Nothing stopped Oscar Robertson who was smaller than Wilt from averaging 30. So why do we think MJ would not have dominated...now I admit in a full game MJ wouldn't drive to the basket as much against Wilt but in the same breath Wilt never faced someone with the tenacity of a Jordan or a Kobe Bryant so it would be interesting to say the least. Oh and if we are saying that Bill Russell had that kind of tenacity then the outcome might be in favor of Jordan as Russell still managed to beat Wilt not on a 1v1 basis but team wise. RIP Mr. Chamberlain still the most dominating player in league history(physically speaking)
I think Wilt's point is that MJ could do great things outside the 'domain' of the big men of Wilt's era but not so much within that domain. All those fancy moves to the basket would have ended in collisions that would have knocked MJ on his arse, over and over again.
Michael dominates Wilt's time 6 foot 6 with ups going against larry costello slow and 6 ft 1 , or howie komives, arlen bockhorn and that list goes on cmon, however NEVER underestimate Wilt, especially a motivated Wilt, he could do anything and could dominate a game if he was hell bent on it at any time period in the NBA

Never once did Jordan hate on Wilt or any past eras but instead he stood up for them. Jordan didn’t meltdown like wilt in the playoffs and Finals is the difference
What i like about Wilt is that he was a gentleman on and off the court. He had such and advantage in terms of phisicality that he could have just crushed everyone but he looked out for smaller players, many times just opting for a fadeaway instead of running over people. So as a man i say Wilt, as a player its Jordan. There are lots and lots of what ifs if Wilt played the same time as Jordan.
Wilt Chamberlain died in 1999 so Jordan was retired at that time. Wilt didn’t miss any of Jordan’s Championship years. He just missed his Wizards tenure.

Wilt broke a guy's foot when he blocked his shot and brought him down to the ground with the ball. I think Wilt is right about driving the lane in that era. Wilt was not a mean player btw he just was extremely strong.
I think the best quote I had heard came during the 50th anniversary of the nba. Wilt and MJ were discussing who was better. Wit had the final say. He said, “the rules were changed to make the harder for me. The rules were changed to make the game easier for you.” Both great players both could and did dominate a game. I would have to say I think Wilt is better one on one in their prime.
Wilt was and will always be the greatest force to ever play the game. No one will ever lead the league in all three top categories. The highest season scoring average, The highest rebounding average for a season and career. And still the only man to do both and lead the league in assists.
I think Wilt and Jordan were both fascinated by the other one. I mean they were such statistical outliers during their eras that the comparisons were inevitable, even though they were very different players. I think Wilt would probably win 1v1, just like a young Shaq probably would, and just like Hakeem probably would. They're just hard to compete with, being as large and quick and smart as they were (Hakeem and Wilt particularly).
I feel like each of these men played their respective positions as close to perfectly as we will ever see. Mad respect to each of these men and how they played the game. Imagine them playing together!!

Wilt was great and could play in any era. That said, i watched MJ’s entire career and I saw him go up against every big. MJ never had trouble with any big because he was too fast and agile. His ability to get up in the air quickly and his ability to change hands and use the backboard and rim to shield his shot pretty well nullified the bigs. The reason why we are inclined to make such fictitious comparisons is because they were both incredible athletes and the fact that we can never know who would win a game between them is precisely what fascinates and, at the same time, taunts the mind and that it makes us entertain it by indulging in such impossible mental experiments. They can never be answered and for this very reason will keep being asked for as long as people play basketball.
7:32 - 7:39 That's not what he meant at all. What he meant was that MJ was the first basketball player that: a) made basketball such a great spectator sport by making his game so exciting to watch even for non-basketball fans b) most importantly, negotiated his salary successfully on account of his success and the increasing success of the game overall, thus opening the way for others to do the same and c) won huge advertising contracts on account of a) above. He did not mean by any stretch of the imagination that other players should pay MJ because he was great.
Regardless of what YOUR opinion is, there are a handful of people who have earned the right to think they're at Jordan's level or above. Wilt is one of them. Especially with his infamous "they made rules to help you, they made rules to stop me" taunt against Jordan.
In 1v1 I'd bet on Wilt. I think MJ could score against Wilt, but I can't imagine some one to successfully guard a player when there is a 6 inch height advantage. Unless it's LeBron James who can't score on older, shorter and less athletic Jason Kidd and passes the ball away. Or can't stop a smaller Jason Terry on defense. But in a 5v5 team game I think MJ is more valuable than Wilt, so I'd pick him.
Wilt wasn't faster, stop it. He was fast for his position. He not out running MJ on any day. Mj ran a 4.3, Wilt ran a 4.6 same as LeBalco. Stronger? YES, quicker? NO! KILLER Mentality? MJ ALL DAY! speed kills size! no matter how big. Thats science. Wilt will probably miss more often than Mj. Wilt probably wouldn't see the ball once Mj goes spacing mode and drowns him on the floor. No player is beating Mj 1 on 1, you need a Bad boys-like tactical team to do that and you still gonna need some prayers and eat your Wheaties. Let's put it this way Wilt would struggle far more than MJ. Mj gets the ball first, most likely, he not gonna miss. Wilt will occasionally IF he got the ball first. My money is on Mike.

