We gotta be realistic here, dude is silent all season and then gets a pick six. It’s not fair to all the other people to call javon super good, or even the next d-buck
Thanks Alex for doing this, since I had been looking forward to it. I know when the pick was made a lot of 49ers fans were a disappointed that Kyle/John didn't pull the trigger on one of the highly touted receivers myself included. However, after a while I started to come around to their decision. They couldn't afford Buckner, but didn't want to lose the dominating line play they had on defense. Someone with Kinlaw's potential was just too good to pass up, especially in a draft that had a lot of receiver depth to it. I wasn't aware how huge he was. Hopefully he really does help the 49ers fix the run defense, because that was a bit of a weak area last year. Also, the 49ers need all the help they can get when they have to chase Wilson and Murray around twice a year.
@Jonathan Dee The One And Only no disrespect to Buckner, I think he is a solid player. He was not worth the money he wanted from the niners. He just doesn't have the strength kinlaw has, that's what this line really needs. We need a Justin Smith type dlineman to open up shop for guys like bosa and ford
49ers EMPIRE he going to fit right in i feel it thats a beast and we the mighty 49ers we create Legends no worries not over here we stack and we ready no mercy tour coming soon🐺
Great video and great channel I found this not knowing anything about Kinlaw and while I know he may need time to develop he's a special talent! I really like the analysis you bring to the table
Great breakdown. Thanks for highlighting the multiple moves he has, and his ability against the run and not just as a penetrator but also as a space eater against doubles. A lot of “analysts” tried to say all he has is his bull rush but that’s obviously not true. Were you planning on doing a film room on Aiyuk? Think he will be an amazing fit in the offense and will offer a deep threat element too. Especially with his crazy wingspan, Jimmy just needs to give him a chance down the field and he should come up with it more often than not
Sure thing Andrew, glad you liked it. If I was covering the 49ers full time last season, definitely. But now I'm trying to expand my channel and do all 32 teams. Probably won't get to Aiyuk, but I do miss sticking with the 49ers and the fanbase week in and week out.
Watching you for a while and just subscribed. I am a 3 rd generation niner fan and just a die hard football fan in general. In 3 FF leagues yearly and won 2 of them this last year, just needed the miners to win the SB to make my life complete. Sadly there is still a void. However I think the 49ers got better for sure and that goes for a few reasons I would say that the deforest Buckner Kinlaw exchange will roughly break is even in Kinnelon might even add a dynamic that we didn’t have before just in his absolute size and strength. Most importantly you’ve got bullshit going into his second year you’ve got the Ford that is in his second year in the system Kwon Alexander that was absolutely more dominant than people even talk about when he was healthy and he’s going to be coming in healthy and ready to go not to mention Fred Warner coming into His own. Sherman seems like he’s been maintaining at a high-level and may even get slightly quicker as time passes in the gap between his injury and healthy seems to wisen a bit. I love Jimmy Ward for coming back, once we do iron out our corner situation on the opposite side of Sherman and eventually have Sherman‘s replacement coming up or adding another veteran on the other side of the bar when we lose Sherman might be a great idea as well. As far as Office goes Jimmy needed that first year and somewhat success throughout to give him the confidence to take the next step forward. I am maybe one of the few that actually believe that the Jimmy we saw those last five games of 2017 Was closer to who Jimmy is. I think the benefit was he just didn’t have enough pressure on him that impacted his play. Once he got injured and had kind of a rough start in the beginning of the year 2018 I think there was a lot of pressure on him and it seems like no matter what he did to prove the doubters wrong as last year there was always another reason to doubt him and therefore never really been able to let go I think of some of that pressure, that also includes the shadow syndrome coming from Tom Brady. I think he’s going to break out this year I think now that we have A stable of wide receivers that are hand chosen by Shanahan and they all add that dynamic aspect to go along with kiddo the best tight end in the league you add Taylor Samuel and the new guy that I can’t seem to remember at the moment LOL, not to mention Hurn And I hope Paris works out because I actually like his personality and I think that he does have a unique route running ability that could prove to be successful in the NFL and I would love for him to find his niche. With that said we also have Jerick McKinnon coming back which nobody seems to even talk about. Mostert did great and I am truly hoping that he keeps that pace going forward and just kills it, seems like he deserves it, as as does McKinnon. So having Coleman McKinnon and Rahim not to mention juice, That is one hell of a running back committee and not even to mention Jeff Wilson as well, who’s got a sweet speed and quickness that comes in for that one play the wins the game as he did at the end of the Cardinals game I believe? I could be wrong about that but I think it was the Cardinals last year. You’ve got Shanahan more comfortable with all of these people in his offense we filled all the holes of great players that we lost we’ve got great players coming up getting more experience more comfortable in the system and I think as the years go by Jimmy G is going to just get better and better and therefore raise the play of everyone around him take pressure off of the defense allowing them to take some more rest I think we are constantly moving in the direction of better until we get to the point where we have reached our potential, and I doubt that time will seem like it ever arrives because Shannon will constantly be tweaking in approving his system to remain at an advantage over the rest the week. So definitely better. Really like the way you look at the game love watching your videos I’ll be there for you to watch it and hopefully here as things get better on the economic front I’ll have some money to donate to you as well please keep the content come in and will always try to keep an eye out if you ever respond and I love talking football so you’ll always get a response. Have a good one Alex! Go Niners!
