We lost my husbands Nan and it hit my son the hardest. She gave me some of her wool before she passed and my son asked me today if I could make him a granny square from it so he has something he can take around with him. He saw your video and asked me if I could make this one. Your instructions are so clear and it’s beautiful, thank you so much. My son is going to be so happy xx
It is so nice to see another guy crocheting. It helps give hands something to do as well as releasing anxious energy. Most people think something is odd about me as a guy that crochets. But at least in a world of destruction I am creating something of use.
Michael, I can't thank you enough for the clear explanation on Rnd 12. I looked at the written pattern and my head was spinning with all the asterisks and parenthesis...and here you just say "...these will make them front post doubles and these will be back post doubles..." that gave me the HINT I needed! THANK YOU for always making things understandable for us!
I just finished round 13 , I’m totally amazed with myself . This is the third year I’m doing this . This coverlet is the best one yet . I can see my own personal growth when it comes to crochet by reading patterns watching the video and applying what I’ve learned . Thank you Mikey and Jeanne this is an amazing coverlet.
Beautiful pattern...your teaching methods are perfect...as usual. My family just left after the holidays....was feeling a bit down....began crocheting this "calming" afgan with your impeccable instructions and I am feeling much more cheerful..anxiously awaiting the next row....thank you Mickey and Jeannie and all involved in preparing this pattern. My wish to each you...."health" and "happiness"...thank you for being a part of my crochet world for so many years....your postings (always so honest) and patterns are appreciated. Thank you!
You don't have to respond. No question here. Just want to say ty for the timer and your a good teacher and great at video teaching. I love you crochet but can't follow a pattern so this makes it sooo much easier for me. I will definitely try some of the beautiful stuff you teach because you make it so easy.
Can I just say … you are the most organized person I have had the pleasure of following. I love that you have put chapters in the video and a count down. Absolutely amazing and good for my brain!
thanks for the terrific tutorial, as always!! i am doing mine in caron big cakes, and as soon as i finished the first 13, i decided i will just keep making these squares for a baby afghan! two down...!!!
Not only I am seeing very many gorgeous patterns in your channel but also seeing and learning very many lovely color combinations :) I am not intermediate yet, so I guess I will not attempt this. But one day, maybe next year, when I got more experience, I most definitely want to try this one. Thanks for sharing it.
Thank you so much!!! I see this as a beautiful Christmas gift from you to all of us: your time, skill and your your funny self!!❤❤🙏🙏 this is my third year of being alone over the holidays (cancer schmanzer, covid and my family living in another continent are the "ingredients" of this self isolation...🙈🙈🙈) ...so crocheting with you and this beautiful community, saved my mental and emotional "bacon"times over!!🙏❤🙏 ...and all my loved ones got now blankets and "what not's" for the next three lifetimes!😅😅😁😁🤩
I'm sorry to read that. I know Jeanne makes her designs when she is feeling the most isolated from people and uses it to self-heal. You may find comfort in her designs by knowing that.
I'm so sorry to hear about your isolation. I feel you. I too am rather isolated because of health issues. I love your post. I appreciate this community too. It's healing. Ask the best to you 💖
13 rounds completed and it looks fantastic!!! I finally put trust in the gauge test and used the 4mm hook. It's not wonky like my projects usually end up! I can't wait for next week!!!!! Let's go Mikey...I got this!!!!!
I started this today by reading the pattern but found following the video a better option. Thank you to you and Jeannie for both. I do find it rather calming and have been crocheting for years. Using Bernat Pop , Scarlet Sizzle from my stash. May the New Year hold good things for you and your families.
Your channel is such a gift. Your pattern explanations are extremely concise and I like your enthusiasm when a pattern is more straight forward than you were expecting.
I love the pattern. I am testing it right now. I do love love the stitch count for the sides. It helps me out, as I am still learning this pattern. Thank you. I would like to thank Jeanne for the beautiful pattern and for you to the videos. So awesome of you guys. You rock !!!
Thank you so, Mikey, for a fabulous tutorial. I'm starting crochet again after a very long break and you've given me so much just by watching and listen to you. I've got a couple of toys to make for my grandchildren but am really looking forward to taking part in this beautiful make very soon. Xxx
I'm going to get some "Christmas" dyed wool for this. Then work the pattern. Mikey, it's a beautiful pattern and you're a great teacher. Thank you for this
I just finished row 13 and it's beautiful. Looking forward to following along with the rest of your videos. The pattern is gorgeous! Thank you so much!
Thanks Mikey... I'm planning on doing 3, for birthdays that are coming up... I'm choosing bro do them in solid colors of gray, purple, and yellow... I love the hdc join.
I’m doing the Yarnspiration Textured Checkerboard Crochet Throw by Katherine Eng and I’m tweeking it a bit by making this square to incorporate into the center. This is PERFECT and gives a nice contrast to the other squares in the pattern
Thank you so much! ThIs is my first time trying this. I cannot believe how beautiful this pattern is and that I am actually making it. Thank you so much for all the work you put into this for us. I am learning so much! 🙏
Watching now. I love the new intro! I just finished watching. So far, I'm loving it. I've got too much going on now to start something, but im definitely going to start once things "calm" down. Thank you.