5:17... that's it right there... if Wilt was in his prime, would a prime MJ be able to get off anything other than a bunch of crazy Steph Curry 3 pointers? And I'm talking about a game of full court 1 on 1...
Great video, I’m a huge MJ fan and your question merits a long answer in my opinion. I think 1 on 1 it would be a great match, of course in the paint Wilt would dominate Michael because he was a freak athlete, he was much taller and bigger he had a very efficient jumpshot, which is very underrated, and his mental sharpness and mental toughness were as good as Michael’s, but MJ could beat Wilt with fast moves. I think Wilt might beat MJ but not by much. With that being said, I believe a team with Michael Jordan would beat a team with with Chamberlain only if MJ had Shaq in is team as MJ wouldn’t be matchup with Wilt and any center MJ had in any of his team would be crushed by Wilt! It’s unfortunate Wilt died so young because I would love to hear him talking about today’s game and I think he would put everybody in his place.
Great Video, I have to agree with you on your opinion on MJ vs Wilt aswell as on MJ vs Lebron. I recently heard that the NBA secretly advised their Refs to call less fouls therfore allowing the games to be more physical (noted exception the Lakers still get alot of foul calls) and would like to know your opinion on this, personaly i think if true it's a good beginning but they still need to call traveling and carries more.
Michael was great no doubt but he was a hard ass with other players. I know Bird messed up a lot of his games against Boston. He was glad when Bird retired.
Wilt is one of if not the best athletes of the 20th century. He dominated in every sport that he competed in. Track and field before the NBA and he started a pro volleyball ball league after the NBA. He holds multiple NBA records and would hold more if he hadn't been told to stop scoring so much. Hecwas incredibly strong, fast and agile for 7'1 and 275lbs. Not to mention he's vertical was I believe 42 inches. When I think of being dominant and versatile the only other names that cross my mind are Bo jackson and Deion Sanders. All 3 are incredibly are specimens and I think that younger people especially don't recognize true greatness just because they're not seeing it happen now.
I think that it would be a very interesting match-up of Jordan vs Wilt, as both players have the power, determination, and skills to make it really interesting
6:18 and playing based on which rules? 60's NBA rules or '90s NBA rules? Not that it would affect the end result in my opinion but would definitely affect the score. But this is not a fair comparison to be hones, not just because of the height difference but because each player has learnt to play a different game as dictated by the demands of the time. If MJ had played in the 60s or 70s, then we would know. He'd still be one of the greatest. Vice versa for Wilt.
8:27 Again, how do you define value? If Wilt was one side and MJ on the other, the rest of the teams are absolutely equivalent players (still quite hard to say this as MJ and Wilt held totally opposite positions in the court and therefore the rest of the team cannot be perfectly equivalent because of this simple fact) would you still consider MJ's team the more likely to win? I have no other way of defining basketball value than this one.
no one could beat Michael 1v1! the man was amazing in his prime! strength, speed, shooting, endurance! we're talking about the best Michael, right!? they can line up as they want... Michael from '88. to '93. is the best basketball player in the universe! whoever watched it knows what I'm talking about. point! 😊
You can't say 60s and 70s was poor play. Then say 80s and 90s is great, then say now is bad play again. That's just stupid. Either you say players have gotten better through time. Or you say greats players were great regardless. You can't pick a time in the middle and say those players were the best. It doesn't work
you missed out on the story of wilt with a college team vs show times lakers... maybe u dont know it, but google it. otherwise there was a famous conversation between wilt and michael... and when wilt got up his final words were: always remember for you they made the rules easier and in your favor, for me, they made the rules more difficult. so yes wilt was the best player ever as he was a freak of nature, a phenomenon

