    He's so explosive. He was recovering from a core muscle injury at the combine and still ran a 4.5 with a 40 inch vert. This is the 3rd receiver Kyle has taken with a runningback background. Didn't get to see Hurd last year but with all three coming in it should be quite the season with 3 of these guys who can be runningbacks after the catch.

    • @RikiTree
      @RikiTree 4 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      with a bad core muscle that he got surgery on two weeks later!! People are sleeping hard on his athleticism. 85% in broad jump, 92% in vertical, 97% in arm length... thats elite wr1 stuff aside from being 6 ft and 210, which isnt that small. Also had the best or close to 10 yard, which is short area burst. Love 3 wr sets with hurd, deebo, and aiyuk. All 3 can be in the slot, be a rb, or run a deep route. That versatility create an impossible matchup somewhere!

    Not going out on a limb by saying that Aiyuk ceiling is much higher than Sanders, at this point in their careers, but I also think it can be a lot higher than many are expecting. Like his former coach Herm Edwards mentioned in an interview, Aiyuk is new to the position and felt that his college numbers could have been a lot better were it not for a few circumstances, one being that the quarterback last year was a rookie getting used to the system another being that Aiyuk became the prime receiver only this past season.
    Also, Coach Edwards insists that not only is he a better receiver than his numbers, but also he will continue to get better, due to him being such a hard worker with a thirst for knowledge as much about the position as possible.
    This may sound blasphemous for some faithful 9ers fans, but I see a little Jerry Rice in his game, where he may not be the biggest or fastest, but he has that ability to read and execute routes to the point of slowing the game down to where he just looks slicker, smarter and harder to square up. One more thing, his wingspan is freakish, because it allows him to have that quick shifty type body frame with the reach of a much bigger taller receiver.

    • @Wolfeson28
      @Wolfeson28 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Certainly a fair point about Aiyuk only being the primary receiving target for one season; the previous year he was #2 behind N'keal Harry, another 1st round pick. It's also true that he was teamed up with a freshman quarterback, though honestly Jayden Daniels really impressed me with his poise and decision-making last year.
      I think the 49ers made a good assessment that this particular guy has the skills to flourish in their offense, and if he does have as high a ceiling as we hope, it's going to be fun to watch him. 😈🔱

      @benhayhurst6913 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is why I always hate when nfl analysts associate potential with the physical aspects of a reciever, Jerry Rice still holds basically every nfl receiving recording and it was all from his release, route running and RAC. The best recievers are the ones that can get open not the ones that make flashy 50/50 catches and force their QB into a tough throw

  • @RikiTree

    This guy has suuuper close physical stats to a hof receiver that shanny knows... mr Isaac Bruce!! 6ft, 200lb, 4.4-4.5 40 yrd with even better short area burst, great vertical leap, broad jump, and huuuuuge wingspan! Love the pick, the YAC Attack, or YAC and Sack Daddy's with the dline too!!

    What I've notice about him from the videos that I've watched. What you left out is that he is a hand catcher he doesn't catch with his body (context is very important here, he was playing with a freshman quarterback and he still put up great numbers)... He has the best RAC than the "top 3" receivers and that is because of his route running and speed, don't be fooled by his 4.5 combine time, he had a core injury and his tape doesn't lie ... he was the 2nd best WR to me second only to Lamb.. Ruggs was never the top WR in bama and the Hill comparisons are not valid he is more like a Santana Moss type receiver and Jeudy to me is way to skinny and is going to have problems with the physicality of the NFL corners .. I think this WR draft is overrated and will only have maybe 2 to 3 pro bowl type players it is nothing like the 1988 draft that had Tim Brown, Sterling Sharp, Michael Irvin, Anthony Miller, Quinn Early and many other really good players to a few hall of famers.. sorry don't see that in this group, I see a bunch of over hyped projects...

    No idea who he was. But looking at some tape now, he’s scoring on plays the 49ers run .... a lot. He has some habits to clean up, but he runs good routes, has good hands, and his efficiency and vision once he catches the ball look elite. No wasted movements, very efficient running style, sees and hits the gaps, not afraid to finish. We want receivers who get YAC. He’s the best in this draft by far.

    the thing about the 49ers' receiving group is that they don't have a true #1 and they don't need one to have huge impact against opposing defenses. Shanahan is the best at getting the most production from his receivers. Same with their running game. They don't have a #1 running back either but their running backs are very good at getting production and scoring touchdowns when called upon. Kyle Shanahan is like the Bill Belichick of Offensive Football if you know what I mean.

    Aiyuk is a fantastic pick. Question is who will be the 6th receiver. Taylor & Herd aren't going anywhere. In fact both healthy... tremendously improves receiving corps. I think it's between Pettis & Bourne (maybe James).
    Bourne seems only good in the endzone (certainly not a bad thing but, that's what Herd is going to be for & Taylor will be the main Slot receiver).
    James catches punts but, had failed late season.
    Pettis has shown he has talent but, holy inconsistency! Look at last year, 49ers vs Rams... that jump ball catch Pettis made was beautiful. A better catch than TD catch vs Cards.
    Regardless, I'll miss Sanders but, the 49ers have a legit receiving corp.
    Where last year the run opened up the pass, I wouldn't be surprised if the pass opened up the run, this year.
    Superbowl bound!
