  • Do you know where your water comes from? 💙 For 200,000 people in the Eugene area, we get our drinking water from the #McKenzieRiver. It is one of the coldest, cleanest sources of drinking water in the nation, and it’s up to all of us to keep it that way. EWEB draws water from the McKenzie at Hayden Bridge and treats the water by removing contaminants, filtering the water, and disinfecting it before sending it through our 800 miles of pipes to distribute it throughout our community.
“We have excellent drinking water quality, and we want to keep it that way. Because if you start with a really clean source, you’re going to get better drinking water quality overall,” says EWEB Environmental Specialist Nancy Toth, who works with local landowners and environmental organizations to protect the McKenzie River. EWEB’s Drinking Water Source Protection Team leads the way to preserve our water quality by:
    1. monitoring water quality throughout the watershed to record trends and identify threats. 🕵
    2. implementing proactive strategies that protect water quality and reduce the costs for drinking water treatment. 👩‍🔬
    3. promoting public awareness about our watershed and encouraging our community to be good stewards of our creeks, rivers, streams and lakes. 🌎
So for this #WatershedWednesday, we invite you to share this video so your friends and neighbors also know where their #drinkingwater comes from. And please consider: 🤔What can you do to preserve our excellent drinking water quality?