With all due respect, I don't know if I can agree with you. I think in this conversation, people are forgetting Jordan's determination that would be maybe too much for Wilt Chamberlain people probably forget that
Two eras - two totally different positions. Like comparing apples and oranges. Wilt was definitely the most dominant physical freak to ever play. Jordan was the greatest showman and elevated the sport like no other. Both are on my Mount Rushmore with Kareem and Lebron.
The NBA made a bunch of rules against Wilt to make the game "fair". The NBA made 1 rule against Mike to make the game "fair". The stats also don't do Wilt or Mike service since both were asked to reduce their scoring in order to help their team get more involved.
Wilt is an All Time Great, but nowhere near Jordan! The main thing separating them = the Post Season!!! As Great as Jordan was in the Regular Season, he was even better in the Post Season!! As Great as Wilt was as a Scorer, in the post season, he averaged over 30ppg four times. He led the post season in ppg just Once! He averaged 22.5 ppg for his career!! Compare that to Jordan. In the Post Season he averaged over 30ppg 12 straight years!!! He led in ppg 10 Times!! Career he averaged 33.4ppg, highest All Time!! Plus you add in the 6 Titles to just 2? No contest. Jordan easily and by far the GOAT!!
How about you don't copy what I already wrote 3 hours earlier even though you didn't bother to _upvote_ what I wrote earlier, and we both know you saw it.
Wilt was a beast I think it’s the competitive nature of wilt But on the other hand if you imagine Wilt coming into the league in the 80s or 90s It would be interesting to see but it will never happen So for me the goat debate in any sport doesn’t make sense
Wilt was dominant. Physically imposing and athletic. BBall IQ as well. I'm a huge Jordan fan even though I am also a huge Knicks fan. MJ killed my 90's Knicks. In a 1 v 1 in their primes. I would think Wilt would win that but that's not a given. IDK if it would be easily too, b/c Jordan can hit 3's when ever he wants to (even though he didn't need to in his ERA) - so that could be a differentiator if he changes things up and shoots 3s on Wilt.
I think Jordan was well rounded enough that Wilt would end up overcompensating and if MJ EVER found a weakness he pound at it and make it an emotional competition more than a physical one. Even if Wilt was the MJ kryptonite and could slow MJ down there is still room in the league for MJ to get like 15 rings going around Wilts efforts.
Wilt was a great athlete, no doubt. Skill-wise, I’m not giving him the edge over MJ. Wilt was physically dominant and that was his greatest strength and what he capitalized on. That’s why a majority of his shots were dunks or close to dunks. His size almost made him as if he were playing against little kids. On top of that, he played in a weak era. MJ on the other hand, played in what is arguably the toughest era ever. MJ is a naturally gifted athlete whose game evolved over time, depending on the challenges he faced. If Wilt played in MJ’s era, I’m certain MJ would’ve found a way to evolve his game to beat Wilt because of MJ’s high IQ. That much said, we would still never know, that’s why MJ never considered himself to be the GOAT because he never played against Wilt. But from an observer’s eyes, we know MJ would’ve found a way.
In a team game, Wilt vs. MJ is tough because their teammates in the match-ups matter. Wilt would have to have a fast, athletic big man on MJ's team to try and contain him (cough Bill Russell). Without someone to guard Wilt, it would be easy inside baskets for him.

