Nathan's is the film version, Spencer's is the radio version. Both are great for different reasons. I'm partial to Cinematic music, so I vote Nathan. But Spencer did a great job too.
This. It would really depend on what the goal for the song was. Skywolf's version sounded like the real song, Nathan's was like a remix for cinematic use. Way to go, Spencer!!!
So, to be honest, Skywolf is far from an amateur producer. He is a ringer, LOL. darn! If he is an amateur, then I am nothing. 😃 but both versions are great in my book.
The structure and beats are better in the skywolf’s version, but it lacks the punch, the voice has too much reverb, and the percussion could have been more polished. The overall sound and instrument selection are better in Nathan’s version, but for the opening part of the song, I prefer skywolf’s version. If the two versions were combined, it would make a perfect song in my opinion.
Great job to both of you, but Nathan’s just had the depth and energy throughout and also the clarity of vocals. The drum additions with cymbals and various crashes works well. But SkyWolf’s string medley between verses was really catchy! Great job. I’m a new member of the producer community and hope to do a battle one day too! In fact my friend is willing to give her vocals :) She’s a recording artist.
Comment what your fave is!! Thanks Sky Wolf for taking it on! Let's make sure we keep the comments respectful - this is for fun and not to trash people on either side. Thanks ya'll for checking it out! If you wanna check my full track you can do that right here: open.spotify.com/track/6aubPcLkTePaZ27bWumiga?si=72044db7ee204857
Nathan, u make every detail pop up and it feels so relaxing to press the play button when a notification comes up about a Vs battle , why can't u guys make music videos hahaha out of this, these edits from simple melodies should be made into real music songs ,wow, thanks a lot guys, thanksss, and thanks BTW
Nathan, you should've seen how fast I clicked on this video. It's been a bit since your last VS vid, Love these!! These are so inspiring, you both absolutely nailed it!!
Wow! These both sound great! Listening to what they were laying down in the beginning had me thinking I would like Nathan's version better, but when it came down to it, I like Spencer's the best. Great job to both of you!
Both were very well done!! However, I feel Nathan’s music sounded like a medieval battle with a modern voice so it seemed like they didn’t go together. But as far as producing music, it was epic! Just the voice/vocals didn’t go with the music. Sky Wolf’s music was a modern, intense story that went perfectly with the vocals. I got chills listening to the intense story! Thanks for the video! It was fun watching both guys’ reactions!
Both were really good. Nathan’s slightly better. I think both sounded like Bond (007) theme/intro songs. I really dig adding cinematic flare to regular music, though some feel it goes too “theme-ish”.
I like both versions but IMHO Nathan's was more to my liking. I love all of the different elements he incorporated into the song. Very well done guys!! Much ❤️ Nathan!!
I’m a singer/songwriter myself and I like the amateurs version way better his instrumental structure and arrangement was in sync with the singers melodic vocal delivery ! nathan’s version was ok but it sounded like reverb overload way too much !
Love SkyWolf's production. Only wish that the vocals sat in a similar space as the instruments, it felt like there was a slight disconnect, though that could be me. Very alt-pop and ear catching. The string melody was amazing as well. Nathan's production was much more full, and I loved the dramatic hits and suck-ins. The high strings in the second half of the chorus were beautiful. Both had really cool vocal production ear candies and effects
Aww thanks man I appreciate it! This was my first song on Logic. But I started mixing music on my phone about 6 years ago and then within the last 8 months switch to the computer set up on GarageBand, and then since Christmas switched to Logic!
This sounds super fun I mostly do instrumental cinematic and film music (done a few remix contests) but I would actually like having some vocals to work with.
that was nuts, i probably would have put the verse lines on the downbeat just like sky wolf. Didn't hear your rhythm at all. That's a sick way you put it together.
Mad vibes on both I found that skywolfs was lacking on percussion and also could have been more back ground elements to make the track feel more full. Yours was insane those strings were dope love the trap beat too both very good productions.
Hi there! I have a video request about Landr. I can't seem to add Landr to my Master Bus/Mixer properly and would appreciate a small video that shows the processes of sharing audio and video playback for the person on the other side of the planet. Thanks! There isn't one video out there that I can find.
Good evening Nathan, your videos have been a great guide to my journey of producing however as I've been on this road I've always needed a strong direct opinion from pro such as yourself and was hoping somehow if I could send you some stuff and you can give me some pointers I'd appreciate that. Once again thank you so much for the videos!
I'd have to say, Nathan's percussion is exactly what I had in mind when first hearing the vocals. I feel like Sky's time signature is what made his mix sound amateur. Sky's percussion could have used some serious beefing up but nevertheless, a standard drum kit would have been fine had he not used a 4/4 time signature when doing so.
Hey thats absolutely incredible ! I was thinking, where did you learn to produce like that? Does it come over time, like by producing music weeks after weeks ? Do you have any tips for this?
I have been doing this about 15 years - worked at a studio for a while too... but I learned most on my own. My channel has well over 100 videos teaching this stuff ;)
@@NathanJamesLarsen Okay thank's I'll check it !! By the way, i was asking myself, is it better to record real instruments when possible or to just use VST? It's pretty hard for example to mix a recorded bass for me... Same for a guitar. It just sounds better with plugins.
LOVE THIS!!!! YOU BOTH WERE AMAZING!!! ALSO I AM A MUSICIAN (MUSIC PRODUCER/DRUMMER) AND I ALSO HOPE I CAN ALSO GET A CHANCE WITH YOU! I WILL LEARN A LOT FOR SURE!!😃
That topline was not great, to be mild. Nathan's version won imho. The "not pro'-vertsion wasn't able to grab my attention and take me along. It kinda bored me. Nathan's choices - musical and sound wise - were more logic and he also had the better approach with the timing of the vocals...
- i cant listen to Nathan's version on high volume hhis time. Its not "comfortable" sound at all this time. - Spencer did fantastic job, his version is much more intresting and has much more energy and.. taste.
The comparison between amateur/pro is a bit embarrissing. A battle about music is ridiculous.Musik is just taste. The mainstre taste is for so calledbpros.
I’m with the other guy’s version, the voice forward two quick beats later. It’s much more commercial and I prefer her voice. I’d say he used an auto tune and better use of reverb
Thanks so much for this opportunity Nathan! Hopefully we can do more in the future!
Great job!!
You nailed it buddy 🔨😎
I loved it! Keep up the good work.
loved the song
Love it
what is that strings vst? i loved it :)

