Jericho has fallen out of my top 10 since AEW. Not because he's gotten silly, but because he's gotten sloppy. It was a slow descent down from the top 3, but I had to let it go when he gave MJF the signal for the low blow on the leg that was towards the camera at Blood and Guts. Kane and Stone Cold are tied for my favorite. Just pure childhood nostalgia. And I agree 100% about how Kane's character perfectly walked the tightrope between being a monster and being a sympathetic character. It gave his character a lot of complexity. Seemingly cursed from birth to be evil, yet showing himself, through many different saves and rescues, to be a loyal friend and protector of the weak.

TBH if we canceled every wrestler who has conservative or right wing political views, we’d be canceling, like, 3 out of every 4 wrestlers. That’s the main reason why I don’t really let their views on issues outside the ring affect what I think of them inside the ring.
With that said, I’m pretty happy with Brian picking Jericho as his number one. In over twenty years of watching him as a fan, he has never failed to be entertaining and unlike other wrestlers doesn’t rely on age-old gimmicks and catchphrases to get over. He’s evolved with the times and there aren’t a whole lot of wrestlers out there who are so great all-around, both in-ring and on the mic. If meme culture was around in the Attitude Era, he would have had so many memeable moments, and even now he is still making memeable moments. Man of 1004 Holds, Y2J, The List, The Pain Maker, Le Champion/Demo God…he’s still getting over after all these years.

MY personal top 8 in no particular order:
Scott Steiner: the promos. Not just the funny ones but the serious too. He made you believe on the mic and in the ring
Kurt Angle: One of the best ever in the ring and absolutely hilarious when need be
The Rock: I'm a child of the Attitude Era. Great athlete. Best ever on the mic
    Austin: not gonna "outsmark" myself
Charlotte: Best female of all-time at this pace if not already. Exceptional in ring and on the mic
Goldberg: This is my subjective favorites. I still remember EXACTLY where I was sitting at 5 years old watching him beat Hogan on Nitro
Brock Lesnar: There's no one more believable than Brock. He's an attraction that you tune in for. They've helped that by keeping him distant and not around every week, like it or not
Vince Mcmahon: my most controversial but hear me out. Go watch the Michaels match. The selling, the facials, willingness to take big bumps. Rewatch the Hogan match. The scene of his blood covered shit eating grin face peaking up over the apron tells you everything you need to know about him as an in ring performer. Not to mention God tier mic work

    My top 8
    8. MJF - my current favorite heel in all of wrestling
    7. Goldust - his tag team with booker t was comedy gold and my favorite "odd couple" tag team of all time. Plus his movement is fuckin sick.
    6. Brock Lesnar - legitimately pants-shittingly terrifying in 2002/2003. Guy seemed so real, so legit. I remember feeling actual pity for his opponents before I found out wrestling is a work.
    5. Eddie Guerrero - seeing him beat Lesnar was biblical. The best David vs Goliath angle of all time. Eddie made me cry with his promos leading up to that match about his addiction.
    4. Edge - the heel of my teenage years, he was the asshole I loved to hate. Fucked over Matt Hardy, fucked over KANE. Do you have any idea how much of a piece of shit you have to be to make rapist impregnator Kane a sympathetic babyface?
    3. Daniel Bryan - his feud with the Authority was my favorite storyline in years. I kept watching every week to see him finally get his win. I haven't watched every week in years.
    2. Chris Jericho - if you looked up "consistency" in the dictionary you'd see a picture of Chris Jericho. Y2J can be in any position on the card and he's always entertaining. His work with CM Punk, Dean Ambrose and later Kevin Owens in WWE was some of the strongest stuff going on in the midcard to main event during that run. His stuff since leaving WWE has been a total Bowie-like reinvention. When he fought Omega at Wrestle Kingdom it was the most interesting thing in the world outside of WWE for me. And his joining AEW made me give that promotion a shot I might not have otherwise. And thanks to Jericho I've discovered so many other wrestlers in AEW that I wouldn't know otherwise.
    1. CM Punk - I was watching Raw during the new nexus storyline and I hated that punk was the leader of the new nexus. I felt it was beneath him and that it didn't make sense from a kayfabe perspective. Nexus was supposed to be all rookies fighting the system. They should attack an established superstar like Punk. I previously loved Punks feuds on smackdown with Rey Mysterio and Jeff Hardy and I wanted Punk to stay on smackdown as top heel. So when they paired him with the new nexus it felt like the Straight Edge Society pt. 2 electric Boogaloo.
Then came the pipe bomb. By that point I was a smart mark, and I followed the IWC. So I knew Punks contract was expiring and it was easy to predict where this was going. Punk was leaving to go back to ROH or go to Japan and he'd go out in his hometown staring at the lights. This had happened before with other people who were leaving. What was strange was WWE acknowledging that on TV. But whatever, probably throwing a bone to Punk since he was going to job at MITB. Then he cuts the pipe bomb and I'm stunned. He breaks every rule of kayfabe on live TV and then he goes over at the ppv!?!
By then I realized it was a worked shoot, but I was hooked. It got me back into wrestling in a big way and Punks 434 day reign was legendary. Since then I've lost a lot of respect for Punk as a person for his saltiness and bitterness, but that Summer of Punk was amazing and will always be amazing to me