6:26 WOW!!!! I didn't expect that!!!! Most people (ludicrously) refuse to give Chamberlain his JUST DUE. It's a FACT that Jordan was elated and relieved that Hakeem Olajuwon couldn't get out of the west, because the Sonics matched well with them. It's also a fact that the Rockets had a winning record against the Bulls during the Bulls first three-peat. If Jordan couldn't handle Olajuwon (no disrespect to Olajuwon's jaw dropping talent), WHAT is he going to do against the all-around athleticism (ran track, threw the discus, high jumped, among many other things, not to mention his staggering stamina and strength) of the FORCE that was Mr. Wilton Norman Chamberlain?
MJ had all the characteristics that a basketballer should have. WIlt was an extraordinary athlete, but MJ is the most complete basketballer ever existed, he was out of this world not only in attack but also in defense. I am so lucky that I got to see him playing even in my youth
There are 2 issues that youngsters who weren't around the game back when Wilt Chamberlain play need to understand. When people say that the game is different , they should ask how and listen. Because, in fact, there are 3 things that they should know: 1st no 3 point shot, 2nd no dunking and 3rd no carrying. Without the 3 point shot, big men dominate. No dunking, little players like small forwards and guards would have to learn how to shoot over big men like the George Gervin finger roll. And lastly carrying which was also called palming the basketball which was a turnover. Watching the game now and comparing it to the game back then, there would be waaay more turnovers. And the crossover dribble which MJ and AI used heavily and is now a common way to handle the basketball would not exist.
Most great NBA players, like Wilt, defend the era they played in and claim that it was the best in NBA history. That's just human nature. Wilt didn't play in an era of strong competition or a time where many teams had a chance to win a championship. Russell's 11 rings easily solidifies that point. Wilt had a huge ego, he was a big-time story-embellisher (slept with 20k women, could bench 500 pounds etc. etc.) and he liked to get as much attention as possible. MJ's early domination took attention away from Wilt and bruised his ego because he was always asked about it. I think Wilt was also jealous of the money that MJ was making. MJ would be the GOAT in any NBA era, in my opinion. Wilt's only real knock on MJ was that he was relatively small. So what?! MJ was 6'6" and 200-2015 pounds which isn't at all small when you have a 48 inch max. vertical, massive hands and are you're so athletic that you can dunk on anyone so quickly that they don't have time to react with a hard foul. Of course, Jordan was fouled and hurt a few times but nothing that kept him from attacking the rim. Rest in peace, Wilt.
6:28 WOW!!!!!! I didn't expect that!!!! Most people simply (& LUDICROUSLY) refuse to give Chamberlain his JUST DUE. It's also a FACT that Houston had a winning record against the Bulls during their (the Bulls') first three-peat. If Jordan couldn't handle Olajuwon (no disrespect to Olajuwon's immense talent), WHAT is he going to do with the FORCE that was Mr. Wilton Norman Chamberlain?
Wilt took every great player before him and became the absolute pinnacle for all basketball players to be measured by. MJ took everything before him, including Bill, Wilt, Dr. J, Magic, Bird, Kareem etc, and became the next pinnacle. I believe we are still waiting for that next pinnacle. It is interesting with players like Steff clearly evolving a certain element of the game to newer levels of what is achievable, but no one has yet taken everything into the next step and clearly can claim to be the total pinnacle player.
Wilt was a freak athlete. But the league had half as many teams in Wilt's time. Not just height and athleticism, but strategy was different in Wilt's time. The insane rebounding numbers of Wilt and Bill Russell could not happen in later decades.
Wilt said they made rules so he could not dominate, and that later they made rules so Jordan could dominate. Let's analyse it: In Wilt's era, there were no teams like the Bad Boys Pistons, so removing that in Jordan's era would allow both Jordan and Wilt to dominate if they played in Jordan's era. However, the rules made against Wilt was also applied to Jordan, yet Jordan dominated, so if Wilt and Jordan played in Wilt's era with that rule change in effect, Jordan dominates and Wilt wilts, and mind you, Jordan competed and dominated stronger and more athletic super Centers.
Wilt was aptly named, because that's just what he did in the playoffs during his career; WILTed, like a dead flower. Why did Wilt's gaudy regular season numbers fall off a cliff compared to his postseason stats? His scoring average dropped 7.6 ppg! Conversely, Jordan is one of the very few players whose career scoring average INCREASED once the playoffs began. And not just increased a little, but by 3.3 ppg! So, to recap: Once everyone ramped up their defense in the postseason, as they always do, MJ's scoring got BETTER. Wilt's got WORSE. Wilt was great at dominating and putting up ridiculous numbers during the regular season, when he was facing 6'4" slow White stiffs night after night and then once every three weeks he might meet someone remotely close to his own size, and even then they were usually about 