    Never thought I’d say this, but I miss the days when I’d say LEGOs were $10-$20 overpriced and not $30-$40 overpriced.

  • @jazzbee9857

    I really hope people decide to put their money where their mouths are this year and refuse to support Lego through buying overpriced sets like these at full price. I understand that the hype behind newly released Lego sets can be pretty tempting, but please just be patient and wait until they go on sale. There’s only so much satisfaction you get out of buying a set right away for a price this outrageous, and that feeling will fade pretty quickly.

      100% agree. The pricing on these newest (very puny) sets are insanely over inflated. Wait til they are on sale thru amazon or something or buy the minifigs off bricklink.

      Oh heck yeah, I usually wait until Amazon or Walmart tones the pricing down a little bit.

    As a fan of iron man, I really wanted to get this along with the first armoury they released a while back. The total cost in the end was just too high. My love for Lego and the movies is just not enough to justify the price. It’s just sad that I can’t engage in a hobby that I enjoy because it’s getting more ridiculous with the pricing. I know Lego actually pay there workers properly and have a high quality rating compared to most other toy companies but surely they charge extra because they know no one will challenge them and costumers accept it. I feel soon enough that they will start alienating the average person or family as the price gets higher but the salaries or spending amounts of the middle class doesn’t increase. Lego is still a toy company even if they are doing more ventures into products for older audiences that have the cash to burn. You lose your main demographic, you lose sales. We saw this in the nineties when video games took kids away from the bricks. It could easily happen again.

    the sets released in the last few months have been OUTRAGEOUS. i know Lego is expensive and has gone up in price over the years, but its just spiked up absurdly high recently, with no distinct quality improvements.
    I'm glad I mainly focus on Minecraft sets considering they're one of the few licensed themes to not be ridiculously overpriced at this point.

  • @Benjamin0119
    @Benjamin0119 2 ปีที่แล้ว +42

    This thing being $90 is hilariously ridiculous when you look at what you get with other sets that cost in the same price range. The Creator Medieval Castle and Pirate Ship are $100 and you get a good size castle or pirate ship. Sure, they have less minifigures, but no one can tell me the minifigures included here justify added cost onto such a paltry build.
    It seems like LEGO is really counting on people being too tempted by their love of Iron Man and the suits and won't be able to resist buying it, no matter how much it costs.
    I'm a hardcore Star Wars fan and a pretty big fan of Marvel too, but mixing them with LEGO never appealed to me, and I'm especially glad now, given these ludicrous prices.

  • @mickeymoff
    @mickeymoff 2 ปีที่แล้ว +30

    It's great that Lego still produces 50€ sets, but they somehow put the wrong price tags on them.

  • @ClintonMatos
    @ClintonMatos 2 ปีที่แล้ว +13

    These are so many things they could have done to make this set better and increase the value: more suits, a better R8 with official licencing, a different Tony Stark etc etc etc. The best probably would have been to give us a handful of Hammer Drones so the set turns into more of a playset for kids (Hammer Drones versus Iron Man suits) and and an unmissable box for adults. Hell at this price the R8 should have been an officially licenced Speed Champions set inside of this set.
    But why bother with effort and value when this will likely sell regardless and they can post more record profits next year.

  • @kevinm5940

    I'm really not sure what to think of the new helmet piece. For some reason, it reminds me of those chocolate santas that are always sold around Christmas, where it's a generic mould with detail that doesn't fit the shaping perfectly.
    I get why they changed the piece, as this allows for more uses than the more specific old version, but I don't think this design is that succesful. Maybe it looks better in person.

  • @stam7250

    As a lego fan from Hong Kong, I am curious as to whether all of you can only buy sets from official Lego stores or big toy shops like ToyRus. I am asking this because in Hong Kong, we have some smaller shops that sell Lego at a much lower price. For instance, this set costs about 75 us dollars, which is much cheaper. So I am just very curious about the situation in other places ; )

      Here in Finland, we have a very well known online store (they also have a couple of real, physical stores) which sells Lego at a much cheaper price. This set costs 123 USD on the official Lego website, but "only" 90 USD on this particular online store. You'll save 33 bucks by just buying it from a different place, and the shipping is faster as well (2-3 business days).

    • @Benjamin0119
      @Benjamin0119 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I'm not sure what you mean by smaller shops. In the U.S. we can buy LEGO from of course the LEGO stores themselves, and big department stores like Wal-Mart or Target. The smallest stores I've seen LEGO at are Walgreens, which is a drug store, but they only sell a handful of smaller sets. And given everything in Walgreens is more expensive in general, I can't imagine they put LEGO sets at cheaper regular price or on sale too often.
      Toys R Us has sadly been gone for a number of years, killed off by Bain Capital. I don't know what happened to smaller toy stores like Kay-Bee but they are gone too. Toy stores sadly have gone the way of the dodo here. I think LEGO stores might be the ONLY dedicated toy stores we have left?!
      And to add insult to injury, Target will sometimes sell sets at higher than the regular price!

