!!

I've just recently discovered these guys -- good stuff! And the nod to Bowie around 3:11 is a nice touch.

They just played Area 506 on August 4th. Outstanding set of tunes. These guys were great, back in 2015 when I saw them at Casino NB. They were even better this time around. Fantastic. High energy. Skilled artists. Crowd loved them. Pretty sure they were digging the crowd also.
Nothing better than honest rock .... a few hairy blokes tapping into the great flow ..... nice..!!

This song is stuck in my head, I like it. The guy on bass reminds me of Gary Rossington of Skynyrd.

all new but fantastic to hear rock and roll and no teenage anguish involved ~~~!!!
Musique is kewl.

You should also check out Monster Truck. They recently toured with The Sheep Dogs. Another awesome up and coming Canadian group, who incidentally turned me onto The Sheep Dogs.

Another reason to move to Canada.
Are you implying that we have built a time machine and that you don't? Because that's the only way we'd be 50 years behind you guys.

Southern style rock is the best. my favorite
Play guitar!
They're good........but I've heard it all before.....like 40 years before. I'm gonna go put on some Allman Brothers vinyl and save $10...
If you guys like The Sheepdogs, feel free to check us out as well.
We're another Canadian band from Toronto, also trying to bring back Rock N' Roll.
We're a little harder but you might like it. Let us know what you think, Thanks!
