- This was my last major match of the year to close out my competition season.
Whew, day 1 turned into one of the ugliest days of shooting I’ve experienced in a long time. Mental and visual mistakes were made and my overall performance just was very foggy.
I ended the 1st day with 130pts in penalties and 157 total match points behind. I didn’t believe it would even be possible to claw my way out of this hole.
Day 2 and 3 turned into two of the most brilliant days of shooting I’ve ever had and I was able to make a HUGE pull to having one of the best comeback performances ever!
Alas, I made up a ton of ground but fell just .9 of a point short of taking the overall win over my hero Rob Leatham.
It stings just a touch, but I’m not disappointed in my days 2&3 performance…at all!
Just wish I hadn’t shot so poorly on day 1 and I wouldn’t have been in that position in the first place!
Thank you to all my supporters and shooting family for giving me the inspiration and confidence to not give up!
Lots of adjustments and personal training direction changes in preparation for next year!

Good job recovering ! SS the the toughest division to master IMO. I shoot mostly CO. Pulled out my 9mm 1911 recently after a long lay off and shot an IPSC Classic match - wasn’t pretty lol !

Hey Tim, sorry for commenting on an old video, but I wanted to ask about your magazine release technique. I’m also a left handed shooter, and have avoided Single Stack, and 1911’s in general, because they don’t have a reversible magazine release. Does your gun have a custom right side release, or do you use your index finger to drop the mags?
Hey! Thanks for the question! I utilize my trigger finger/index finger to actuate the mag release
@@TimHerronShooting Wow, thanks for the quick response! You’ve earned a sub lol. Do you use that same technique for a carry gun/ other guns that you shoot? I feel like going back and forth between a right and left sided mag release could negatively impact your performance
@@themoose4674 I actually use the same technique for all of my pistols. I’ve tried switching to an ambi safety on other pistols and kept going back to actuating with my trigger finger. It just works best and most consistent for me

I chose to shoot .45 major for Area 2. I’ll actually return to shooting minor for most of next year
This is perfect evidence of the “I won’t quit today, I will quit tomorrow” mindset. Great job not giving up on Day 2 or Day 3. All came down to the last round. That’s what champions do! Proud of your performance!

That shooting is pretty unrealistic. The rules should make you start with an unloaded and safe gun like when you are concealed carrying.
