Heber Half: Wellll... Now what?

  • Oops! We messed up and accidentally hit our sub 2 hour goal 4 weeks early. In our defense, this course was extremely steep downhill, so it was easy to fly down it. A little too easy actually, our joints were feeling it after. We aren't sure we can replicate the sub 2 hour on a less steep course, so we plan to keep up with the training plan, and see if we can do it again. After all, a study isn't accurate unless it's repeatable, right??

Sub 2 baby 💥💪👌 Absolutely smashed it both. Doesnt mattter the course. Your legs still have to run it 👊

Thanks Stu! Our legs felt it the next day for sure.. never been sore like that after a race.

This was my first half marathon. Was totally wrecked but got sub 2 by 1 minute! Was a sprint to the finish for sure.
I did do packet pick up morning of the race and that went pretty smoothly.

That’s awesome! We were probably running close to each other then. Those hills were brutal! And good to know packet pickup the morning of was smooth. It’s always stressful to not know for sure, so helpful to have someone confirm. Maybe we will try that for the next one.

It’s changed so much since I’ve been there last. But it was a very fun run!

It was an amazing course. One of the prettier ones in my opinion.

Thanks! We where so sore after, just based on that virtue, I think we will take it :)

Looks like you got some cool video of the course. I'd do more of Runtastic races but they often make getting their bibs hard. I wouldn't want to drive from SLC to Heber and back. I know a lot of my friends had fast times. Their Timp race is also regarded as very fast as well. I am doing Alpine Days 5k tomorrow, Pc2pg 10k next week and then Cedar city. You guys going to be at cedar City? Cool video and I love seeing the progression of your videos.

We are not doing cedar city, we will have to look for it next year. I don’t know what the Pc2pg is? Good luck on the 5k! And totally agree with the bin pick up. We drive two hours each way for pick just to get home.. eat dinner then feel like we had to go back. We have decided if anything is at the 2 hour drive distance in the future we might look at staying there bs all the driving.

@@UtahRunning Pc2pg is put on by onhillevents. It is Provo canyon to pleasant grove. They have a 5k, 10k and half marathon. I am doing the 10k. That's a lot of driving for a race to get your bib and such. Wish Runtastic had a mail option or multiple days to pick it up in Salt Lake or their offices in American fork. I am doing Runtastics Halloween 5ks as well

Ah gotcha. That sounds like a good event. I’ll have to look for those in the future as well. I signed up for the Halloween half in immigration canyon this year. Maybe we will bump into you there. Stacie will be around as she isn’t running that one.

@@UtahRunning cool. Usually I hang around long enough after the race to see many of the half marathon runners finish