    Here's my top eight.
    1) Edge. A man who has been able to do comedy, serious, face or heel. Been the daredevil in TLC and technical wrestling with so many. Edge was the first guy in wrestling I gravitated to who wasn't Rock or Steve Austin and I've always been a fan of his.
    2) Daniel Bryan. Basically a modern day Kurt Angle in a lot of ways that Brian said about Angle. He can do comedy. He can wrestle. He can be serious. He can play face and heel. Mania 30 will always be my favourite Mania moment of all time.
    3) Shawn Michaels. I missed Shawn's initial run but when he came back, he was the first real legend to come back who was a big deal and he was incredible. The man who only held one major world title the entire time I started being a wrestling fan? That's damn impressive. The man is tremendous and again can basically do it all. Who's your daddy Montreal!?
    4) The Miz. I respect Miz a lot. He's a gut who I hated at first but has become a major player in the WWE and goddamn it, I respect his work ethic. He's a natural heel but he does everything he's asked to do. Next to Cena, you could call Miz to do anything and he's do it.
    5) AJ Styles. For his back catalogue of Wrestling matches alone, AJ is in this list. The simple fact he did it in multiple companies for as long as he has is also a major accomplishment. The fact that he walked into 2 companies, knocked off their biggest stars in his first year and held their major titles? Says something for his talent.
    6) Alex Shelley. Shelley is such an underrated wrestler and while I love Chris Sabin as well. Shelley just has something else in his locker and that's his character. Paperazzi Productions with Kevin Nash? His stuff with Goldeylocks? Dude is funny and can work with the best of them.
    7) William Regal. Same as many people. The guy is as adaptable as they come. Heel? Done. Face? Done. Talker? Done. Wrestler? Done. He has an air of authority and respect to him but there is also a darkness there as well.
    8) Paul Heyman. Best manager of all time. At least in my time as a fan. Everyone he's with feels important because he's there.

8 - Ricky Steamboat Just so smooth in the ring. 7 - Ric Flair - In his prime, the best wrestler on the planet 6 - William Regal Entertaining out of the ring, a beast inside. The best wrestler to never hold a world title. 5 - Mick Foley - Could do it all. Great wrestler, stellar on promo and willing to kill himself for your entertainment 4 - Undertaker - Best big man of all time. 3 - AJ Syles an ungodly talent for wrestling. 2 - Vader (WCW) I still maintain he was the reason lots of folk still thought wrasslin was real. 1 - Kurt Angle The total package. Happy to play the Goof or the B'stard and, IMO the greatest wrestler of all time that didn't kill his family. Benoit & Thornton would have made the list but, well, we all know the stories.

"Goofball with a hero complex." Heh. I like that. Watching Kurt Angle was something special, and he's one of those guys that makes me prefer the "Ruthless Aggression" Era over the Attitude Era. As do Eddie Guererro, Brock Lesnar, Edge and Jericho, among others.
But on the Jericho front, he has dropped quite a bit with me because of some of his political antics I'm hearing about. Not cool.