3" shorter. But when Chamberlain got to the playoffs, where a superstar really proves his mettle, he was exposed. Reason being that none of the stiffs make it to the playoffs so now Wilt was facing guys close to his athletic ability during almost _every game_ rather than every 20th game. Don't believe me, ask yourself why Wilt has such a HUGE discrepancy between his highest ever regular season scoring game (100) and his highest ever playoff scoring game (a weak ass 56). A 44 point differential! Meanwhile, there's virtually no difference between MJ's highest regular season scoring game (69) and his highest playoff scoring effort (63 - which STILL stands as the all-time single game playoff scoring record nearly 40 years later). All of these things, along with Jordan having 3x the rings that Chamberlain does, PROVE that Jordan is the GOAT, not Wilt.
Just read your reply to my thread. I did look for any thread that makes this point. Fact is, there is no comparison between the two. Jordan Steps Up, and Wilt falls back and lives up to his name as you said. Jordan is by FAARRRR the GOAT!!!!!!
"he tried to pile up his assists. So that meant Wilt would only pass it to guys who could catch and shoot. And he'd never pass it to Chet Walker, because Chet always had to be pump-faking or use a dribble and take away the assist."- Matt Guokas "Wilt's incessant search for individual records indicated to me that he never really understood how the game should be played. Russell made us better players. Wilt, in my opinion, had the opposite effect." - Bob Cousy Wilt honestly thought the best way for his team to win was for him to be in the best possible setting. He'd ask, 'What's the best situation for me?" - Butch Van Breda Kolff - coach of the 1968 and 1969 Lakers "I'll say what most players feel, which is that Wilt is a loser...He is terrible in big games. - Rick Barry In Wilt's 7 scoring title seasons - the highest scoring numbers of his career, Wilt's teams had: A 22-30 playoff record (0.423 win%) Only 1 Finals appearance (1964, lost 1-4 to Celtics) And 0 championships. Both are qick, fast and have a high vertical. I believe Jorden is all around more skilled, Wilt is taller and stronger to make up for that 1v1. Love Jordan, to me he is the GOAT, but my money is on Wilt. I don't think anyone could beat Wilt 1v1 in his prime.
If you wonder how Michael would do against Wilt in one on one, look at Dr J vs Kareem. I've seen the videos of that contest in an NBA contest. I felt sorry for the Dr who was my favorite at the time. It wasn't even close.
♦ Wilt is the greatest PLAYER ever. Do the research--compare it side-by-side with anyone who's ever played-it's not close. ♦ If you consider the overall IMPACT on basketball-on and off the court-then MJ is the greatest ever. th-cam.com/video/zeHGBgxMm1Q/w-d-xo.htmlsi=oCmlzzMxwm0yMHjT Check out this video of Wilt playing for Kansas vs. Colorado in 1957. It's only one game. I know. But from any eyeball test, who in the NBA RIGHT NOW could do what he was doing in this clip? It's an eyeball test, but to me--this version of Wilt would dominate in any era--including today. Also, remember that he was not the fully physically mature Wilt and had yet to develop the excellent passing skills or dexterity with the ball that he probably developed after playing with the Globetrotters.
i can’t say Jordan would win a sudden death one on one, but because of his will, and worth ethic, Jordan would rise above Wilt. Prime Jordan was too explosive and would either blow past Wilt to the basket, or at least create enough separation to get clean shots. Wilt in the paint would dominate Jordan. perimeter defense would be vital for Mike.
The NBA is so different than it was decades ago. When you are comparing Wilt's skills from the 60s to MJ dominating the 90s, it's not really fair. As big & strong as he was, what if Wilt Chamberlain played in an era like with David Robinson, Hakeem Olajuwan, & Patrick Ewing? His game would have been TOTALLY DIFFERENT! Plus, l do remember as a child when "you didn't disrespect your opponent" like that. Jordan was being "hard fouled" in the 80s starting his career, until he convinced Stern to change the rules for him Yes, absolutely he would have been crushed pulling fancy moves like he's known for in the paint in the 60s. A great point by Wilt. As far as one-on-one, Wilt was a Harlem Globetrotter! He could handle the ball very well for his size. Plus, most of us have seen MJ yry to guard a taller superstar like Larry Bird. There was one video that l saw that really made it clear how elite Wilt Chamberlain was. In the off-season, Magic Johnson & several of the Lakers players were playing pickup games. They played against Wilt who had a bunch of college players on his team. There was some kind of a disagreement as far as the score & if the Lakers players had actually won the game. Infuriated, Wilt demanded a rematch and said that nobody was going to score on his team. They said that in the rematch, (a retired) Wilt Chamberlain blocked every single shot at that end!!! Not to mention that man was in his 50s at the time!
Wilt Chamberlain may be the greatest athlete ever play. At his size he was ridiculous. If you haven't heard of any of this or his feats, they are legendary. Look them up.
Wilt was an incredible athlete and definitely one of the greatest players of all-time. He could play in any era.

