Yes! Exactly. It seems like a no brainer and not that I think DnDBeyond needs more money, people would buy more sets of digital dice if they could show them off. Thanks for watching!
I have been searching for really good content covering Maps and your channel fits the bill! Great job on the videos. I will take a look at others on your channel. Keep up the great work!
My main question is scaling, some maps from books have different scales for their squares and i do know players that like to play as large/huge characters or larger. How intuitive is balancing scale?
Great question! You can scale the map right now at creation to make sure your tokens will fit a 1" = 5' scale (or whatever you need the scale to be) but as of now, you can not adjust the size of the tokens on the fly. You would need to create a separate token and give your player control of that. Almost like a companion. That is great suggestion though. I will provide feedback. You should too. The more feedback they get on a feature the better! Thanks for watching!
Thanks for watching. Yes, for sure. You can upload custom maps. For example, there are a set of custom maps the Eve of Ruin campaign and I have uploaded a replacement for almost every map. You can upload new maps and scale the maps to a 1" = 5' grid (or other if you choose). It is very easy and intuitive.
Really informative vid! I have players that have 10 round auras like the Unicorn totems. Is there any way to lock the aura to the background? Me and the players keep accidentally grabbing it when moving tokens.
Thank you! I am not aware of a way to lock a shape you a token, but that is a great idea. I would definitely leave feedback on that. Maybe they can get that into the alpha or beta testing g
Is there a compelling reason to switch from Roll20 to Maps on DNDBeyond? My group is currently using Roll20, but especially with the new 2024 rulebooks coming out, we're wondering if now is the time to switch and get the new rulebooks on DNDBeyond, use Maps now, and potentially make the transition to the 3D VTT when that is released.
For me right now, if you are happy with Roll20 I would not change to MAPS yet, as much as I like it. It still being in the alpha stage, it does not have many of the built on features yet that Roll20 has. I think it will get there, and for me and my players it works (in person and online combination) That said, once Sigil is released and we really get to dig into it (ProgressiveDnD will be doing indepth analysis and live stream testing of it) it looks like it will integrate with MAPS and that could be a big game changer. Thanks for the comments!
Yes! Me too. And I also want to see the 3d dice. The latest up does at least acknowledge that it is not there yet, so at least it sounds like they are think about the 3d dice. Encounter creator does seem like a natural fit to run the combat tracker as well.
Hey man I see the video of your channel “ how to make war On D&D “ ,I really like the tools used on the video but I cannot find them , you guys can tell me the names of such tools ?
Maps looks very basic and will behind the other VTTs on the market (Roll 20, Foundry, Fantasy Grounds etc. With the war chest that Hasbro/WOTC have in hand, why don't they just acquire Foundry then get it to officially link to DnD Beyond (also an acquisition)? It would be such a massive level up and it would get away from WOTC continuing to think they can make software from scratch...something they have been trying for almost 25 years with very little success (remember the DnD 3.0 Character Generator?)
Not gonna lie, I like your thinking. However, I don't think that is a fair comparison since MAPS really is still in the alpha stages, so they have a long way to go. But an acquisition would be a quick way to level up their VTT game, pun fully intended. 😀 thanks for your comments
Wizards of the Coast can't help but mess up every opportunity given to them. I don't know why we even bother with them anymore. I stopped support a while ago..
My players and I agree. We want to be able to see other peoples dice roll on our screen. Crit animations especially!!!

Thank you! I am using MAPS every week for my campaign and will continue to provide my impressions as it continues to evolve. Thank you for watching!
Where is the feedback tab? - Has it been removed? I would like them to include adjusting HP for monsters while tracking combat.
That would be great. With the beta release they moved the feedback over to the right hand side of the screen.

Can you put your own maps on there?

I really want it to merge with the encounter creator

Who is giving them an opportunity to create an alpha testing stage map utility? 🤔 I use it every week and the continued improvements keep me using it.
