    Thaaaanks for this. I will be starting next month at PwC as Tax Analyst. Hopefully, CPA exams would push through next year. 😇

    Just found out your channel and absolutely love your videos. I am from waterloo Ontario and just finished 3rd year of my accounting undergrad and I am also leaning towards tax. After my 2nd year I was confused between audit and tax but now that I have only one year left I would want to work in tax after graduating 😊😇

    I have worked in the big4 and other corporate places, been qualified since 2014. It is a very stressful career, so be prepared to work long hours with high levels of stress. If you don't like that, accounting isn't for you.

      what makes it stressful ? difficult work or just the long hours? or something else ?

    • @pinoyconyoo8068
      @pinoyconyoo8068 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@JaneParkerBowls It would depend if the stress is an internal or external factor. For some, the engagement team is toxic (e.g. review notes in the hundreds, minimal to no interaction with the seniors and/or managers, micromanaging approach by some managers), the client is horrible (client is hesitant to provide supports, TB's are in the pdf format, long hours on substantive testing (documenting leadsheets, and inquiring with the client to further explain the amounts behind the leadsheets, enhancing prior year wkp that were made horribly, the account tested is complex [restoration costs, derivatives(call options, forwards, futures), Loan receivables with impairment(this needs constant follow ups with the senior manager and client), Substantive analytical for rent(IFRS 16), FAFVOCI), or the staff and senior has gone AWOL, so everyone absorbs their allocations and most of the time, the team IS UNDERSTAFFED (I did a work that should ideally be done by a staff and a senior - Materiality planning). Honestly, for me, the PCAOB OE testing is THE WORST, understanding and documenting the controls behind requires in-depth understanding although mapping and establishing the control attributes are interesting. However, do not be intimidated by what I said. Yes, it is stressful but it is somehow a good stress since it really develops our skills and so much growth is involved.

    thanks, Gabrielle! The information is really helpful for me. I just have one question for you: have you ever regret that you did not try the audit side? As a student, I really want to know what to pick, Audit, or Tax. Also, what if I choose the audit role for my CFE?

    Hi Gabrielle I work in a big 4 for U.S taxation , just wanted to know how can I grow in my career I mean apart from all the qualitative aspects, whether to go for EA or CPA, EA is very economical to do but CPA is very expensive 4 times the cost of the EA, so I am confused whether CPA would be a better thing to do or is just EA suffiecient, it would mean a lot if you can reply to me, thanks 😊
