It was a gruesome death but to this day, I'm slightly confused, as to why exactly did she die? There are no major arteries in that area, that would made her loose so much blood, that she would die of blood loss. People have lived after having their jaw ripped out of them.

HOLY SHIT I REMEMBER THIS MOVIE, this is one of those movies where you remember exactly one scene. When the sister killed herself by opening her mouth with her hands like that i couldn't sleep after a while lol.

Thats the reason you have to control your eyes. Once you have seen something you cant make it unseen for the rest of your life. Sometimes I get curious and click on videos that look scary, but I stop always and tell myself, that I have right now still the opportunity to walk away from it, keeping my eyes or windows to the soul clean. But if I proceed, I cant undo it. I got that from the bible, to watch out for your eyes and turn away from evil. Its because I once watched a horrible video, that haunted my soul for months almost a year., I couldnt rest for a long time after watching that. Since then I changed and have become really careful to what I look at or what I think about. Always trying to observe myself and be really self aware, so I wont put dirt and black stains on my soul ever again. I also clicked on this video out of curiousity I stopped watching, and started reading the comments. Always be careful what you watch and what you do, once its done you cant undo it for the rest of your life. Only Jesus can.

The jaw ripping is horrific indeed, but in real life it wouldn't kill you. There's nothing vital there that would insta-kill you, it would take time. Although what you could do with that bit of time isn't much. You could call emergency services...but then what?

*The ending just may be the scariest philosophical part of the whole movie, yet everyone is obsessed with the jaw tearing scene*
For me, the ending is the most fucked up part of the whole movie. Imagine being dead and your soul is trapped inside the mirror world and everything is in reverse. The worst part is you can see your family but they can't see you. That's creepy and painful at the sametime.

I used to hate looking at mirrors growing up. I made it an instinct to avoid looking at my own reflection, whenever I passed by one, at a young age. This movie is up my alley! So creepy! Love it c:
I've had dissociative episodes in front of the mirror, during a particular straining period of my life. No drugs no nothing.
Just the reflection discreetly morphing and becoming unrecognizable after staring at it for too long.
Like it was a stranger. Very weird. I also had sleep paralysis and other issues like mechanical compulsions.
I guess it passed... though some obsession and depression remain
I would not have enjoyed watching that movie. But watching this recap was delightful.

There's a psychological theory behind this, it's the isolation of yourself and the horror that discomforts you, though being aware a third party is narrating this for you gives you a sense of comfort. Essentially strength in numbers.

what a sad ending. He technically is dead, a ghost. You could argue he is in the alternate dimension, but in that case he can at least still see his family. Weird how the boy would rather play with the evil spirits.
I never watched the movie itself, but I did accidentally catch the jaw tearing scene when I got bored of Star Wars: Clone Wars at the Drive-in. I was quickly no longer bored of Clone Wars.

This movie gave my eldest sister such a fear of mirrors when we watched it as kids that to this day she refuses to let out parents install a mirror in our bathroom at home.
I was around 6-8 years old when I watched this. Imagine the fear I had back then. I didn't even know why I insisted to watch it. I am 19 now and the bathtub death scene is now a core memory

There is nothing more terrifying than things you can't fight back.
They are helpless against the mirrors, but at the same time mirrors are everywhere.
Most horror movies atleast have beasts, demons or other things you can try to defend against.

It did end up being a demon, yet for some reason it was weaker than it was when it was stuck in the mirror.
The worst thing is that is not only the mirrors, os everything that can reflect you like water. And if you notice, your phone and computer reflects you as well, so you are literally around mirrors all of the time
Don't mirror gaze it is more scary than the movie it self. If you mirror gaze for 20 seconds your are fine but when you mirror gaze for 5 or 10 minutes a couple of times. Mirrors don't even have to be there to do things. Bit when mirror are there it isuch stronger. And the black moon is also a mirror.
The ending is painful as Ben died in the rubbles trying to escape the demon, but the jaw scene is haunting me since 2010😐😐😣

Yes, this movie is freaky startling, but this movie has a lot of inconsistency on how/when the mirror world can affect the normal world, but at other times it can't. Obviously it's not real, but no explanation of this in the recap, but I doubt that the actual movie can come up with a reason either.
Right? Like when the guy killed himself with glass and the real glass didn’t have any blood on it made no sense because blood was everywhere else.

