Rebuilding my Ford Lightning engine after blowing a few rings with the nitrous. Should produce over 550 RWHP without the nitrous this time, 700RWHP with.

    You think 2-4 people could just loft the bed off?

      I'd say 4 to save your arms and back. I did this with another guy and I and it damn near killed us.

    i'm looking at doing the same thing, can i ask how you supported the bed on the jack stands? don't want to destroy the thing by accident, don't know if those fiberglass sides are up to supporting its weight and don't want to set it on the pavement reguardless Thanks :D!

      @@stevegm1977 ah thank you, i should have specified i have a step side and for what ever reason ford went with fiberglass instead of metal for the stepsides.

      @@stevegm1977 So yes apparently the sides are aluminum, guy i bought the old girl from told me they were fiberglass and i never questioned it. and yeah gona be a minute till i get that far, broken 2 TX50 bits on this project in the past 2 days, and the nuts have broken free of the welds on the clips the bolts go into, was going to use new hardware to put it back on anyways but had hoped to avoid having to cut these ones to get it off.

    Good video. If I may suggest, next time take the rear wheels off, set rear end on jack stands, and you won’t have to lift the bed so high to get it off.

      addition to the post above. I didn't take the tailgate off, I simply added some weight to the front to balance it. And I didn't slide the bed all the way out, I only moved about 18 inches, just enough to clear the fuel pump. For safety precaution, I added 4x8, 2x4 wood blocks underneath to support the bed instead of hanging by the engine hoist. Just something the share.People like you deserves a medal.

    Do you know if this would make changing the fuel pump easier to take the bed out? I think the pump is going out in mine and I might still have to drop the tank unless the pump is on the top of the tank, then I'll just remove the bed. I have a 2001 F150 xlt. I don't know how similar it would be compared to your lightning. That's a gorgeous truck you have.

    Hey Bro, I'm starting out on the same venture you just under took with my 03 Lightning. Looking to do the same thing. I haven't torn it down yet but I have what resembles a bullet hole the size of a .45 in my oil pan... Any insight would be greatly appreciated! Are you a mechanic in the air force? I noticed the after work attire. That engine came out looking great! What is it putting down? Hit me up when you get a chance.

    • @jamesfitz1227
      @jamesfitz1227 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Don't know if you did it or not but if the hole came from internally then it could be a number of things the most likely thing being a price of rod or piston from the outside could literally be anything could have been a rock