he costed too much. we extended armstead instead plus resigned some key players. tried to keep the team together for a superbowl run in 2020 but got injured.
If Kinlaw can get down to 300lbs whilst maintaining his strength and improving his speed he is going to have a really strong rookie season. He has the right coaches around him to help him work on his technique, hand placement and with Nick Bosa on the line with him, he has a technician who can show him some moves.
One of those 'great prospect in a great situation' picks. So not only did Niners manage to sell high on Buckner and got a pick, his replacement may actually be the long term Niner. 5-7 years from now that Niner front 4 could still feature the Kinlaw and Bosa wrecking crew.
Hey Alex, I'd love it if you revisited this video and analyze why Kinlaw didn't do too good in the 2020 season, analyzing his strengths and weaknesses on the field, similar to the Tua and Hurts videos
Things just take time, Buckner's rookie year he didn't blow up either (although it was statistically better than Kinlaw's) I'll give big K another full 16 before I make another episode on him
For a player with so many elite physical traits, Kinlaw's tape was much more inconsistent than expected. -Playing style lacks control and efficiency -Looks great but lacks technique for consistency -High-cut and straight-legged into engagement -Struggles to absorb down blocks and hold his ground -Pads get turned when sliding laterally, causing loss of leverage and fit -Inconsistent use of hands to control point of attack -Rushes in with wild charge instead of moves and counters -Attacks blocks with inconsistent base and balance
Said this when we drafted him. Buck was a beast coming out of Oregon, But Kinlaw is a little better coming out of south carolina. And with all the talent on the line... he won't be the focul point and will be able to dominate with all the focus on boca, arid and ford. And he's bigger and faster lol love buckner but i think we upgraded!
I don't know why but i thought Kinlaw was 300 lbs. The way he moves i guess. I studied the draft this year too. Lol. That extra 20 pounds blew my mind. What a monster
**Photograph of Buckner and photograph of Kinlaw held side by side** - Corporate needs you to find the difference between this picture and this picture. - They're the same picture.
Kinlaw's heavier definitely. But you would never know he's 320 when watching him on film. Plays a tiny bit slower than Buckner, but not THIRTY pounds slower. Crazy talent
Hey Alex! Great video! Are you are in the process of making a video on NYG T Andrew Thomas? I know myself and many other Giants fans would like to see your analysis of that pick
I just really hope Kinlaw can stay healthy for all 16 games. Buckner played damn near every down, all the time. I believe Kinlaw will be a better power gap penetrator that beefs up the stats of his other D-lineman. Buckner had a lot of hustle but seemed to dance around a bit and use moves rather than quick power.
I don't think Kinlaw will be as good this year as Buckner was last year, but it took until Buckner's third year to really start to shine. By Kinlaw's third year, he may be better!
Yeah year 1 success is never easy, and you're right it took Buck some time to develop. I think what's interesting is Buckner had to be the main guy when he was drafted, whereas Kinlaw doesn't at all. It's a lot different carrying a dline instead of just being a part of one.
Kinlaw is probably going to be more effective as an individual but Buckner being more polished and a leader on the defensive line I believe is hard to discount. I don't see Armstead or Bosa being able to control the line like Buckner.
They declined to pick up his 5th year option, they’ll most likely keep him on rotations, he did bring pressure on some downs he played. I’d say they might try to get some value out of him like a trade but highly unlikely any team will bite.