This story seems to be inspired by a physiological illness when a human watches themselves a long time they can see things. The thing is everyone can see things when they look in a mirror long enough. Im pretty sure your brain would've prevented to look in a mirror for a long time because of boredom or intimidation. Also, in the victorian era there were lots of myths abt mirrors about deceased ones etc.. Yeh 👍

The sister’s death is the one death I absolute can not stomach and/or stand in the horror/gore genre. It happens in that PlayStation game Until Dawn, and I remember another horror movie, where this couple run out to a meteor from an alien planet that contains an egg that gives birth to their adoptive son, but he grows up to be really violent and kills anyone on a slight. He kills one person by telekinetically lifting them inside their car into the air, and dropping the car from several feet causing the impact to knock them unconscious and destroy their lower jaw. When they come to, they start gasping for air realizing the trauma they sustained and dying shortly there after.
That scene where she pulls her mouth apart gets me every time.

A lot of people don't know this is actually remake of South Korean horror movie called "Into the Mirror", made around 2003-2004, but they basically only kept some key scenes and basic idea of the story, and most of it was changed.

You shouldn't sleep with a mirror facing you. I can't remember the exact reason why, but many people I know who do have sleep paralysis, constant nightmares and see dark shadowy figures

Whenever you get attacked by demons, that cause the so called sleep paralyis, call jesus in your dream. I used to have them to. A lot. And I was very afraid. But today, I get attacked again, I become afrad at first but then I collect myself, and get really angry, and I start attacking the demons, I just walk towards them in my dream even chase them, or if it starts, I just say to myself, no, I had this so often, I am not afraid. Dont be afraid, call on jesus and attack those demons. They run very fast, they literally get so paniced. You think you are afraid of sleep paralysis caused by demons? You dont know what having true fear is, just mention jesus and attack the demons and you can see what true fear is, they really get paniced and they flee and run as fast as they can. They even try to hide or block doors so you dont get them. I once was in a dream in a train, and I knew there was a demon behind a door, and it tried to scare me, I just ran to the door and tried to open it. The demon was very afraid. Always call on jesus, it has nothing to do with mirrors. Jesus made me free, and I am not bound by any rules or occultist things, i can sleep with a mirror in my bedroom, but i dont do it, i did it once but i have a new wardrobe without a mirror. But anyhow, we are free, dont be afraid of anything, i was for a while afraid of the nr. 666, or just 6, but its just a number, jesus tells me to count to 667 you have to go past the nr. 666 and the number only gets power if you give it to it. Just dont be afraid of anything, and always believe in jesus. We dont get a afraid soul, we get a strong soul in the name of jesus. Dont try to give any material thing like a mirror, or what else any power. It is dead and cant do nothing. It is just an object like everything else. Dont be afraid of numbers or any occult thing, you are free and can do whatever you want without having to be afraid, as long as it does not serve any evil. Its just the mindset that puts you in danger, not the objects.

I remember seeing this movie so long ago, but I could only remember that one scene where the sister died. That scene haunted me for a long time, I was too afraid to close my eyes when under the shower or shampooing my head so I kept them open. I even began to stick things over the large mirror in my room, even though I shared that room with my sibling and cousin I was still afraid.

Wow, how many years ago is it that I watched this movie? It was the first horror movie I bought from my own money. What I remember is the fantastic acting, you really get drawn in and feel the emotions portrayed by the actors! Such an incredibly good movie!! I still remember how shook I was from the jaw scene and the pure suspence I felt when he walked into the mirror room at the end. I was so scared back then lol.

This movie freaked me out as a kid, had me c=scared of mirrors for years. Im still sometimes paranoid when i go to the bathroom in the middle of the night. I dont believe it to be real but the mind likes to play games sometimes.
Reading over these comments makes me feel relieved I wasn't the only kid severely traumatized by this movie.
A plot centered around an *everyday object* that was used to torment and kill people when they least expect it gave me a lot of sleepless nights during my childhood, especially since my bedroom closet had *mirrored* sliding doors.

I remember watching this movie in the theater at South Coast Plaza. I am a horror/Sci-Fi/ thriller fan, and this was one of my favs.
