Yup there’s a warehouse worker where I pick up loads as a truck driver that is covered in piercing and tattoos. I asked him if he had issues getting hired due to his appearance and he said they didn’t even ask. He does however say he can only get highly labor intensive jobs and wishes he didn’t go so far with piercings and tattoos

Personally, I can attest to not getting hired by retail stores just because I lack the experience as I tried doing that when I first went looking for a job. And then I just you know went for other places if retail wasn’t working out for me.

Yeah, I often see people with lots of tattoos, colored hair and piercings working in places like supermarket and other normal jobs, but like, all of them look like "normal" people, and none look like they sleep and a bunch of middle school students draw on they entire body

When my wife got her face tattoo her artist was weary to ink a persons face because he knew it could have lasting consequences like trying to find a job. He went over this with her making sure her work would not be compromised. Only when he was satisfied did he agree to do the face tattoo.
I totally respect him for doing that.
She could be a dishwasher. I walked into a restaurant, with tattoos, on a whim this week and got hired on the spot. Started working the next day, no resume and no application process. I just wanted a little fun money for my art supplies. It's a humble job and always needed in the industry.

As a heavily modified person lucky enough to have a livable wage job that I enjoy, you can't expect to be treated like any ordinary joe showing up with the amount of body jewelry and modification this person has. Even at my job, I am discriminated against by customers regularly; and I work in beauty, a generally more accepting of alternative people type community. It comes with the territory. I'm not saying it's right or justifiable to be treated differently for how I look; but at 28, I'm aware that it's GOING TO HAPPEN NO MATTER WHAT. If I didn't like it enough to care to change it, I'd have to make a tough decision: What do I want more, to express myself through how I look, or to be treated passively and ordinarily with the sort of privilege that it comes with to be socially traditionally conventional looking?
Another option for getting a job with tattoos is to be just really world-class. I've seen highly credentialed academic researchers with tattoos all over. Not an issue, because their employers can't afford to reject a top 10% in his job kind of guy that they headhunt in the first place.
If you try to get a basic service job where you can be replaced with literally anyone, the slightest issue means the other guy gets the job.

When my husband was a hiring manager at a tech company, he and the HR guy created a hypothetical person named “Spider Face.” How good would someone with a giant spider tat on their face have to be to get hired? There IS a level of expertise that gets Spider Face the job.

One thing i learned from interviews, dress professionally, no face piercings( my work allows tattoos even if they have demons or not featured in the tattoos).
Plus you actually have to do the work you’re hired for.
I think sometimes people do have a weird stigma against tattoos and it’s usually the older generation. I have tattoos personally but I haven’t got any on my face, neck or hands because I know that can affect my job prospects in the future. I live in the UK as well and people don’t really care much about tattoos in certain places and piercings as well as long as they’re not huge like hers is and not all over their face.

I own a dog walking company. While I am looking to add to my staff, if I came across her resume, and met with her in person, I’d reject her too. Dog walking is not just working with dogs- it’s dealing with people who live with said dogs. I’d stand to lose business as a small business owner if I hire someone with face tattoos. I say this as someone who has tattoos (easily covered up by clothes), and a small nose ring. On my days off I wear my big hoop, on my days when I meet new clients, it’s a tiny nearly invisible stud 🤷🏽♀️

As someone from Europe who has 13 tattoos (mostly on my left arm, three on my right arm, one on each side of my ribs and two on my left leg) thats absolutely not true about the assumption that getting a job here is easier even if you're heavily tattooed. I know I can't become a bank employee for example or work for some companies because I have tattoos, at the very least I'd have to wear long sleeve shirts that are not see-through in the slightest no matter the temperature. Thinking that moving to Europe will eliminate that problem is delusional😂😂
Two tips for teenaged/young people looking for jobs:
Volunteer at places and use that work experience on your resume. They don't care if the work experience is paid, they just care if it exists. And many organizations will let you volunteer from age 12 or so. So if you're applying at 16, that's roughly 4 years of work experience you can put on your resume. This can look like summer camps, food banks, pet shelters, even if you're doing things for community members such as a church or other communal organization.
Learn a second language. This was THE number one thing that got me pretty much ANY job I applied for, even as a teen/young adult. No, it's not easy, especially if you begin learning a language later in life. But it's doable and SO worth it. I'm now almost 26, I've been working paid since 16 and no joke every single job I've EVER gotten was because I'm bilingual. Find the languages that are most commonly spoken in your area and commit yourself to learning them to fluency. Especially if you're looking for a customer service job. They will take someone who's bilingual with zero experience over someone who can't help all their typical customers due to language barrier who does have work experience.
It's tough getting a job when you're not inked, let alone having ink on your face and neck. She doesn't deserve empathy. This was her choice.

You follow certain rules and guidelines that allows you to live your life to the fullest. "Satan" is a symbol, instead of a being.

They will absolutely start tracing things back to you.

as someone covered in tattoos i already know there are places that will not hire me for what i look like lol. People just need to accept that if you make certain life choices then you need to live a certain way in life.