I definitely agree
This. It would really depend on what the goal for the song was. Skywolf's version sounded like the real song, Nathan's was like a remix for cinematic use. Way to go, Spencer!!!
This! There is a difference of cinematic vs radio and leaning more towards cinematic myself, I agree. Both did great though. 🤍🎶
@@MusicnewswithKat of course. There is skill in both worlds to be acknowledged.
Spencer, absolutely INCREDIBLE JOB! You’ve come a long way from producing on your phone! I’m impressed man. 🙌🏽
Hey, thanks so much! Really appreciate you!
What’s also really cool is when I saw you do yours with Nathan it inspired me to do it! Now a year and a half later I am!

I would like to do something like this with🤗
This is so amazing both projects/songs just show why people need to start appreciating the producers behind such songs. They bring that song to life.
Nathan, don't worry about losing your job, but keep looking over your shoulder!

Ah man that is great. thanks so much!
Thank you Nathan for giving beautiful content ❤
Well done both of you! I love this series!
This content is awesome! What a great idea to produce two versions of the same song. Nicely done!
Love your sound selection man ❤❤❤💯
Seriously, you went super hard on this. I could see the shock on his face as he begin to listen to yours…and then it turned into a beautiful smile.
Nathan you're production's great....jaw dropping:)
Nathan aimed for the Bond style flavour with the strings. was so beautifully mixed too.
Two truck are different with each other and cool but orchestral virtion fully match with vocal i love it.
Love it! Both of you guys are awsome. Please post more EPIC BATTLEs 🙌

OMG!!! Sky u did a great job for an amateur
Hey Sky Wolf, you don’t sound like an amateur to me!! I’m impressed, I vote Sky👍🏼

i liked the amatuer version better. it just needed a little tweaking sonically, but it was more interesting.
I like Sky Wolf version
Nathan you won for sure 👏 🙌
Dudes this is very fun! Would love to see you tackle a rock track!
Sky wolf is no longer an amateur producer
He really did a great job

incredible work fellas
These were both awesome!
As soon as I heard the voice I imagined a massive Melodic/Dubstep track

Nathan for some reasons just turned his own track louder in this video. :)
Uh no I did not - it's just actually louder cause of how I produced/mixed/mastered. I did absolutely not volume adjustment on his song or mine.
