My euphoria now is the Malazan,I just finished the gardens of the moon and started the dead house gates! Woooooow! What a scope! Epic legendary masterpiece ❤️
My favourite read for Q4 which I was not expecting was a YA book; A Deadly Education by Naomi Novik. From my understanding from reviews, it's the weakest of the trilogy. I went into it thinking it would be just a bit of fun but I inhaled that book because I really enjoy the story, the concept, I ended up enjoying the style of prose of being in the MC's thoughts so much. I'm looking forward to reading the second book this year! Also, I will be adding some Kristoff books TBR 😊 you've convinced me to give it a go and seeing how I'm enjoying The Gallant, it's time to try another recommendation of yours
@@avizenko I do have to try some Novik books, I’m glad you had a great time with it. Did you decide to start with Empire of the Vampire??? Also, I’m very happy you are enjoying The Gallant
@SpacedOutReads That was my first one from Novik. Once I finish the trilogy I'm going to try her other books too! Yes Empire of the Vampire is the first one I'm going to start off with!!
I only read 7 novels and 1 short story in Q4, but my rankings would be: 1. Fitz & the Fool 3: Assassin's Fate 2. Fitz & the Fool 2: Fool's Quest 3. Wars of Light & Shadow 3: Warhost of Vastmark 4. Earthsea 4: Tehanu 5. Memory Sorrow & Thorn 3: To Green Angel Tower 6. Hell is the Absence of God / Ted Chiang 7. Memory Sorrow & Thorn 2: Stone of Farewell 8. The Ritual / Adam Nevill I did read comics as well, but I don't track those as thoroughly as I do novels.
I didn’t have many standout reads in Q4. But two that were definitely winners were: Chanur’s Homecoming by CJ Cherryh - excellent conclusion to the trilogy Pioneers by Phillip Mann - another great story by Mann that is about more than just what the plot suggests A geeky Q: what did you use for this tier ranking? It has the look of something done in PowerPoint/keynote but I haven’t seen any components in them that do the sorting and self sizing support that I saw in this video
@@ButOneThingIsNeedful Demon in White book 3 was the second best book I read last year, Kingdoms of Death book 5 was the third and I loved Ashes of Man and Howling Dark too. I’m book 1 the author shows he’s a good writer, but we don’t find the plot as a reader till book 2. I liked book 6 too
Im so happy u read the entire greenbone saga though ! :D Gotta read Robin Hobb someday !!! :D Empire of the Damned is a different beast here,so so good and Kristoff said Empire of the Empire is gonna be much more epic and have a much better climax lol, can't wait ! :D FURY OF THE GODS ! @@noname3609 Me too, Hilo’s story was so good and Legacy kicks ass!! You definitely need to get on to Hobb, not that you’ll necessarily long her work’s. But she’s incredible at what she does and if it gives with you, there’s so many great reads to be had. Can’t wait for more Kristoff!! I think it’s just a “me” thing with Fury, for the reasons I explained, but I’m very happy the majority loved it!! And it’s still something I recommend
@@noname3609 I guess it is kind of a compliment to Gwynne, his other nine books are all done to such a high standard that for Fury, despite being good, expectations have been a bit high. It’s still a good book, just not his best
My plan in Q1 is to read the final (😩) sub-series in the Realm of the Elderlings. I’m so sad that it’s gonna be over for me. I also plan to start the First Law series AND the Sun Eater series.
@@shadowoflugia Fuck Yes! Hobb, Abercrombie and Roucchio!!! You are going to have the best Q1 for reads, very sad, specially finishing off Hobb and books 4&5 of Sun Eater, but those authors are the best!!!
@ I finished my second reread of Assassin’s Apprentice last night, and while I did like the book the first time, I LOVED IT my second time through! I think I’ll go straight into Fitz and the Fool soon instead of continuing the reread.
Regarding your dislike of mixing magic and science… the Dandelion Dynasty series (dunno if you’ve read it?) kind of does this (mixing them together, I mean). I mean, it’s considered fantasy and not science fiction at all, but it felt much more like science instead of magic. But I thought it was super well done and loved every aspect of the magic/science system.
I wish I was a faster reader, or at least someone who could read multiple books at once. I'm at like a book a month so usually one series (Sun Eater) takes up most of my year lol.
@lofilazy I consider myself a slow reader as well so u are not alone. One thing that helped me read more books was putting the phone down and tv off. I read about 50 pages a day (2 hours worth) Not great but enough to get through one fantasy book and a couple mysteries/horror/thriller books each month.