Thanks for this tutorial. I've decided to join in on the fun. I gotta prove to myself I can do this. New patterns are a little intimidating for me sometimes.
Hey. I want all these beautiful patterns you're doing! I get sidetracted easily so I need written patt. I can put on my magnet board and follow stitch-by-stitch.
First time following Afghan video. I am doing in springy variegated yarn. I had to frog back round after round (at one point four!) I didn’t give up and I am proud to say I am ready for the next rounds! Thank you and Happy New Year! PS love the HDC join!
I know a lot of people are visual learners and do not read patterns, but do like to know the end stitch count for each round/row. Since I have a lot of time on my hands at the moment due to health issues, and mostly because Mikey shares so much of his time with us and wonderful patterns, tutorials,CALs etc., I figured I would put the end of the round stitch counts for those who would like them. You could write them down on a piece of scrap paper so you have them handy. God bless! 1st rnd:12 dc 2nd rnd:12 sc, 12 ch-1 sps. 3rd rnd:12 pc, 12 ch-2 sp. 4th rnd:36 sc, 12 scfp.
- That's super. I think taking it step by step is the best to ensure people are not overwhelmed. Thanks for your constructive thoughts.
This is such a beautiful design, Mikey! Thanks so much! But what do you think about this afghan as a gift for a millennial aged couple? Will my attempt to pass along an heirloom to the next generation be received?…
Assicurati solo che non si pieghi o si arricci cambiando il filo e la misura dell'uncinetto. Provalo però, probabilmente funzionerà. - Just make sure it doesn't buckle or ruffle out by changing the yarn and hook size. Try it though, it probably will work.
I am using LIonbrand Heartland with a J hook so for the SC's I decided to do HDC I find, for me, with the smaller yarn it's easy to see than a SC. Loving this pattern, thanks for the tutorial :) not sure what size this will be at then end but can't wait to do the rest.
Uh oh ... to the yarn store again! ❤ love and enjoy the patterns you publish, but I can't keep up. Had a major slow down on the leaves on "the study of the journey " 🤦♀️
Help please. I know I'm 2 years too late but it's just so pretty! I'm kinda a beginner, never used a pattern but have made some amazing blankets and amigurumi. This is my next learning challenge! I've frogged, restarted and frogged another dozen times and started fresh again now. 🥴 Counting stitches is confusing - do you count the corner chains in the stitch count for each side? Do you count the sc or dc in the corners? I watched a few crochet stitch anatomy videos and still can't get the count right - plus I don't know if 21 stitches in row 8 includes the chains or sc in the corners? Sorry to be so stupid! Any help would be greatly appreciated from me here in Australia!
Love Love Love!!! The first tutorial was soo easy to understand and do, I've started two more and maybe a fourth one. Any guidance on how much of the second ball is used for the colors A, D and E? Maybe I can recycle the color/finish that second ball in a second blanket.
I don't know this answer specifically but I think Jeanne uses most of the colouring as we try to design to yield the most yarn into the project instead of having yarn left over.
Hi Mikey. I hope you and Diva Dan had a wonderful Christmas! 🎄 I like "I Love This Yarn" by Hobby Lobby, and was wondering if this brand of yarn would be suitable for this project. Thank you for the wonderful tutorial (as usual), and I'll be looking forward to the next part of this beautiful CAL. Have a blessed day.

I've frogged, restarted and frogged another dozen times and started fresh again now. 🥴
Counting stitches is confusing - do you count the corner chains in the stitch count for each side? Do you count the sc or dc in the corners?
I watched a few crochet stitch anatomy videos and still can't get the count right - plus I don't know if 21 stitches in row 8 includes the chains or sc in the corners?
Sorry to be so stupid!
Any help would be greatly appreciated from me here in Australia!
I'm thinking of using all cotton thread size 4, would like to crochet it as a tablecloth, what do you think Mikey?
Would be kewl if you have the patience.
Love Love Love!!! The first tutorial was soo easy to understand and do, I've started two more and maybe a fourth one. Any guidance on how much of the second ball is used for the colors A, D and E? Maybe I can recycle the color/finish that second ball in a second blanket.
I don't know this answer specifically but I think Jeanne uses most of the colouring as we try to design to yield the most yarn into the project instead of having yarn left over.
thanks
I would really like to make this as my first CAL ever. Do you think an ombré yarn will be ok?
Yes fir sure.
I’m going to use ombré yarn in purple 👏👏👏
@@vickivickers8353 I’m going to do the same! I’ve been saving that purple ombré yarn for something special! This is it!!!!
@@rheldawilkinson3790 I am doing Blue for my son! Finally got it finished this morning
Hi Mikey. I hope you and Diva Dan had a wonderful Christmas! 🎄
I like "I Love This Yarn" by Hobby Lobby, and was wondering if this brand of yarn would be suitable for this project. Thank you for the wonderful tutorial (as usual), and I'll be looking forward to the next part of this beautiful CAL. Have a blessed day.
Thank you Michelle. Wishing you a great new year ahead.
Could we use a chunky #5 yarn? I have about 21oz of two diff colours in #4 but have more vibrant colours in the chunky #5 yarn
You could try it. Increase your hook though. I don’t know what size but you will have to do that.
