Sort of a deep bronze look..turned out great. For whoever gets it, I can give you a little if its history. I found it in a big bin of toy cars at The Richwood Flea Market, in Richwood, Kentucky this past summer. I gave fifty cents for it. My cat played " floor hockey" with it a little bit.
It's a hoot to see a casting that had been banged around in a big wooden box with dozens of other toys given new life..

I have a 1986 300Zx Turbo that I built at 19. It's a blast to drive. Totally different than everything on the road today. I encourage all of you to get out and drive a good example, or even buy one. You won't be let down. Japan's first v6, and they did a great job.
Incredible restoration. The attention to small details is amazing. One of my favorite restorations across all the channels.
Gold colour and a gold medal to another great job. For sure the white base colour made a great difference. Beautiful! 👍
Truly gorgeous looking now. You wouldn't think it was a Matchbox car with that paint finish and those stunning wheels. I would've loved to give that engine a little bit of customising, knowing how nowadays models lack the opening features of 80s era diecast.

Thing looks freaking sweet. A kid neighbor had one but was mad because my Ford ranger would smoke it every time we raced but to be fair my truck wasn't 100% stock
Turned out great. Love the Z cars... had a 280ZX in the mid-80s, have a 370Z now.
Just changing out those wheels would have been a 100% improvement. Great job.

I think using the white primer gave the gold and candy a more brilliant look! Beautiful! The wheels look great!! I would be proud to own that car!! 👍👍👍
I like the new look but I remember those original wheels and thought they were cool. My wife and I enjoy watching your videos. You have inspired me to take up this hobby some day.

Far more realistic interpretation! Well done! Those decals with the laser wheels made the car rather "clownish". Funny what adults think kids would like. Sometimes it seems they are clueless.
Rob that came out absolutely gorgeous. That candy turned out similar to a color Ford f series trucks used which is one of my favorite factory colors ever. The wheels you put on makes it look more like a real Z than those funky looking ones that came on it. Has to be one of my favorite builds that you have done 🍻
Well done Rob, great improvement on the custom. Maybe a double custom next time, two cars, one white undercoat , one black undercoat, same candy colours. You'll know which goes best then for the top coat. Keep up the great work 👍

Great custom Rob. What a difference these wheels make, and a noticeably shiny windscreen too. The Pledge treatment doesn't always show up on camera but that is some clean glass.👌
Those "laser" wheels are sought out by downhill racers, as they were regarded as about the fastest made by mbx. Cheers Rob

My buddy has two 1987 300's for sale, one is almost the same color maroon as the casting originally had on it and a blue one. I almost bought the maroon one, it drives very nice for an 87 but my needs require a truck. :(

The gold as you were spraying it reminded me of the gold C3PO storage box from the 80s.

That is a stunning job on that Nissan 300 Rob ,,the wheel swap is deffinitely an improvement . I used to own a 1985 Toyota Celica in red , wish l owned the Black Supra l once saw for sale in a gage near where we live , this Nissan 300 brought back memories 👍

it looks good. i loved the old wheels. they are called laser wheels. they were really fast back in the day. i have a couple of cars with them. they weren’t the best looking wheels but they made the cars roll awesome.

Awesome job buddy! Love those gold wheels. They look perfect on that . I use ALOT of that Tamiya Gold Leaf for the base. The flake size is perfect and makes candy jobs really pop.

Those are great colors. I'd love to see that one in daylight. I always find that the true test. Heaven knows they look so different in the stores and in the blister packaging, I don't think the original paints look nearly as nice as soon as you take them out of the bag at home.
I must have trashed a dozen of these cars with the flask wheels way back. Guess I learned my lesson.
