I also don't think an infp could characterize a person's empathy with animals as "silly", perhaps you are an enfp, which has a part introvert, from what I understand they are the ones who are most confused with being introverts. By the way, enfps are amazing, they love to help others and they are not cold. My sister is ENFP, and she likes animals but she doesn't have as much empathy as infp, she is shy in some circumstances, but she is sociable with her class and with people she knows. It is not impossible for her to talk and socialize with someone she does not know, which is what usually happens to the infp, it is almost impossible for the infp. For ENFP it is not almost impossible for them to talk to someone new, and also the enfp need some time to be alone.