Solomon is so disappointing. I hope to God he has a breakout season. But I'm not getting my hopes up. Can you imagine if they drafted Jamal Adams instead? But that's the way the ball bounces sometimes
I don't think it will change too much, he's still just a rotational player. Dee Ford is often injured, so Thomas is a solid backup. I think Thomas plays a little better inside, Armstead seems like a true tweener (not in a bad way) at DT/DE so if Ford goes down, I'd bump Armstead outside permanently and have Solly and Kinlaw play DT
I'm more surprised that Kinlaw wasn't taken before 49ers could. It definitely saved them from trading off Buckner. Or should , yet to be seen. They invested a lot into getting these picks. It really handicaps them in next years draft. If these guys don't make it then they lost two drafts. It will be double bust.
Have the 49ers gotten better or worse since the 2019 season ended and why?
AlexRollinsNFL stayed the same in my opinion. Really depends how well Kinlaw and Aiyuk fit in.

Chase young doesn't need a whole lot of moves to be a great player. He is stronger and faster and bigger than khalil mack. He will be great no matter what
8:09 kinlaw was being held. Should've been a sack but damn he nearly got just with his strength. He's gonna be something for the Niners that's for damn sure
yup, looked like Bosa being clotheslined by KC in the Super Bowl on that crucial 3rd and long play
Again, can’t stop saying it. These are really good videos. Thanks Alex I love your work.
Thanks Cristian! that means a lot man
We gotta be realistic here, dude is silent all season and then gets a pick six. It’s not fair to all the other people to call javon super good, or even the next d-buck
People don't realize how much skill and strategy Big Lineman possess. I think Kinlaw will do fine for the 49ers.
All Gas Baby!
I think alot of fans were upset at first, i was too. But after seeing the highlights he's grown on me. Excited to see what he
I felt the same man, I thought 100% it was going to be Jeudy at that pick and was dissapointed as well. But then I studied Kinlaw this week... man lol
With a specimen like this, fans -- and coaches -- can dream.
49ers EMPIRE he going to fit right in i feel it thats a beast and we the mighty 49ers we create Legends no worries not over here we stack and we ready no mercy tour coming soon🐺
Can't wait to see this D line doing it for real. Niner's 19 in 20. Will feel great baby.
Great video and great channel I found this not knowing anything about Kinlaw and while I know he may need time to develop he's a special talent! I really like the analysis you bring to the table
Thank you Jesus
He was one of the top 10 players on my big board. Dude is an absolute animal
Yea... we’ll see....Buckner is that rare talent that cant be replaced !!!!!
Thanks Indi
LETS GO !!!!!! 49ERS BABY !!
I want to see a comparison video of the best anti run deffesive linemen vs some d line players who could improve in that area.
If ur not doubling him every play ur gonna be in trouble
SF: laughs in nick bosa arik armstead and dee ford
Well this aged like a glass of milk sitting out in the summer sun.
Very excited to see Kinlaw! His film is fun to watch
Me too!
Go Niners!
Thanks Keith, appreciate you man
I'm about ready to embrace the every year d lineman trend. I do love da saq
Sadly this didn't age well and we should never have traded DeForest Buckner.
he costed too much. we extended armstead instead plus resigned some key players. tried to keep the team together for a superbowl run in 2020 but got injured.
Loved John Lynch as a player. Now as a head guy. 49ers are going to be great for years. The man knows football...
If Kinlaw can get down to 300lbs whilst maintaining his strength and improving his speed he is going to have a really strong rookie season. He has the right coaches around him to help him work on his technique, hand placement and with Nick Bosa on the line with him, he has a technician who can show him some moves.
I see him being the next justin smith
That HOLD at the 8:00 mark is almost as blatant as the hold on Bosa in the Superbowl 🤬
This aged well
Niner fan since age 5 and I'm pissed they let buckner go but hearing what you just said im not so disappointed and more hopeful now for the franchise
Losing Buck was still brutal. Imagine having both of these guys up the middle
Great Vid. Best thing to hear since the SB. Go 49ners
Thanks Janan, he's a beast
Buckner after the initial contact from O lineman got stood up a lot. His almost 6'8 frame was the reason..
Nice film breakdown 👍
Thanks Kim, appreciate that
Welcome
Another one of your great analyzing videos on my favorite team? Count me in 🤙🏾🤙🏾🤙🏾🤙🏾
I really like your style of doing the breakdowns. Is there any way I can learn how to get started to do this type of videos?
