I swear man flame has the best understanding of movement I've seen on the dojo, he manages to show how heavy the great sword is, and how light and easy to move the rapier is, and he doesn't rely on effects at all unlike alot of people that use effects to hide improper movement (Theres too many doubles imo but then again what do I know), anyway i love this dude's work
Ya, alot of Pivot Animators add unessecary effects or animate cinematic. I find it hard to animate 2d fights but, im gettin there

Eh, rapiers aren’t really *that* light, but considering that greatsword probably weighs several dozen pounds at the least, and the other dude *shows that*, it does make for a better contrast.

Eh just a lil' nitpicky, Rapier aren't THAT light, while generally Greatsword aren't that heavy either. Rapier weighs about 1 kilogram, while Greatsword weighs around 3 kilograms. It's definitely more sluggish to use but not that much difference if you master Greatsword swinging pendulum, and right posture to use. Greatsword can be as swift as Longsword on the right hand.
i specifically remember her animation from the realism of the movement, I honestly think she's one of the best animators I've seen in a long time

This is such a good animation, and I still can't get over it xD! From the movements to the action, it's all just really pleasant to look at. I know a lot of people don't like the "choppiness", but in this case, it doesn't take away from the anim at all. It adds a certain kind of aesthetic to it. Just keep doin' what you're doin' Flame, I can't wait to see more from you! / ' v')b

I am very intrigued by the level of skill that this animator has ensured in all his long or even premature years of animation.
This style, in addition to being a little slow, pleases me in one suit, staggering my correct looks, blows are well fixed, the effects do not seem so well developed as a whole, in my view.
The facial expressions, however simple, are very definite and punctual in what they are destined to convey by the very idea of their principal animator.
Characters as quoted by facial expressions demonstrate a certain difference about the strongest and the weakest being, and that sometimes even the weakest being can beat his strongest opponent or hurt him gravely, But like all natural law in almost many of these cases what prevails is the victory of the strongest.
But from what I understand, smootheness is not the only way to make a good animation, as many other styles that exist that if really well worked can achieve an overwhelming and aceptable result.
The simplicity of this animation is what makes the effects stand out the most because of the lack of over-detailed figures, that do not excel as well depending on the type of animator that is animating them.
By the end of it all I have to say is a strikingly overwhelming but inclusive job.

Feels like the rapier guy wasn’t the kind of person to show mercy to an enemy like greatsword did. It seemed like greatsword was being shown as a bad guy at first, but I was definitely rooting for him in the end.

The rapier guy sucked. The greatsword guy gave him so many oportunities and was not really trying, and still beat him even with god mode on.
And cocky as hell, this dude must be a kid or an adult with kid shits, I seen some unforgivable mfs in Roblox, like I teach him combos, cause he wanna know how to get good, I didn't use combos, never in my life but I thought of one and told him, days later he got good just because I thought of one.
Later he started being quiet and attack people and me the one who taught him, then I started destroying him.
That is my example of how relatable the rapier dude and the fcking kid are.

This is one of the best things I've seen in a while. Yeah, it was a bit choppy, but my god did you ever make up for it with the movement. This is incredible.

Irl, I’m a one on one duel a rapier would likely win
Rapiers have much more agility and are much more precise than great swords. With sword battles agility and speed are most important, greats words are just heavy sharpened bits of metal you lug around an unless you have immense strength and dexterity, you couldn’t use effectively and could only throw swings with. Great swords are hard to handle heavy swords which are mostly impractical in one on one while rapiers are generally accepted as the best dueling sword. You can’t block a swing from a great sword with a rapier, but you can dodge it with the speed you would have, granted you have at least amateur training.
One thing to note is that, great swords aren’t meant for duels while rapiers are and both have there upsides and downsides, great swords like claymores are meant for big battlefields and can on,y be used in a one on one if you fighting people with heavy swords to

Idk about y’all but I like the choppiness, almost like it was intentional makes more room for more fluidity. I really really love this animation. I focus less on the choppiness, more on the fluidity, physics, creativity, and story. one of the best pivot animations ever, if not the best.

Rapier: Gets longer than greatsword.
Swordsman: NOW THAT'S A BIG PROBLEM.
Great sword: slow, heavy amounts of damage.
Rapier: fast, hard to block with.
When you get enough momentum, you can do a surprisingly fast series of cuts with a greatsword

In real life, when it comes to single sword duels, using a rapier is like turning on an aimbot. it unfairly beats all other swords in duels, most likely because it is a weapon made specifically for civilian dueling. You got the nimble point control and blindingly fast thrusts.
On the other hand, great sword mains like myself would barely consider the greatsword a dueling weapon, its best comparable to a halberd, as it was made to fight against halberds and spears with all that heft its got. But boy do i love it when its brought to a duel to spite all the naysayers.
Just get a gun.

daggers. Daggers are just about as light and let you cut as fast and even deeper then rapiers
