addition to the post above. I didn't take the tailgate off, I simply added some weight to the front to balance it. And I didn't slide the bed all the way out, I only moved about 18 inches, just enough to clear the fuel pump. For safety precaution, I added 4x8, 2x4 wood blocks underneath to support the bed instead of hanging by the engine hoist. Just something the share.People like you deserves a medal.
Very good video. Thanks. I'm a bit clumsy so I would put a moving pad or blanket between the box and the cab when removing. With my luck I would scratch it.
Do you know if this would make changing the fuel pump easier to take the bed out? I think the pump is going out in mine and I might still have to drop the tank unless the pump is on the top of the tank, then I'll just remove the bed. I have a 2001 F150 xlt. I don't know how similar it would be compared to your lightning. That's a gorgeous truck you have.
Good video. If I may suggest, next time take the rear wheels off, set rear end on jack stands, and you won’t have to lift the bed so high to get it off.
Nice vid but I have few questions. Is their any difference between a 02 and a 03 ranger, how much did the bed way, and how long did it take? Thank you.
i'm looking at doing the same thing, can i ask how you supported the bed on the jack stands? don't want to destroy the thing by accident, don't know if those fiberglass sides are up to supporting its weight and don't want to set it on the pavement reguardless Thanks :D!
@@stevegm1977 ah thank you, i should have specified i have a step side and for what ever reason ford went with fiberglass instead of metal for the stepsides.
@@stevegm1977 So yes apparently the sides are aluminum, guy i bought the old girl from told me they were fiberglass and i never questioned it. and yeah gona be a minute till i get that far, broken 2 TX50 bits on this project in the past 2 days, and the nuts have broken free of the welds on the clips the bolts go into, was going to use new hardware to put it back on anyways but had hoped to avoid having to cut these ones to get it off.
Hello nice video thank you for the content! i own a 1999 ford svt lightning and i am desperately looking for a complete bed to be delivered to french polynesia can someone help me thank you
If you had to guess, what did that whole bed weigh? I am thinking about gutting my lightning for weight reduction and getting fiberglass front clip, rear fenders and 4 link. Just curious what kinda weight I might be looking at dropping.
This may be unrelated to the video but I assume this is your Lightning? Would you mind me asking some Lightning related questions. I have a 2002 that was hit by an idiot texting. I am having a fit getting someone to repair and would like some insight.
I've replaced the pump using your techniques, 1 person job, 4 hours, piece of cake.
Great video, you are the man, thank you so much.

@@user-ji6zt1go5f great advice because I don't have an engine hoist so I'll definitely try this because I need to replace my pumps.
Nice job men!! This bed model flareside works in 03 f150 regular cab my truck used the other model of bed... I think is the same chasis.

That's how it done son. I gotta get me one of those Cherry Pickers... By far one of the easiest and efficient... Thanks for the Vid...
Nicely done! Good music too!
Bravo!! That was awesome.
I will try to attempt this on my 2005 f150 I wondered if it was possible. Thank you!

Awesome vid! Thanks for sharing.
what brand lowering kit is in the rear I know you changed out the hanger and shackle but I never seen a hanger that has 2 settings on it?
Nice. I gotta do this on my Raptor. Hopefully its similar on the underside connections.

Nice video ,Thanks

The bedsides are already fiberglass.
I just want to know if a stock F150 bedside would be the same as the lightning (aside from the body kit along the bottom)

Michael Fowler are you looking for advice or someone to do it?
I was looking for some advise but I finally got some help. Thanks for your reply. NIce truck BTW.
Grest song. No nonsense vid thx
I need to find a video of how ro remove the side panels of the bed. Good Vid
@Richard Edward what about the bolt between the cab and the bed
cool video, Loved Step 8 lol
Good music for this one.
What kind of wheel set up do you have
I have a regular f150 with out step sides can I replace with one of these step sides
my uncle has the same truck but its called a f150 so pretty much the same bed
You think 2-4 people could just loft the bed off?
I'd say 4 to save your arms and back. I did this with another guy and I and it damn near killed us.
You didn’t say anything about removing the bed door....
Perfect fucking song!!!!
Great video! Very cool! Thank you!
Great video !!!
