289 with a C4 or AOD would make you a nice cruiser. You don't want nothing to radical if you want it reliable for vacations. Those 289 / 302 are about bullet proof engines. 😎
@t-rodzgarage your right about that I ran a 302 for a long time in my old 74 maverick and my mom had a ford pickup she drove for like 8 years straight with a 289 super reliable and simple
That is awesome! Get it going and we can meet up somewhere!
Man that thing is sweeeet!
Nice. And great sound in the background 😉
@olafsoldtimer thanks, gotta love that old school diesel sound right?
My Father owned a 56 Montclair. 312 big cam and glass packs. As a kid I loved hearing that Y block at full song.

Simple and cool! 289?
Keep the Y-Block if possible. They are great engines.
Your welcome
@warrenashley7201 sure enough one of the coolest cars we've ever had aside from the 42 caddy and 51 hudson this may be #1
put the 289 in you will get good mileage with plenty of power
@williamlovely450 that's what I was thinking, 289 with the aod
Hang 10 daddy-o. Nice score.