I always struggle every time I make a list, but my favorite of all time is unquestionably Edge. When I got back into wrestling at the age of 12 it was the year after he first won the WWE Championship, so I got to see his absolute best years. I of course hated him as he was a heel, but was glued to the television any and every time he was on.
If I have to give a top 5, it’s Edge, Bret Hart, Stone Cold, Cody & Dustin Rhodes, and either Chris Jericho or Bryan Danielson.

  • @GrtSage
    @GrtSage 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    My Top 8
    1. Cm Punk, 2012 was my first year as a wrestling fan. I went along with the story of Punk. He was right to turn heel he was the WWE Champion and yet constantly got sidelined to Cena and Dwayne. His match with Cena on Raw for the Mania shot is my favorite TV Match. His feud with Paul Heyman was great and got even better when Lesnar showed up. Best vs the Beast is my favorite Summerslam Match ever. Him vs the Shield, Him vs the Wyatts both were solid. Him and Taker had the Deadman’s last solid Mania match. He was the best in the world for a reason and I respect that he walked when he felt the company didn’t respect him.
    2. Daniel Bryan, the Yes Heel Run, Team Hell No, Road to Yeslmania, His Comeback and later Heel Title Run. His eternal feud with Miz is great the two truly are polar opposites. Also The Dazzler and B. Dazzle.
    3. AJ Styles, he was the guy in TNA. He was the top performer in the company. Even though it was a carbon copy of Sting I loved Styles’ heel loner run before finally going back to the old Aj. I was shocked when he turned up in the Rumble and I’m still shocked that WWE put the title on him within that same year. His feud with Cena, Ambrose, and Joe were awesome even his feud with Nakamura was great even if it was too one sided and featured way to many nut shots. He is phenomenal.
    4. Edge, he was the top heel in the ruthless aggression era. Between the Matt Hardy stuff, smacking Cena’s dad, and using Vicky Guerrero he was an asshole that you wanted to see get his ass kicked. But then the bell rang and he’s give you match of the night no question. TLC with Cena, Mania match with Taker, the Chamber Match he wasn’t even suppose to be in. He had the most emotional comeback in wrestling and I love his feud with Roman and his “heel” turn on Daniel for interfering with his last shot.
    5. Cody Rhodes, the Rhodes vs Authority angle was great. I respect that the man went out there and made a name for himself on the Indies and NJPW and is now one of the leaders of AEW. His undeniable promo got me in tears. I like his TNT Title Run and his feud with Brody Lee. Cody and Dustin did the old man proud.
    6. Eddie Guerrero, looking back on his work he is awesome. His redemption story against Lesnar was emotional. Him and Benoit hugging it out will always be a top tier Mania moment.
    7. Usos, They are the best tag team of the modern era. Their heel turn was awesome. And their current storyline with Roman is amazing.
    8. Matt Hardy and Bray Wyatt, Two Words. CHARACTER WORK.

    2: Scott Hall

My all-time favorite wrestler is Edge. I am the world's biggest WCW fan, and yet Edge made me tune into WWE more often back in 1998 as his "Tortured Soul" gimmick was so cool to me. Silent, coming through the crowd, and his look.
When March 26, 2001 happened, I came SO close to stopping watching wrestling completely. But I loved Edge so much, I kept watching to see him.
While I stopped watching religiously in June 2008, I still watch every PPV, and sometimes weekly if the storyline is captivating enough (Summer of Punk 2011 anyone?).
Thanks Edge!!! Oh and most importantly of all.... WCW for Life!!!

I love the authenticity of this list and how it truly is your favorite and not just a "best" list trying to be objective. Wrestling is totally subjective and with that being said I'd like to give my top 8 list here now
    8. Raven
    7. Daniel Bryan
    6. Mark Henry
    5. Finlay
    4. Kurt Angle
    3. Chris Jericho
    2. Kenny Omega
    1. The Undertaker

I love seeing people in the comments talking about their favourite wrestling, so much love and passion for people who they find so much enjoyment for. I got back into wrestling because of Okada and because of his work I’m grateful that I’m a wrestling fan again. :)

I definitely have Kurt on my list of favourite wrestlers. I've never sat down to rank them, but others include Big Show, Raven, DDP, Booker T, Nick Aldis, Trevor Murdoch, Batista, and Eddie Edwards.

Solid list. I def got Kurt up there and booker T. Also AJ Styles. Helped me fall in love with wrestling even more when I found TNA as a 10 year old