The reason why we are inclined to make such fictitious comparisons is because they were both incredible athletes and the fact that we can never know who would win a game between them is precisely what fascinates and, at the same time, taunts the mind and that it makes us entertain it by indulging in such impossible mental experiments. a) made basketball such a great spectator sport by making his game so exciting to watch even for non-basketball fans
b) most importantly, negotiated his salary successfully on account of his success and the increasing success of the game overall, thus opening the way for others to do the same and
c) won huge advertising contracts on account of a) above.

There are DOZENS of players who can attest to this. There were even COACHES telling their players NOT to Trask talk Mike. Just shut up and play.
Again people digging up dead men (not the author of this clip tho) to belittle mjs greatness. First Bias now Wilt. Smh
Wilt has his strenghts, Jordan also... tough matchup between these two... Just like Wilt said, it all comes down to what is required of you from your team and your coach. MJ has the greatest highlights of all time, but i still would have given it to Wilt in their matchup. Great comparison and point of view BTM.
I love Michael Jordan. But wilt was the one person he would have been able to dominate.(or maybe Kobe because Kobe was his clone with all his moves.)Wilt was 7foot tall,A track star and could bench over 500 pounds. If he would have had more help like Bill Russell did on his teams. He would have a lot more championships. In a team sport. The one man show almost NEVER wins a ring.Great video.👊😎
He was all of that and still barely win 2 chips...not that dominant as they like you to believe
@@deonlepharaoh STILL JORDAN NEVER WON 1 GAME VS BIRD ?? TELL US WHY JORDAN ZERO WINS ? HORRY IS JUST BETTER THAN MJ. HAVLICEK 8 RINGS BETTER STATS THAN MJ. TOO BAD U JUST ADMIT WHY JORDAN IS NOBODY.
@@deonlepharaoh they dont want you to think that. Your comment is illogical.
"could bench over 500 pounds" This is a myth.
Wilt could do anything but make free throws
He couldn't win as a scoring champ
Jordan IQ would have him scoring at will like any era with his athletic skills, he would have used his deadly jumper, vs wilt critic of jordan doing 360 dunks all game.. wilt would have adjusted to play in jordan era but would be a hof loser like jordan other victims..
Wilt vs Mike, both in prime...WILT ALL DAY LONG! I love MJ but if Wilt was going all out I don't think nobody could beat him. Any shot MJ shot above Wilt, Wilt with his long arms and vertical leap, he would snatch it out of air quickly with one hand!
Wilt was easily to most individually dominant player we've ever seen and a great example of a big that didn't just use gis size and actually had a bag. But Bill Russell was a better winner and team player as well as a crazy basketball mind (only player to coach their own team in league history), Kobe wanted it more, players like Dr.J or Dream or Steph or AI were more innovative, and MJ was a better total package.
Honestly not sure who takes a 1v1. I think MJ smokes him much of the time with a significantly faster first step from what I've seen. But few players have ever swatted down shots and locked down the cup like Stilt. Idk.
Like he crushed Russell. Literally Rusell won more Mvp's and Rings than wilt, and also, the FMVP trophy is called The Bill Russell's Trophy. The fact is Russell was the best player of the 60's.
WIlt was very good, he could have played in any area, but let's not forget that he couldn't defiet Bill Russell, I still think MJ would have find the way to score against him as wekk and defiet him.
Bill dominated him
I like Wilt I do, and I rate Jerry, Oscar highly - but if Jerry, Rick and Oscar are consistently averaging 30-36ppg in Wilts prime - then MJ is going to be a problem in that era
With all due respect, I don't know if I can agree with you. I think in this conversation, people are forgetting Jordan's determination that would be maybe too much for Wilt Chamberlain people probably forget that
This guy seems like he just talks Wilt. Chamberlain died in 1999. How did he miss Michael Jordan’s career?
Two eras - two totally different positions. Like comparing apples and oranges. Wilt was definitely the most dominant physical freak to ever play. Jordan was the greatest showman and elevated the sport like no other. Both are on my Mount Rushmore with Kareem and Lebron.
Wilt was a freak for his time. But there was no opposition other than Russell.
Dude, look it up. 10 hall of fame centers from back then.
Respect for WC. You were one of the greatest athlete and basketball players who ever lived. But I doubt you would have crashed MJ. aka Black Jesus
MJ was a rookie after Wilt retired. Before MJ there really wasn't any controversy about Wilt and Bill having been the best
The NBA made a bunch of rules against Wilt to make the game "fair". The NBA made 1 rule against Mike to make the game "fair". The stats also don't do Wilt or Mike service since both were asked to reduce their scoring in order to help their team get more involved.
I agree. I would have gone with Wilt.
Michael Jordan had more skill in his rookie season than Wilt Chamberlain had in his entire career.
Wilt was a beast
I think it’s the competitive nature of wilt
But on the other hand if you imagine Wilt coming into the league in the 80s or 90s
It would be interesting to see but it will never happen
So for me the goat debate in any sport doesn’t make sense
About to react to this!!
I honestly believe Wilt was jealous of MJ probably because MJ was a SG and not a center and was able to dominate more than he did.
Lie
@@chauvintookaknee4blm268 np thats ur opinion but it sure seamed like it, just like Dr J. Wilt died in 99 so he saw MJ's second repeat and that's when he realized

