Having lived on a boat late 80s to mid 90s probably the reason for the diesel stove is that diesel fumes are lighter than air. This is important when inside the boat because these fumes will float up and out as opposed to pooling down in the bilage and potentially going boom! I had propane stove but that entailed an electronic solenoid at the source (the source being stored in an outside (top side) vented space because like gasoline propane gas will sink and pool. Notice that your gas tanks are outside topside so as to provide for the fumes to get out and keep you safe. I had a jon boat with a 9.9 on that boat back in the day and the gas was stored outside (protected) and topside, the main engines and generator was diesel. Nice mini Yatch you got there, I moved from Miami to Panama City about 10 years ago and since it gets cold up hear that little diesel stove can probably do more than cook, it can be a heater more than likely that was part of the appeal in Alaska. They say "Time is money" ask an old rich guy in ICU dying if he would give you all his money to have a few more years of good health to live to enjoy? You live in time, life is to be experienced. Thanks Lee! Yes, I think you could. The main drawback for these boats are in rough weather you need to slow down. Other than that, fuel capacity might be an issue if you venture to far.
@@TripSmith Your boat has a good amount of glass windows so a lot of light will come it. Tint should help keep it cooler in the cabin during the hotter days of summer. I have to replace the glass on my fore hatch over the vberth and im going darker for this very reason. In fact I plan to go darker on all my portlights. What sort of storage is available under the salon floor? For some "creature comforts" maybe add a solar panel on the roof and a small battery bank with an inverter charger.
None under the center floor but there is some under the seats and the floor between them under the table. I would like to have solar panels eventually.
@@TripSmith Reason I was thinking under the center floor was keeping the CG as low and as balanced as possible If you haven't thought of it already, since the batteries for this upgrade would be inside the salon, do _NOT_ go with any of the lead acid varieties. I think you have to add the diameter of the propeller to those 8" draft in order to be safe and some 12" more for safe clearance, just to prevent absorbing sand and mud in the engine's cooling system or to prevent fouling the propeller in overgrown weed. Of course, excluding unusual or unexpected situation. Just saying.
Yes, the motor does add to the draft. But for beaching and things like that I refer to the boats draft. The motor draft is ever changing from boat to boat and the boats trim so I don't think people refer to it much as a standard.
Well hey Tim!!! Did you see I used your webbing for my cargo net sleeping setup on the skiff? I can't wait for the first trip.... Good to hear from ya sir!
@@TripSmith if you need more just let me know. I pick up a small CC last year. Maybe we can hook up and do some offshore fishing. We killed it last summer.
Dory's are nice boats you are going to enjoy the overnights in it. I bought my 1st pilot house last year and love the overnight trips on the ocean! there is nothing like it. one of the 1st upgrades I did to my boat was a mounted camera system to catch all the good times. you may want to consider it. I always hated carrying go pros around. you always seem to miss the good stuff with them.
Don’t change out the headunit. That’s a fusion marine stereo. One of the better ones you can get. It has multiple zones if you want to run speakers outside the cabin at a different volume than inside. And the water resistance and build quality are nice on those.
Yea... but it doesn't even have bluetooth or a aux import lol So just radio jams is all it'll play. Unless you have a very old school ipod then it will go inside of it....
@@TripSmith haha wow that is old. I didn't realize they made one that didn't have bluetooth. I know you can purchase different adapters depending on what model phone or iPod you have to slide into the stereo. I haven't looked in years so not sure what generation iPhone it goes up to. But you have android anyway don't you? Swap it out for the Appolo then or Wet Sounds new headunit. The build quality on both is hard to beat.
I'm android but I'd want something that has bluetooth to have my phone nearby and not locked down. I'll check em out, still undecided on which ones to go with.
I'm sure you've found it by now, but if not... become a member of cbrats. There you will find tons of great information. Also!!!! By the vintage, I'm assuming you have the wallas 95d stove. You'll find it great when it works, especially in the winter for knocking off the winter chill. But they are cantankerous! It will become a love / hate relationship. You'll love the twins as well. Mine are honda 50's. Maneuvers can be amazing with them. Slip one in forward, one in reverse... and she'll turn a 180 in her own length. Welcome aboard.....these are some sweet little boats.
Oh yea, I've been on C-Brats for a bit now ;) I've already removed the Wallas.... Maybe I can sell it to someone or save it for the next owner, more about that in the next video. I'm actually thinking very hard about repowering with a single engine. These are 2003's and I'd appreciate the piece of mind of a newer outboard that I know has been well maintained. Plus I can save about 178lbs off the boat by moving to a Suzuki 90.... What do you think? Thank you! I'm very thrilled to have her.
@@TripSmith The question of the outboards remind me of the question, ford or Chevy! Man you'll find dozens of opinions leaning either way. If I were in your shoes, I'd run the 50's for a little while. They may grow on you! If they turn into a maintenance nightmare......swap them out for the single you are eyeing, which by the way is a great motor! My little 50's are 2004, carburetor which means I am not near as software / dealer dependent. It works for me, but not for everyone.

Yes, the motor does add to the draft. But for beaching and things like that I refer to the boats draft. The motor draft is ever changing from boat to boat and the boats trim so I don't think people refer to it much as a standard.
Buy jet. Drive. Ir airbat. Hover craft
You did your homework.
Tough,safe vessel those C-Dory's.
Well done!
I tried ;) Thanks!
very nice good luck with her
Thank you!
That is nice! I’m looking forward to some cool videos from it.
@@timrussell1476 Will do. Maybe so!
I agree Scott! I'll certainly be figuring out some sort of camera mounts around the boat ;)

Yes it's. More exis last oonger
Great boat.
How much does the boat go for if u dont mind me asking and where did u find it
Maybe in the 40k range these days. I found that one in Galveston Texas. C-Brats is the best place to look for them.
@@TripSmith thank you for the info ! Looks like a great boat! Just added it to my work at it list 😄
@@saltyryan8280 You're welcome! Got a video coming out about my boat more specifically soon 👍🏼. Work Hard?
@@TripSmith I am a watcher of your channel now for the past couple of years. Keep up the great work @ looking forward to watching more.
@@saltyryan8280 Well thank you so much for sticking around. No telling what the future might hold....
never heard of c-dory boats. how reliable are they?
Very reliable from what I've learned.
Nicely Done Trip! Welcome to the CD owners family . I’m such a proud owner , I’m so happy for you! Happy adventuring!
Thankya 'mam! I'm happy for you as well!
Nice boat. 👍🏻 Soon you and the family will be sailing the seven seas. 😎 God bless and have a Happy Easter.
Yes indeed! Happy Easter!
Chef twin 50 hp jeys
Congratulations brother.
Thankya sir!
Great Boat! See lots of them in the PNW. I'd check the rubber seals in the porta potty flusher, if it's been sitting so long. You'll Thank me later lol
I think she'll do great! Yea I need to check those lol