    The only reason I bought this set was because I collect the Iron-Man figures… that’s it. I have them all except the super rare toy fair 2012 iron man figure which is thousands of dollars, but Lego needs to be more reasonable and stop robbing us… I said it. Half of the figures are reused in other sets and we get ONE new villain finally Whiplash, and ONE new mark suit… and new helmets. How do you make the first two sets look alike and can be connected, but this one doesn’t look the same? The inconsistency really bothers me, and I think Lego is making cheaper looking sets, while raising the price for no reason. They must’ve thought, if gas companies can do it, why not us too? I’m not impressed with anything Lego this year so far. I even think the Optimus Prime set is a rip-off too.

    its a shame whiplash will only come in a set that's way over priced. nick fury is only in this set to further inflate the price. instead of designing an armory that can't connect to previous models, lego should have created the battle between whiplash, war machine, and iron man. A $120 set would be fine with only 5 figures (additional two hammer drone robots) and some trees and pond as the battlespace. Rather lego chose to dump a cheap build with too many figures for nearly $100 with tax? I hope this set sells terribly and they realize their customers are brainless zombies that will buy anything with a lego logo.

I mean the Trash Compactor already is lacking in overall volume for its ridiculous price but this Armoury carries all of the same problems as that set, while also coming off even worse, amazingly. For context, to stay within the Marvel theme and Iron Man, this is the same price as the (retired) 76166 Avengers Tower Battle, which while it didn't have much more pieces, was a much more impressive and substantial build.

    Richter: "Fairly priced!?! You make solidly good, terribly priced sets!"

    I love the set and a good addition to my ironman minifigs collection. I got the set almost half the price and it’s original (I live in Shenzhen) i will not buy the original price, for sure Lego will give a discount for this set soon.

    The only real incentive I can really justify for buying this set is the Whiplash minifigure. The remainder figs/builds are all really good, however not really all that compatible with the previous releases which absolutely kills it for me other than the pricing. I see maybe $70 worth of stuff here, definitely not $120 which is beyond overpriced. Same I think could be said for last years Ultimate battle which had 500+ pcs however was priced at about a $100. What even is Lego thinking?

    I hold heartily agree with 90 is way too much for 2 of the bags being literally repeating itself also as much as I like all the side builds I kinda wish they were just one complete build so you could keep track of them all plus I kinda wish nick fury was replaced for a black widow in my opinion or a Justin Hammer
    Honestly I feel like we need a Tony’s Malibu mansion set instead with that price

    I would pay ~$60. $90 is way too much for 3 re use figures and 2 iron man suits I do not need more more of.
    Not to mention not too long ago u could have bought two of the original hall of armor for a little over this set.

    If this had been compatible with the original sets it would have been an auto purchase. But seeing as it’s not at best I’ll pick up one or two of the suits from a reseller.

    I waited and I’m so glad. I only wanted the cassette tape from set no. 76217, so there wasn’t much interest in the set. I did however want this set, but $90 is way over priced and I was going pass on it as well. I’m in Oregon and our Costco here has a 2 in 1 pack consisting of both sets for $100. That price made it more bearable as I would have paid $145 for both sets had I bought them separately. But then again, I was going to spend $0 and now I’m out of $100, but the “deal” was too good to pass up. I definitely feel like I got my monies worth this way.

    For $90 that R8 should be a Speed Champions sized build.. and $90 would still be too much.

    I've wanted all the iron man armouries but not at the prices they have been. And if I'm honest it's not the builds I'm interested in. Its the iron man suits! Its probably true for most people who want the sets and lego know this and that's why the price is high!
    Also they managed to make a 6 stud wide r8 in speed champions and they are now 8 stud wide. So lego should have put a bit more effort to make a better r8 for this set, be it 6 stud (or 8 stud so the diorama could be in the seat next to tony) especially at the price they are asking!

    This is just pure "no" for the price. I got the Iron Monger set on discount some months ago and even then I still felt like I regretted it. Guess I'm "Iron-Man-ed" out.

    The direction Lego is going lately reminds me of years 1997-1998 when they started juniorizing every theme. This does not bode well to me.

    So is Lego just abandoning the idea of their sets being affordable for everyone except the mega collectors?

  • @strangerofthe2067

    I got like 7 or 8 of the first two sets to build a huge armory for all my Iron Man suits and was really looking forward to adding more onto it, then I got this and built it before even realizing the size difference between the two. I knew they looked different but didn’t realize the size difference until trying to put the together. Kinda bummed about it. Also, the price is absolutely horrible, I definitely won’t argue with that. This set and the new Mandalorian ship are so overpriced, I was really disappointed with what I got out of both those sets for paying like $150 or $160 or whatever it was for the two of them.