He was the best rebounder avg 23 pg. He also took alot of shots to avg 40 pts those 7 years, at least 30+. Most great players say that their era was the best. Wilt had a huge ego too so it only made sense that he'd criticize MJ.

WOW!!!!
With all do respect if I was Wilt and destroyed every page of the record book i'd believe I was the GOAT too.
MJ#1GOAT#23AIRJORDAN
Wilts a monster. Jordan is too. These guys are killer ballers
Could Rodman guard Wilt Chamberlain ??? 😮
you are kidding right?
God no!
MJ is a class act and sensible..He respect the players that come before him.
100 % agree MJ is my Basketball God ,but 1 vs 1 nobody can defeated Wilt , Nobody

Most people simply (& LUDICROUSLY) refuse to give Chamberlain his JUST DUE. Chamberlain was far more than a basketball player; he could throw the discus, run track, high jump, and much more, not to mention his strength. It's a FACT that Jordan was elated that Hakeem Olajuwon couldn't get out of the west, because the Sonics matched well with the Rockets.
Let's analyse it:
In Wilt's era, there were no teams like the Bad Boys Pistons, so removing that in Jordan's era would allow both Jordan and Wilt to dominate if they played in Jordan's era.
@@MasterSpade Alright. Respect that you went back and made it right with the upvote.

"Wilt's incessant search for individual records indicated to me that he never really understood how the game should be played. Russell made us better players. Wilt, in my opinion, had the opposite effect."

Wilt honestly thought the best way for his team to win was for him to be in the best possible setting. He'd ask, 'What's the best situation for me?"

Only 1 Finals appearance (1964, lost 1-4 to Celtics)
And 0 championships.

Sean.....you are pretty right on
Both are qick, fast and have a high vertical.

Check out this video of Wilt playing for Kansas vs.