Thanks Ron I appreciate that. Reach out to me on Twitter
thank you for this video
Fantastic analysis!
Thanks Richard
There will never be another DBuck. No need to put that kind of pressure on the kid. Kinlaw will be his own man and game-changer. #NinerNation
Do one on Brandon Aiyuk
SEC players are just built different
better because hurd and taylor coming back from ir. hurd looked really good and jimmy g loved passing to taylor. competition in the wr room
One of those 'great prospect in a great situation' picks. So not only did Niners manage to sell high on Buckner and got a pick, his replacement may actually be the long term Niner. 5-7 years from now that Niner front 4 could still feature the Kinlaw and Bosa wrecking crew.
Another great episode!
Thank you!
Can you make an update on kinlaw and 2021
He will be great for run game and eventually develop for pass rush. We have enough elite pass rushers to be ok
He's a beast just hope he's healthy ,he's got a knee injury ,hope he'll be healthy enough.
Coach Kris is gonna turn this guy into a monster, He'll definitely be coached up properly
Kris is the man
love your videos
Thanks Johnny! Appreciate you man
Hey Alex, I'd love it if you revisited this video and analyze why Kinlaw didn't do too good in the 2020 season, analyzing his strengths and weaknesses on the field, similar to the Tua and Hurts videos
Things just take time, Buckner's rookie year he didn't blow up either (although it was statistically better than Kinlaw's) I'll give big K another full 16 before I make another episode on him
8:20 - Cervenka looks just like a KC Chef in the Super Bowl.
For a player with so many elite physical traits, Kinlaw's tape was much more inconsistent than expected.
-Playing style lacks control and efficiency
-Looks great but lacks technique for consistency
-High-cut and straight-legged into engagement
-Struggles to absorb down blocks and hold his ground
-Pads get turned when sliding laterally, causing loss of leverage and fit
-Inconsistent use of hands to control point of attack
-Rushes in with wild charge instead of moves and counters
-Attacks blocks with inconsistent base and balance
Where my notification gang at???
Everyone should be like Cole
The 49ers need a big body like Kinlaw in the middle to disrupt or stop the run.
Their pass rush reminds me of the pass rushers of NYG during those SB runs ... this division will be a dog fight for years to come
Wow these small adjustments like spiking a knee makes all the difference...didnt know so much physics is studied in football
Your voice reminds me of the NFL history videos I used to watch.
Haha thanks! Like NFL Films?
@@AlexRollinsNFL no, there was some TH-camr who would make videos on interesting NFL moments. I don't remember his name. It was a few years back
Can we get some of o-lines plz 🙏🏽
I don't know why but i thought Kinlaw was 300 lbs. The way he moves i guess. I studied the draft this year too. Lol. That extra 20 pounds blew my mind. What a monster
It's truly insane. Weighed 340 in high school too. If you told me he was 285 I wouldn't be surprised at all
1:45 Look at kinlaws size and physique his ability his pass rush skills I think the niners found a replica
**Photograph of Buckner and photograph of Kinlaw held side by side**
- Corporate needs you to find the difference between this picture and this picture.
- They're the same picture.
Sup couch
Kinlaw's heavier definitely. But you would never know he's 320 when watching him on film. Plays a tiny bit slower than Buckner, but not THIRTY pounds slower. Crazy talent
If it were me I would have traded armstead and tried to pair Buckner and kinlaw
Hey Alex! Great video! Are you are in the process of making a video on NYG T Andrew Thomas? I know myself and many other Giants fans would like to see your analysis of that pick
Thanks Gamerz appreciate that man. I'll probably do a Daniel Jones video before I do Thomas, 90% sure I'll get to Jones this offseason
One year later.... kinlaw has alot to work on. Especially he needs higher energy on every play not just when convenient.
I managed to get a cheap signed J.K. Card on Ebay
He kinda reminds me of a young Fletcher Cox
I mean hell if hes fletcher cox alongside the rest of the D-line we have its gonna be awesome
If Kinlaw turns out to be a young Fletcher Cox, our d-line just became a cheat code. Bosa, Ford, Armstead, Kinlaw, Jones............who do you double?
0:54 Kyle looked so much younger a couple years ago.
Peep him when he was with the Falcons, Little Kyle
Hey Alex, how do you think Solomon Thomas’ role will change this year with the departure of Buckner and Kinlaw coming in?
Our line is going to be assume. He and Bosa will make each other better.
