I think the subs have a mistake, they bought the house at october 2024, just two weeks before the end of SAO, and the time of this movie is in April of 2026, that makes it one year and a half, not two and a half
I believe it's likely to be because people read the light novels. I can only speak for myself but when an anime comes out and I am interested then I'll go buy the novels instead of waiting for a second season. It usually takes ages before an anime actually catches up to their source material, so the books are often the best way of experiencing it rather than watching part of the story, then waiting for a year or two and repeat the process!

As someone who once lost months of my memory and still being incapable of remembering anything but the smallest and foggiest details from that time I can tell you that something like this happening is a nightmare. You essentially wake up one day and realise that you have no idea what has happened in your recent past, you start to panic and then you go through the painful process of trying to peace your life back together from second-hand descriptions. It's not the most pleasant thing to have happen, even if the memories you lost were likely very painful!
No forgetting about meeting kirito isn't as fortunate, as forgetting the moments on death game because that what makes his memories special, the bad memories which inhances the good memories with him

Her memories with Kirito, how they first met, how they 'got married', their promises and how they got out of the game were important to her. These are nothing like forgetting what you had for dinner etc. Try and compare these two: forgetting which pair of socks you wore a week ago VS forgetting the precious days you spent with someone you love dearly (parents/siblings/significant other). Do you think these two carry the same weight? If you watch the movie, you'll understand more why forgetting that specific timeframe was breaking Asuna apart. :)

Basically in Cordial Chords, Eiji surrendered himself to the police after what he did. Because Kirito couldn't stop thinking about Eiji (and also due to witnessing a glitch of possibly White Yuna asking for his help), he went to see Eiji at the station. Thinking that White Yuna could still be inside the old SAO, both of them logged into it and revisited the very place Yuna died in Aincrad (with Yui's help). There they found a glitched Yuna and Yui further explained that Yuna would need memories to be 'fixed'. Remember the jar that was filled with marbles of memories, one that Yuna collected in Ordinal Scale? Eiji gave that to the glitching Yuna, to which White Yuna (you can say it's an actual ghost of Yuna) thanked Eiji for. White Yuna disappeared, while the new copy of Yuna with memories now intact was fully repaired. In the end, the two became friends. Kirito came to understand Eiji and Eiji (who regretted everything he did) believed he owed Kirito for saving 'Yuna' (a new AI avatar with old Yuna's memories). Thus why Eiji came back to save Kirito and well, Yuna is still around, so she didn't technically 'disappear'. As to why he's beaten up, PoH himself was so powerful that even others had a hard time dealing. Besides, if Eiji were to inflict more damage, it would've affected the plot greatly. Also, the reason why he was such a badass in Ordinal Scale was because he had the exoskeleton/suit on. There are more backstory and details to Eiji and Yuna, and why their appearance in EP17 is indeed possible. It's hype for the Sao fans back then, and mostly the animation is top notch
